ltdiver 3 #1 February 22, 2009 For those of you who are following the "How to get cats to stop pissing" thread here's my follow-up dilemma. What color should I repaint my porch? It used to be a light green. My house stucco color is a very light grey, and the trim blue. The tile table in this picture is new and I'd like to compliment it as well. I also have a front porch to paint, but that can wait. The front door to compliment is a mahogany brown. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

ltdiver 3 #7 February 23, 2009 Quote Lori, Concrete or wood? There are some great concrete stains out in the brick red and sealers. Picture should show the cement floor of the porch. Interesting you should comment about stains. Just found this web site that mentions stains for concrete floors. http://www.stretcher.com/stories/05/05sep05a.cfm I also like the idea of a cement sander instead of a chemical paint stripper to get up the remaining old paint. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

BIGUN 1,098 #11 February 23, 2009 QuotePicture should show the cement floor of the porch. I thought so, but the picture on this end was a little light. I had some friends do the concrete stain thing, but they rented a concrete buffer and did some kind of acid thingy to smooth it out, then power-washed it, then stained it, then sealed it... looked great.Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. Yeah, a link on staining/painting mentioned the same thing: http://www.essortment.com/home/paintfloorporc_saeo.htm "A new concrete porch should be allowed to cure for 90 to 180 days before painting. It will also be necessary to acid etch a new concrete floor with a 10 percent solution of muriatic acid to allow the paint to adhere properly. After the acid treatment, paint on one coat of concrete primer. Allow the primer to dry at least eight hours. Paint on two coats of latex paint using either a roller or spray rig. Use a paint brush to get around the edges. Allow the paint to cure for a minimum of two days before walking on the floor." Since my concrete porch isn't new, and it was painted before, I believe I can skip the acid step. btw, what color did -you- use on your porch? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

happythoughts 0 #18 February 23, 2009 Instead of wasting time painting it, spend an afternoon making loops out of a bunch of short pieces of scotch tape. Distribute the loops out on the porch and pour yourself a beer. Have you ever seen a cat with tape on the bottom of its paws? Hours of entertainment and more satifisfying than painting.
