No....it's not wrong to have your future planned out.

Once upon a time....I had it all planned out, complete with insurance, etc. Then about 1 1/2 years ago, my life did a flip-flop.

I know what I THINK I would like to happen if I died...but I don't know how it would get carried out. Or who....

I guess it's time I sat down and made some notes. And since I don't have insurance any more, I need to start saving some money, just in case.

Yep............being that I have an 11 year old it's sort of a must. I have had a will since 1996 I think. I had a lawyer review it in 2005 and he says it's all still good. I get nice life insurance through my job. It's all fairly squared away.

I’d like an ash dive and a simple memorial service at the DZ. I’d like my estate to pay for any costs associated with it. If my family and friends want to come, they’d have to go to the DZ.

I have more assets than debt and enough in life insurance to cover a very elaborate funeral which I don’t want. I also have medical, short-term disability, long-term disability, and long-term care insurance in case I’m injured.

Yes, and durable and health-care powers of attorney.

What I need to do is write a letter letting my executor know who I want to go through my underwear drawer. I don’t particularly want him or my sons to do that. It would be better to assign that task to a trusted girlfriend.

I have a living will and an advanced directive. My oldest son knows where these documents are and he and I have had the conversation. He is the only one I trust to see that things go as I would wish regardless of what others want or think should be done.

I have made my wishes known implictly that I wish to be an organ/tissue/cornea (and anything else they can use) donor.I do not wish to be on any life-support if I cannot sustain a 'normal quality of life' without it including a DNR agreement.I've discussed cremation w/my husband but I'm sure my parents would want my body returned to my home town for burial.I havent decided which way I'd go so they would have to come to an agreement amongst themselves.If cremated I want part of my ashes spread over Ireland.

I'll keep things as is for now because my husband and family get along well at present.But if at any time I see there may be a problem carrying out my wishes or think they would fight over anything then I will put things in order with legal documentation.At that time my husband will be my power of attourney in all medical/health and financial matters and the executor of my estate.

Me too.....obviously by the question I posted. I'm not suicidal or anything, mind you. It's just that the realization that the one I would want to take care of things probably couldn't come home to do so and it has REALLY been bothering me. It makes me feel very alone. My blood family is over 900 miles away and my mom doesn't drive. I don't know if they'd even come to take care of it.

I'm single with no kids and as far as I'm concerned, the bank can repo my car and other creditors can eat my accounts. My parents are well enough off that they can deal with my remains as they see fit without much worry. I have enough put away in various accounts that everything would probably be a wash.
