The Hooker Murder Scene in the movie "American Psycho" you know the one where he chases the girl out into the hall with a chainsaw... :S

What about "Natural Born Killers" That was a good one!

hey guys, there are two versions of Man Bites Dog, the unrated and the uncut. Lawrocket is talking about the Criterion DVD which is the uncut version - the rape scene was removed from the unrated version. and i see why - it really is so disturbing and brutal that it destroys the comedy (yeah okay im a sick twisted fuck so sue me)

As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD...

They almost didn't allow that scene to be shown period. I saw it at a theater when it was released.

IT destroyed the comedy. But I'll admit, I took that as the point of the movie - we'll laugh about the funny slayings throughout the movie as funny. But why wasn't that one funny? After that scene, I thought, "I've changed my mind. This isn't funny." Before the scene? I'd never laughed so hard at a movie in my life.

The chainsaw scene in Scarface, IMO is the most violent.

I agree with the previous posts about Saving Private Ryan and Joe Pesci getting whacked in Casino.

There's also the beat-down in GoodFellas, that was pretty ill.

I can't believe you took Silent Hill that seriously; special effects don't freak me out in the least. What did you think of that movie? I think it's one of the worst I've ever seen, I'd have been better off using the $12 I spent as toilet paper. Unfortunately it was my friend's choice to see it and not mine...

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

That is one of my favorites! At one time, I could almost quote that entire movie...

One disturbing scene that sticks in my mind is from "American Me" where the guy gets rammed in the corn hole with that big jagged knife...

Goudha is for Buddha, and that's good enough for me!

Irreversible (Gaspar Noe, 2002) is one of the most emotionally brutal films ever made, bar none. The whole point that guy is going off in that underground club is because his gf, a radiant Monica Belluci, is brutally sodomized. To add another layer of irony (and brilliant casting), she is his wife in real life.

Anyway, the film film's narrative is told in reverse, and not as a gimmick either. The ending, or rather the beginning, is sublime.

check it out...if you dare. B|

oh god that made me sick. WTF is wrong with people? I mean I know this is just a movie but to think there are actually people capable of this kind of violence. It's just sad. :|
I may not agree with what you have to say but i'll defend to the death your right to say it.

***

As bad as when Hannibal Lechter feeds Ray Liotta
his own brains...stir fry!:o

I really didn't think that scene was all that disturbing, in fact i remember being in the cinema watching the movie and everyone was laughing when it happened.

Other than irrversible, it would have to be the torture scene in Resoirvoir Dogs.

Agreed. The sodomy scene on the other hand...

I watched it with my girlfriend at the time and as much as I wanted to I couldn't bare to look at her during the scene. When it was over I glanced over at her and she was bawling. I didn't sleep well that night.

Don't get me wrong, the movie was horrible. But the whole barbed wire thing was just so rediculous. I mean come on...

SPOILER WARNING (for an already spoiled movie)

having strands of barbed wire shoved up your ass and vagina one at a time until you are ripped in half by the internal pressure, with a little girl (demon or not) dancing beneath the entrails and shower of blood

that's just rediculous, almost unnecessary.

Yes, me and my friends were laughing quite a bit through the final scene. It wasn't being taken seriously.

I've definitely been watching too many kids movies the last few years. Except for a few of the oldies, I have not seen many of these.

I did see a couple fo the Faces of Death videos about 20 or so years ago. Some of the scenes were pretty nasty - and made me squirm more than anything done by Hollywood, if for no other reason than just knowing it was the real thing.

I thought that one was a champ too, until I pulled up Chopper on the OnDemand last night; Eric Bana as an infamous Autralian criminal from a few years back, sits down in a chair and orders a fellow inmate slice off the backs of both of his ears just so he can get transferred to another cell block.
(WARNING: DO NOT be eating Graham crackers and raspberry jam while you watch it. Trust me. [:/])

The "Made me walk out of the theater" Award goes to: Robert DeNiro biting a chunk out of Ileana Douglas' cheek before breaking her handcuffed arm in Cape Fear. Even my ex knew something was wrong because I never have to go pee during a movie.

But are we talking about visual violence, psychological violence or blood and gore?
Personally, I put those in three separate categories. I despise visual violence, but I'll watch it in the context of a good story and good acting. Deliberate gross-out, inventive dismemberment crap, where the writers just seem to sit around getting high and figuring out foul new things to do to the human body, I avoid entirely.

Now for straight up psychological violence, Malcolm McDowell invading a home, beating an old man, and raping his wife in front of him -all while singing "Singing in the Rain" mind you- flat out scarred my then teenaged ass.

I would have to put "Hostel" way up on the list of most disturbing.:S

Hostel is one of the most effective uses of gory violence I've seen since Silence of the Lambs. Hostel isn't in the same league as Silence of the Lambs, but Eli Roth certainly knows how to use the disassembly of the human anatomy to great cinematic effect.

The whole scene in the warehouse is crazy. You gotta love Quentin Tarantino.

He always has great fight scenes in his movies too.

whas hostel really that gory? I haven't seen it, probably won't, don't quite have the stomach for it... but I loved Silence and Seven, fave films in fact, but the gore was more psychological there, not so visual... for some reason, realistic visual gore gets me more than psychological horror. the whole idea behind hostel terrorizes me w/o even seeing it.

And Chris. And...

This is all good movies, but you know it's just special effects.

During a showing of Fargo - I saw at least 7 audience members claw out their own eyes and ears just to stay awake through the movie.

I honestly don't see how anyone can have a reaction to a movie that was violent, yet the violence was not REAL:|

Saving Private Ryan may be an exclusion, as the violence was not real, but was actually based on fact...and that may have really bothered some Veterans[:/]

I guess a rape on film although not real, can trigger reactions from an actual rape victim as well.[:/]

That's how i judge good film though, whether it be gratuitous gory violence or the psychological kind, if it grosses you out or makes you feel wierd then surely it's had its desired cinemagraphic effect? (is cinemagraphic a word? I've had four after work beers and i can't be sure :$)

hmmmm I guess so but I am not sure, yes I think that was the directors intent however those of us who are kind of analytical may not react in that way.

I have never been bothered by gore and violence except for to get really pissed off when it is real, and perpetrated on an innocent.>:(

I must be damaged goods huh?:|

That's what i'm saying, i believe that the point of film and music goes beyond mere entertainment, its intended to make us feel something, whether it be wonderment, happiness, sadness or revulsion.
