AFF. Who were your main and reserve side JM's. Chris Irwin was the RSJM. Told me to relax. "piece of cake" Just wondering.

Hi aka,
Didn't have no reserveside or mainside JM's!! Gill said,"GO!!" I was,"GONE!!" 08MAY64, AFF was way off in the future. BTW, Me, Jerry and Pat Swovelin, Nancy Gruttman, Don Rumble, Bob Burher, Mike Johnson and a few others were in the first "open" USPA AFF Certification Course at Perris in MAR82. The course was run by Mike Johnston and Jack Gregory.

Well, there was AFF around when I started but I went the static line route... Harold Mitchell was my instructor when I did my first jump in '93. :)

Jay Stokes and .... Hmmm ... I can't remember the name of the other guy. Didn't see him around at the DZ much after my first AFF jump.

Main side - My Right Hand.
Reserve Side - My Left Hand.

1992 - IAD from a Cessna 152 with a Piglet 23 Round Main. No AAD, SOS/ROL Rig, Jump Master was also the Pilot. Hand him the pilot chute and step out on the strut. He would fly the plane with one hand and hold on to the Pilot chute with the other.

Landing procedure: Hand all the way up, Feet and Knees Together and PLF soon as you get bitch slapped by a planet.

If you did real good you first couple jumps, You got to go to 3500 feet. :P
Fortunately that DZ is no longer around.

First Jump Course and 1st Jump cost $90. After that jumps were $40 for a while.

1985 - S/L. One had to go to FL for AFF, some new-fangled instructional method.

Bill Scott (today DZO Skydive Monroe) was SLI & JM. I wonder if he still teaches 1hr+ PLFs?

Stewart Cavanaugh (sp) main side and Jim Vance reserve side.... (I might have the sides wrong but I think that's right)...

Last I heard... Stewart inherited a substiantal amount of money, stopped skydiving, and disappeared... but it was second hand...

I ran into Jim Vance while on Vacation in Eloy last winter. I hadn't seen him a few years before running into him last year and it was interesting running into him.

***Jeremy Wilder (reserve side), and Chris (I don't remember his last name)...

That's Chris Simpson, and please refer to Jeremy as Luke Skywalker from now on, that's what he really wants to be called anyway.

Thanks... I knew it started with an S...
Luke skywalker? How is he doing?

There wasn't an option for AFF at the time at Skydive New England in Lebanon, Maine. Back then they had just a little 182. Boy has that placed changed.

My static line instructor was Mel.... Gosh I wish I could remember his last night. H something maybe.

Anyhow... some of us didn't need two instructors to hold our hands.

AFF in 2007 at Star Skydiving Center, Star, ID

Brian Corey on my reserve side....Coy Chapman on my main.

Brian Corey is an awesome man......full of great stories.....that no matter how much you beg and plead.....and show boobies....he will not let you part take in any of the stupid skydiver tricks. I'm pretty sure he has saved many of my bones from being broken around the bonfire.

BTW, I filmed Chris's first jump, when he went threw AFF , he was our instant example tape for the course! (for almost every level for that matter) The guy was a natural from day one!
