tooth fairy

I dont lie to the kids about that kinda stuff, they know its me who sneaks into their room and stuffs tons of change under the pillow. They are in awe that I can do it without them waking up. Santas not in their life either. The truth of Christmas is better then the fiction.

Mine did it, and pretty early on I knew it was mom and dad, but I was always willing to play along with anything that involved money or gifts. :D:D

Kids today ... so cynical.:S:P

I think is is good for kids to believe in something like the tooth fairy, Santa, and so on. That is what brings out their imaginations. Yes, I was brought up to believe in all of the above.

I figured out the tooth fairy thing pretty early on, I played possum first time my dad slipped $$ under my pillow.

Santa took me a while to figure out tho, my parents did a nice job there.

I honestly do believe in Santa Claus as an adult. Not that such a figure literally exists, but what he represents. What he invokes in the active imagination. I've had a lot of fun dressing up as Santa. :)

My parents did it and I do it for my kids.

I almost got totally busted when my daughter found some teeth in my jewelry box. I don't believe in lying. So, when she said, "Hey mom. There are teeth in your jewelry box."

I said, "Yes. I know."

She said, "Hey...maybe you're the tooth fairy."

I said, "Maybe I am."

She thought about it for a minute and then she said, "There is NO WAY you are the tooth fairy. You couldn't possibly get around the world to collect all those teeth every night."

Now I'm really disillusioned...this thread sucks, what proof is there that Santa and the tooth fairy don't exist......do you have video?.....until somebody comes up with solid proof I don't believe I'm lying to my kids about Magical stuff:) Cause the story is, the Tooth Fairy doesn't keep the teeth....she just cruises with the money, drops it under the kids pillow, brings the tooth drops it on my dresser, then she's outta there.....now I have to question the wife........believe!...magic makes the world go round

you aren't talking to me... right... cause I'd totally mess with my kids... (I just don't have any and don't really expect to have any...)

I don't have any kids either but I totally agree with messing with their heads in this manner.>:(

it was the ladies at the beginning........I'm an old guy now and I'm so glad my mom still says it's ok to be a kid

celebrating things in different ways does not constitute taking away a childs right to be a kid. Families have different traditions and not all of them have children believing in lies, personally neither is right nor wrong. I think birth of Christ is much more fun to share then Santa. My kids love getting gifts in that way.

My kids have an over active imagination and have not suffered in anyway from believing in Christ over Santa. It works for our family, and thats what matters.

Believing in Santa in no way detracted from my learning about and believing in Christ. The focus of Christmas was always the birth of Christ. But part of the magic was Santa. Santa added to the story. The wise men came and gave gifts to Jesus...and Santa came and brought them to me.
Why can't kids believe in a little magic?

Did your parents say there was one or not?
My niece wants no part of it.
She wants no part of someone sneaking into to her bedroom at night.
Money or no money.
I think she is about to turn on Santa next...:S

my kids are going to be screwed up from me messing with them.....

And yes...my parents told me tooth fairy, easter bunny and santa were all real. It took me several years to realize that they all had the same hand-writing. And interestingly, the hand-writing looked a lot like my father's!!
I continued to write letters to Santa until my father died. I treasure each and every one of those letters.

I'm looking forward to the tooth fairy game with my boy. I'll leave him $5 and leave a note:
"It would have been $10 or $20, but this tooth had a cavity, and you haven't been brushing enough."

I don't think I'll do things like leave a note that mentions bringing pliers next time....

I remember being a little kid and losing a tooth on a trip to California to visit family. I got a silver dollar for that tooth instead of 50 cents. My parents explained to me that things cost more in California and that was why in California, the tooth fairy paid a dollar for teeth.:P

Also, in other parts of the country, there is a glut of spare teeth from citizens both young and old losing them (most of those who are responsible for this excess supply can be seen at an Oak Ridge Boys concert).

So it's a matter of supply - we Californians supply less teeth.;)
