Slowfaller 0 #7 May 19, 2008 I was born in '81 so I was into whatever my big brother was into. Had this song memorized One armed drummer FTW Could've been the next led zep In about 1988 or 87 my parents banned me from MTV because "It made me crazy". A Poison video came on so I ran upstairs to get this toy microphone I had that had a stand which plugged into a base. This thing had lights that would come up from the base and your voice would come out of two crappy speakers, also in the base. Another thing I needed were my GI Joe winter gloves that my mom cut the fingers off of. Man I was a 6 year old rock star! What got me banned was on the way back down to the tv room I knocked a gate over and it slid down the stairs. --"Someday you will die and somehow somethings going to steal your carbon" -MM

kimemerson 7 #12 May 19, 2008 Madness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIdfiCybLAE&feature=related One hit wonders. By that I mean one hit worth listening to. Flock of Seagulls if for no reason other than the absolutely brilliant fingering of the keyboardist. Stunning work, really. And such a looker! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUjIA3Rt7gk Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark. A lot of good tunes. Take your pick. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ig2Q4Ub4TnM&feature=related Simply Red. Not a better known cover of a great Cole Porter song, but a good cover nevertheless. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ig2Q4Ub4TnM&feature=related Violent Femmes: an inspiration to any would be vocalist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ra8VTlXVqUQ

BillyVance 34 #14 May 19, 2008 Quote I'll start... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMwdAc1Dzfg&NR=1 Arrrgh!!! I couldn't decide which one I couldn't stand to watch - that one or Boy George. Watching them was like trying to sit through nails being scraped across a blackboard! Squeak, I remember the Dead Kennedys, as punk rock as anybody can get, they were it. Never had the popularity of The Clash though and I had all of The Clash's LPs. lawrocket 3 #19 May 19, 2008 My favorite 80's? heck, I thought most of the music sucked so I was busy digging on the 60's and 70's. Which explains my first choice.... Traveling Wilburys (I remember where I was when I learned Orbison died) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHtQCUOr4lw Social Distortion - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzlyy657KJc Anything by Public Enemy, the Minutemen, Anthrax, etc. There was so much good stuff out there that didn't get a whole lotta airplay - though I'll credit Guns & Roses and Motley Crue for being bad asses! kimemerson 7 #23 May 19, 2008 well, I once bought a double cassette - two album's worth of Madness. And I found I could only tolerate the one song, "One Step Beyond", which seems to me to be quite a departure from "Our House". "One Step Beyond" was the only one i could listen to, and I honestly loved that song still. If I can find that tape, would you like to own it? More:(Don't you love youtube?) Asia: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-6GhodMhcik Cars:And this is just the one I chose. http://youtube.com/watch?v=ltoo2YLMri8 And who can forget (though that might be a desirable thing to do)http://youtube.com/watch?v=adaYUM5wl7c There are probably better videos, but... lawrocket 3 #24 May 19, 2008 Oh, GOD NO, BILLY! George Harrison. The guy who brought us, "Something." The guy who wrote "Here Comes the Sun" and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps." And my personal favorite, "Isn't it a Pity?" And he scores a big hit with that fucking song? My wife is hotter than your wife.
