npgraphicdesign 2 #1 September 22, 2011 Seriously...do people really KNOW what love is? How the hell do you know if you truly love someone? Why are you required to say 'i love you' to someone 2-3 months (or less) after you start dating them? When I see young kids saying ' I love you ' almost automatically to each other, it makes me wonder...are they even aware of what it means ?? Oh and the look of discomfort on the face of this teen when his gf said 'I love you' to him on the train today...it was priceless. Its a trap really... Regardless of who says it first, it always puts immense pressure on the other person. If they don't say it back, then the 'he/she didn't say it back...do they love me or not?' doubting begins. dirtbox 0 #4 September 22, 2011 Ha! I don't believe in it. A person should be able to tell how much you care by how you treat them, saying a stupid commercialised word with almost no real meaning doesn't really prove shit... that said my current girlfriend finds it odd (though she gets it and know how I feel about her regardless of the word) and other people, when discussing this view, normally just think I am bitter or someshit :P
normiss 622 #5 September 22, 2011 I LOVE seeing Skymama in her panties, does that count? It is easily thrown around I believe, but if you feel it why wouldn't you say it? No worries, no pressure. Part of love is letting go of that fear and going for it. If you're more concerned with their happiness than your own is that a sign? Think of them first in everything? It's only a trap if you let it make you feel that way. YMMV

JohnMitchell 14 #7 September 22, 2011 Quote If you're more concerned with their happiness than your own is that a sign? I think that's one of the best signs of true love. You're a smart man ( But of course, you're dating Skymama). The early "I love you"s? Well, a lot of that is hormones, but hey, it makes the world go 'round. Since the words mean nothing to you, but a lot for her to hear, put her needs in front of your own and say it. skymama 35 #9 September 22, 2011 Quote I LOVE seeing Skymama in her panties, does that count? I LOVE that you love seeing me out of them too. I also love that you stayed home from work yesterday because you were worried about strangers coming to the house for a meeting with me and also how you told me to take your Pimpmobile yesterday so you could go get my tire fixed. The words "I love you" are definitely nice to hear but loving actions also send the message. I do feel that most young girls probably say it too soon. They should be saying "I lust you" instead. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
dirtbox 0 #10 September 22, 2011 but she understands my 'understanding' of the word so saying it would be hollow - going to this orchestra tonight shows 'love' (I was born without a musical gene (we both mock my musical ability ) and I'd rather walk over coals than attend something musical but with her I'll go and there is a decent chance I'll enjoy it because I am there with her. A few notes slipped into the pockets of different clothes she wears also helps :P ) but seriously it is one of those words that people use when they have no logical way to express themselves or validate their point like when arguing with religious whack jobs or people who blindly follow cultural or political ideals and just repeat a stated belief without being able to provide a reason why. On the down side we will be going our seperate ways after 18months at the end of next week
