  1. I looked at the canon site and it seems to basically be a D60 with only a couple of extra features and a much smaller price tag. Is this about right???? I think I'm with Quade on this one. No reason to replace my D60 with it. It's good to know that if my D60 quit working I could replace it for much cheaper-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  2. Just a thought here, If you looked at who jumps top mount as their primary set-up vs. who jumps side mount as their primary set-up then asked how long each have been doing video, I bet most of the top mount people have been doing video longer. This isn't good or bad, but like one said it is personal preference and I think people with top-mounts just get used to it and don't want to change sometimes. Only a thought. Nothing to prove anything :)-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  3. I've been doing it when I'm not on the load with a tandem video and I charge $15 for an 8x10. I charge $15 for a screen size email. why should some get an 8x10 on the computer screen for next to nothing just because its easy to email, while someone else gets an 8x10 on paper but has to pay $15. I quit doing cheap e-mails. I don't do full files anymore. Thats like giving away the negative. The difference is you have countless originals on the digital side. I only do 72dpi at about 800x600. (720x576 actually are the pixel dimensions of the 8x10 print size)So many things are going electronic now, so just because it is easier to email a file to someone and you are saving a bit on paper, don't think that you should nearly give it away. 4. I listened to Maynard 20 years ago in school when I played trumpet/flugelhorn. That makes about 4 who know who he is!-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  5. I don't know of a website, but his phone # is 386-943-9253. I've had my helmet from him for 4 years now. They are incredible helmets!-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  6. This shot was done withe the D60 and Nikon SB28 flash& PC sync cable. Batteries in the flash. It makes you wait for the photo, & sometimes the photo is at the wrong time, but with some practice you can get away with only having X amount of flashes per jump. I used to use a bantam external battery pack, then decided to just go with fresh batteries nearly each time up. My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  7. I use the nikon SB28 flash and use the PC sync cable. it is a very thin short cable so you don't need the giant coil cable that come with some of the hot shoe mounts. It makes it all manual, but if you're flashing a formation you usually don't need any thing auto as sometimes you need lots of power. I have many jumps with a flash and this is the only one I've used in the last 5 years. It is great for a consumer type flash.-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  8. The whole thing is form fit. Some things may be standard such as how wide the plate is (depending on what you want for a set-up) between your face and the fiberglass is a scuba hood. no foam to fill in the gaps. so each helmet is custom all the way through. the top is very close to the top of your head so the weight isnt too far above your head. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  9. there should be 2 attachments-one from the front and a photo from the side of my weshelmet.-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  10. Yes the helmets tha Wes Rich makes are over $1000. I've had mine for 4 years now and have done plenty of jumps with it. Worth every penny if you do lots of jumps. I haven't really tried anything else since I started using this one. It is small, light, and custom fit so it goes on the same everytime. It has all the mounts I need for any camera configuration. They are VERY nice.-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  11. I had 750. I feel like the odd-ball now!-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  12. You can take about 3 fps for 8 frames then about 1 a second until the card is full. It's fast. I have yet to wait on the camera to take a picture. It isn't a long wait either until the next burst of 8 is ready. It has to do with their double buffer. You give a little to shoot digital, but with this camera you give VERY little compared to any other digital of the same price range. (Any I know of) Like I said before it is so much like a real film camera-it's just digital instead. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  13. per square foot I believe the roll is cheaper. As far as using the roll to do regular 8x10 type prints I've never tried that and never priced it out. Panoramas are fun to do, but I guess try to figure out what you want from a printer and how big/fast you want it to print. I was mostly just saying that the 1280 is nice as you can do more with it that like the 785. (or the 780 like I have also)-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  14. The epson 1280 is just about the same printer as my 1270. (it's the same print quality, but a bit faster and a couple of other things) This is an amazing printer. You can get them new around $400. It will do 13" by I think 44 feet with roll paper. The 1270 is what I've been using for almost 2 years. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  15. Around 2 years ago a 6-megapixel SLR camera was $18,000. They actually sold these for that price. I guess the new Canon is just another step in the progression that seems to be going nuts. (in a good way). Now they have them for $2000. The digital cameras are just computers. As soon and you get one its outdated and the next one is often cheaper or better for the same money. I've been doing freefall digitals for 2 years now and watched this happen with my cameras. I also finally have some Canon D60 photos posted as my computer is going again. These are all shot with the D60. The swoop progression on one photo shows how fast the camera is. :)-Tony H. http://www.tonyhathaway.com/gallery%20D60%20october/index.htm My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  16. It came through the networking cable. I had a good surge protector on it. This is the same lightning bolt that vaporized a car antenna and damaged a Porsche's electronics about 100 feet away from my computer. (The closest lightning I've ever seen). Luckily all of my information is still on the drives. My CR-RW didn't work right, and the mother board had problems so I bought a nice new one with lots of stuff! :) -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  17. I've been using the D60 for almost 2 months now. It is amazing. Everything about it is a real camera but it's digital and not film. Like I've said before, I have 7 or 8 nikon lenses and I still went with the Canon D60 over the Nikon D100 and had to start building up my lens collection for canon because I think it is a better camera PLUS it has the PC flash sync port and the electronic release. I will post some photos from it as soon as I get my web-site running again. (My computer was destroyed by lightning and I'm just getting everything going again) Thanks-Tony H. 18. When I got my VX200 I had what looked like tape flutter also. They told me on a normal bright day to use the ND filter on 2. This fixed the "flutter" problem. I don't know if any has mentioned this, but there it is again anyway. Thanks-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  19. I bought the canon d60 right after I posted something about the d100 on here. I really had to start over with the canon as I've been a nikon user for years now. If anyone is looking to do freefall work and is wondering about the D100 vs. the D60 I would tell anyone, no matter how much Nikon stuff you have to go with the Canon D60. ( I have almost $4000 in nikon things and had 0 in Canon stuff) The D60 is fast, and I havent found myself waiting for the buffer to free up. I can take a photo when I want to-not when the camera will let me. Canon D60-pc flash sync at 1/200 Nikon D100 NO pc flash sync terminal (1/160 sync speed I think) Canon D60-electronic release Nikon D100-NO electronic release Basically, the D60 is a real SLR camera. You treat it like a real camera, it's fast like a real camera, it focuses like a real camera, you push the button and it takes a picture immediately like a real camera-it just happens to be digital. The canon shoots quicker than the Nikon also. As far as digital goes, you may be surprised at what's been printed in PARACHUTIST that was a digital photo!!!!! Hope some of this helps. -Tony Hathaway www.tonyhathaway.com My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  20. Call Sally at Paragone Rigging. She owns the rigging shop on the DZ at Skydive City in Zephyrhills. She builds all the line sets for Jedei's and Jonathans. (813) 779-0239. My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  21. Only one of my camera suits has a regular wing. Even my "regular" camera suits has the wing closer to his "C" wing than his regular wing. I've been using sort of my own desigs on my suits for that. My 4-way camera suit has a different material, and a slightly different shape than the C wing so it has A LOT OF LIFT for flying in the burble of a 4-way. However, the C wing on my belly is great. Like I said, if I'm just doing a couple of 4-way videos I use the jacket. If I'm doing the serious stuff I dont. If I HAD to choose only one for everything it would be the "C" wing because it is nice for everything. The "flat" suit I have isn't very good for on back stuff. Hope some of this helps. Thanks-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  22. I use Tonys jacket for most of my camera jumps. If I'm doing serious 4-way video I have a suit for that. For all others, tandem-aff-big-way-fun RW, I use that. (weather dependant however) I clip it to a ring sewn into my leg pad. I used it the other way, when it was first made but didn't like it . Its really about what you get used to. As far as Tony Suits "C" wing jacket the first one he built was for me and I've been using it ever since! I have probably 3 thousand jumps on them. All that being said, I've never jumped any other camera suit so comparing them to others I have no way to do that. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  23. Does anyone know if you can convert PAL to NTSC with premiere? Any help would be nice. Sorry if this has already been on here. Thanks-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  24. I checked out a D100 in the local store in Tampa. They only had a demo model. It was quite a nice camera. The only drawback I can see is there is no electronic shutter release. Only a cable release. (you need the optional vetical grip to get an electronic release) I'm still thinking of getting one as I am having someone build a release for it. I think it will be nice for freefall. Just a little inconvenient. My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
