TriGirl 278 #3 June 20, 2014 Saw it on the news this morning. I want one! (this from someone whose first bike was a 2001 Dyna Superglide). See the upside, and always wear your parachute! -- Christopher Titus Shut Up & Jump!
PLFXpert 0 #4 June 20, 2014 We just sold our Dyna Superglide. May be in the market... I read about Livewire yesterday; I like it! My only question as the passenger is: Will the engine still vibrate? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

ryoder 1,412 #6 June 20, 2014 http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/06/19/harley-davidson-unveils-first-electric-motorcycle/ The prototype is powered by a longitudinally-mounted electric motor rated at 74 hp and 52 lb-ft of torque, on par with H-D’s 833 cc internal combustion engine. The battery-powered unit was developed with help from electric powertrain specialist Mission Motors. Harley-Davidson says the belt-driven bike can accelerate from 0-60 mph in under four seconds, and has an electronically restricted top speed of 92 mph. So far, so good. The current range of the development version of Project LiveWire is 53 miles per charge, but Chief Engineer Jeff Richlen says H-D will be soliciting feedback from current and potential customers to find out the sort of performance they’d expect from this type of motorcycle if it makes it to production. Ugh."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
yoink 321 #7 June 20, 2014 I love the look and idea of it, as well as the relatively short charge time. I'd like to see the range improve a little, but it'll all come down to price. If it's relatively cheap, it could be a fun little toy. If they price it higher I'd rather get a traditional sport bike.

Ugh. I could understand it if someone wanted just a bike to ride to work on sunny days, but much more than that would be hard to justify to me. I wonder if they're going to use the Tesla patented charging systems and how that whole system will pan out. Also wonder what the re-charge time would be for such a small battery, but even with a short recharge time, 53 miles per charge is pretty dang short."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Several years ago a co-worker got to test-ride/wring-out a Zero, and told me all about it. I've been periodically checking on their progress. First obstacle is the price. Second is that if you want better range, there is a battery upgrade."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. normiss 644 #10 June 20, 2014 I'll take the Brammo Empulse please. For now anyway.....HD gets their performance, range, and features the same or better, then I like the Harley better. I do like the styling on the Harley.

BIGUN 1,106 #12 June 20, 2014 1. First issue - That's got the Harley name; but Pic 1 is a Harley (i.e., "Diehard Harley"). 2. OK, so you took a vRod and put an electric pack in it. 3. There will be a market for bar hopping city folk, but not the hardcore rider. 4. Get it up to at least 100 miles on a charge to be on par with the smallest gas tank for refueling. 5. Am I understanding correctly that it requires a 220 charge capability?Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. I get it. shorter front end and aluminum frame. But, very compatible in styling If nothing else, the vRod posed some inspiration on the frame.
