How do you get someone to shut up?

Recommended Posts

When I was in College one of my Fraternity brother's Blurted out "Your Still Talking, Ha Ha!" when he wanted me to stop talking...

I think I left the room after that... so I suppose it worked...

when given the same opportunity about three months ago (when he was drunk at his bachelor party)... I just told him to "Shut the Fuck up!" It didn't work so well... though... :D:D

ok... I thought it was funny... :P

Personally, I tell them they're right. Works most of the time.

What do yall do?

Put my -

oh your being serious. . . try agreeing with them and just say - Ok

or look at them blankly.
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama

I'm having this current problem at work. I don't give them my full attention, ie. I continue typing or doing my work, and if that doesn't shut them up I stand up and leave the room - usually to get something off the printer!:)

Not just tell them they're right, but wholeheartedly agree with everything they say, and then take it overboard.

They just won't have a response for you.

Trust me, I've killed quite a few threads in SC. ;)

Strongly acknowledge that you heard what they had to say and that you really understand what they meant. Sometimes you need to get in their face about the fact that you do "get it".

You may even have to put a hand on their shoulder and look them in the eye to get their attention as you speak because they are more interested in speaking than listening.

You do NOT need to validate their position by telling them they are right. Especially if you disagree. You also don't need to tell them where you stand on the issue if you just want them to shut the eff up.
