  1. I thought I'd post a couple of my favorites. -A shuttle launch from 100 miles away during a full moon. -A beer dive -One shot with 1/40th shutter speed for motion. You can see the motion of the girls spinning, but the ground is still crystal clear. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  2. Thank you! -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  3. I will be in Chicago sunday/monday june 18/19. Anyone in chicago have a room I could rent? I will need to be downtown chicago on monday. Anywhere close would be great I can take a train. I figure I'd save some money instead of getting a hotel, and someone could make a few bucks as well. Email or PM me and let me know. Thanks very much. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.

  7. Here is a link to the few photos I did from the big-way weekend at Skydive City Z-Hills. Thanks-Tony http://www.tonyhathaway.com/fotoserv/preview.php4?event=1282006/400April www.tonyhathaway.com My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  8. I toured the PRS factory about 8 years ago. Very cool! My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't AFF-I's only need to make 15 AFF jumps a year to be "current" according to uspa? 15? I don't believe they say aynything about how many other jumps you do. This was always a point of controversy with me and our regional director years ago. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  10. I showed up at a large dz last year with a partial logbook ( just to not travel around with the whole book) I couldn't jump until the dz got a fax from my dz saying i was current. I log all of my jumps. I only had the last sheet from my book. My D license wasn't good enough. They wanted a bunch of numbers in a book. A few numbers on one page wasn't good enough! -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  11. Auto focus, or auto everything is great if you want the camera to deterrmine how the photo will come out. at least with manual you can put your subject out of center and get the image YOU want. Cameras today will shoot a great photo on full auto. Again, it shoots what it sees and determines what it thinks best. If you play around with some manual setttings, you may find that you ruin a lot of photos learning, but in the end they will come out just like you plan before you go up. Usually better than auto-whatever. auto has itl place at times, but not always. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  12. I'd bet that some info on here 2 years ago was read by at least a few of those that were killed last year. The info is out there-and has been, some choose to ignore it, some choose to forget it. Some people will read or hear about last years fatalities and will this year die themselves. How this will happen, and who, is yet to be determined, but who disagrees that it will happen? There are very few new ways to kill yourself being invented. yes, it does happen, but Its so often the same old stuff. Most people I see when they hear about a fatality their justification to themselves is "well I would just do this or that....." and that clears their mind so they can go jump again. Once again, I'd bet that some of the dead did the same thing so they felt better about jumping. On a good day you can still leave the DZ in a body bag. Maybe through no fault of your own, maybe 100% your own fault. The trick is to do what you can to NOT let that happen. Sounds easy but since I started jumping about 3-400 people (someone knows the numbers since 1988) in this country alone have proven that it isnt as easy as it sounds. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  13. There is a dilema. How do you teach someone to progress with parachute sizes and speed at a reasonable pace, when their mentality is "I want to go fast" That is often coupled with a form of "I don't really need help" , or "they don't really know my skill" That is human nature. The ones who listen to, or seek advice, and sometimes pay for it, are often the ones who don't need it as much as the ones who won't take it even when its free. You can teach them if they want to listen, you can't change the mindset of the ones who want to go fast and think they're OK on their own. Speed now, the known consequences of that speed ins't a deterrent. I've heard it said "it's nothing 10,000 jumps can't fix". That can fix the skydiving issue, the people issue takes 10,000 years. 14. 13's are fine. I've 12 jumps that had "666" at the end of the number. now those are spooky! My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  15. Thanks everyone. I booked the Motel6 someone suggested. it seemed to be the best price/proximity to where I needed to be. Thanks again. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  16. I should be in Las Vegas fri. Oct. 7th - Mon. Oct.10th. I'm trying to find a hotel. Its going to cost $700-900 just for hotel for 3 nights. Anyone live there know of cheap hotels??? send me a PM if you know of any other places you could tell me about. Thanks very much-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  17. I think I have figured PART of it out. Example: if someone makes a book, the photos are usually the only part of that book that are already done. The layout needs DOING, the printing need DOING, the text needs WRITTEN, the photos ,often times, are DONE. Thats the only thing I can figure out that sort of makes sense. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  18. The same as last year. Kodak 14n, 24mm (as my standard) sb800/sb28 flashes. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  19. Here is a link to the photos I did at Summerfest this last weekend. http://www.tonyhathaway.com/fotoserv/preview.php4?event=1302005/080Summerfest_Chicago Thanks-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  20. Most of the reasons posted here are NOT going to be the reason you need a hook knife. You plan for one thing, and something else happens. Thats so often the way it is. Surprises are always around the corner. My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  21. My take is that it just makes you faster. Lead makes you faster. The only difference I see is that lead is the accepted way to go faster. You can still dearch and go slower. Its just slower relative to where you started. I'm only 150lbs. I don't spend much time in an RW suit. I don't spend much time arching. (with all of the camera) So when I do RW where I need to go faster , I like to be comfortable and neutral sort of where I'm used to. I wore the "football" (again, rolled up pants) on all 10-rounds of 4-way at last years nationals. I get some funny looks, but I figure its about the skydiving, not the look.TRY IT! Just do a couple of jumps. If you're going with the same group on 2 jumps, wear your normal weight on one, then the football on the other. If you think It doesn't work, then arch more for the one jump. It couldn't be simpler. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  22. It works. Placeboes work also. People will add 2 pounds because they think it works. You go faster by arching more, or adding weight. I choose not to carry around weight. I don't actually use a nerf ball now. I just take a pair of cargo pants (or whatever is close to that) roll it up then put it in the suit. Like Ron said, it looks goofy ( but so do booties and helmets but they work )I don't do much RW in a year now, but when I do thats what I use-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  23. I have to say I shot that video in about 1998. My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  24. Sometimes its easier to ask someone in person about this. Next time you're out, find me and I'll explain. Some winds make it easier to land, some winds make it more difficult. I have NO wind limit. I have a turbulence limit. My turbulence limit always happens before many others wind limit. A wind speed # doesn't always tell the whole story. -Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
  25. It still happens now. relatively low-timers jumping "faster" canopies. Whatever the canopy may be. I was a part of that crowd. Jumping a 97 for the first time at my old DZ. Everyone watching was nervous, I wasn't. I could handle it. Now, having done many jumps, I jumped a velocity for the first time recently. Nobody WATCHING was nervous, but I was. Funny how that can flip-flop along with a few jumps!-Tony My O.C.D. has me chasing a dream my A.D.D. won't let me catch.
