So who is NOT having the traditional Thanksgiving meal?

Recommended Posts

I WISH I was, but alas the family likes turkey and dressing. Ugh, not me. The best Thanksgiving meal I ever had was when a friend with a Chinese wife came over for Thanksgiving dinner. She cooked traditional Chinese food for me and my wife cooked turkey and dressing for her husband.

We are heading to our favorite SEAFOOD restaurant. It is the final year that they will be open (on the beach, owners sold it to make room for MORE fucking condos!) Tuna instead of turkey!! WooHoo!

I rented a motorhome...the wife , daughter and I are heading for Pacific Beach in San Diego.
Our Thanksgiving dinner will be at Joes Crab Shack.
Prior to it being Joes...it was The Rusty Pelican.
Its a tradition I started 20 years ago to get away from having to eat with my mother in law.

I don’t like the holidays, but I do like traditional holiday food. Not because the food is good for me. It seems like it’s all starch on a plate. I just like traditional food on traditional days. I can do without the family get togethers though.

This year a friend is flying in to attend the CSS Thanksgiving Boogie with me. The friend doesn’t like traditional Thanksgiving fare. It means more to me to have my friend there than having the traditional food. So…..

Casablanca Couscous – originally a vegan recipe, but since my friend is a carnivore, I’ll substitute chicken for the tofu. Other ingredients include onion, carrots, celery, mushrooms, chickpeas, tomato sauce, spices, wine, pecans and raisins… served over couscous…

I’ll also make some green bean stir-fry that has a sauce made from soy sauce, garlic, toasted sesame seeds, brown sugar and peanut butter. Yummy!
What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy

Hmmm.... my thanksgiving is going to be pretty untraditional.

I'm a student in FL and usually just stay here for thanksgiving since the break is so short, but I broke down and agreed to fly home to Jersey for two days where my parents want to go down to the casino's in Atlantic City and have thursday dinner down there. They are getting older, all the kids are out of the house, and they just don't want to deal with the hassle of dinner and dishes I guess.

I'm sure gonna miss a traditional dinner, though! [:/]
Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Oooh, casino Thanksgivings are fun! Back in 1998, my brother was stationed at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas and I was living in LA, so I spent Thanksgiving with him since it was an easier trip than going back east. We said "screw cooking" since it was just the two of us and hit a casino buffet for the big meal. Nothing like a little turkey and blackjack to celebrate the season!
