  1. What? Are you telling me '16 and pregnant' doesn't prepare you to a life of welfare checks and alimony collection? Apparently, it's good for the resume too when applying for porno jobs You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  2. And why would you encourage us to do that? You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  3. Saw this on Chalet Suzanne's FB that was commenting on the matter. One of the frequent jumpers at LW said this: "To start with, he was asking others at the dropzone what did they think would happen if he wore shorts and let the visitors see his tattoo. He also stated that he wondered if his blog would receive more donations due to the recent activity." Seems to me, at least, the more this goes on, the more he staged it all. 5. Wow good find. The more anyone lies about the details. the harder it is to take anything they say as being true You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  6. I'm one of the last people that will ever like the PC nature the world has fallen for. That being said, I'm also a fan of both sides of an encounter getting to say whatever they want, no matter where they came from. I'm also a fan of private business being allowed to operate more or less as they see fit. I doubt I know anymore about this guy's true character than anyone else. I can only go by what's been said and done. I did spend a few years in the Corps. 96-99. I had hoped to fly for them, but a broken ankle ended that dream and my service (honorable medical). My service was pretty unremarkable, though I did enjoy it. You ask where I would draw the line, and this is IMHO, why I think the DZ was in the right to at least try and mediate some sort of peace between the two. The tattoo in question is intentionally a big middle finger to a very large group of people. A cross, US flag, star of David, etc. is not an "Eff you" statement. As such, I don't like the take that tries to portray the LW dz as a place that is intolerant and unpatriotic because they were trying to keep the peace (especially since I know the everyone over there, and they're a great group). Had LW on the other hand told a guy to cover up a t-shirt / tattoo with a flag, star, or cross (something that is not intentionally provocative), I'd not be siding with them at all on their call, but I'd certainly stand up for their right to run their business as they see fit (but I doubt I'd jump there anymore). Hope that clears up where I'm coming from. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

  8. They don't have a right not to be offended. But they certainly have the right to speak their mind by saying, "I find that deeply offensive." This is not about one group forcing others to accept their beliefs anymore than a black guy is forcing others to accept his when he's sitting in a restaurant, sees a white guy with a shirt that says "Eff N*s" and complains to management. And as far as I can tell, the only one with fragile feelings is the guy that didn't try and work something out, talk to the other party, or anything else other than pick up and leave. That's what my 4 year old does when she doesn't get her way. That's not what a grown man does. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  9. My thoughts are mixed: Good thing - Will help prevent some unwanted pregnancies, - Will help reduce the financial burden on kids, their families and society as a whole - Other Bad thing - Adversely affects the thinking about potential pregnancy - Induce more to participate before developing responsibility - Promotes casual sex. (I may have put that in the wrong category ) You forgot Good thing - Kids are clearly smart enough to know what to take, how often, side effects, etc. - Parents shouldn't ever be included on what's going on with their kid You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

  11. Here's a better analogy if you want to run with race: A guy walks into a restaurant dressed in a hooded white robes with the symbol of an encircled cross and blooddrop in the center. A number of patrons in the establishment complain, and the owner asks him to change clothes (or leave). The guy goes home and complains he's a wounded vet and his rights have been trampled on. 12. She said... Somewhat minor nit here, and obviously I appreciate the he-said-she-said nature of this, but she apparently went from "can you cover it with clothing?" to "can you wrap your leg in duct tape?" I still think the whole thing is silly but c'mon, the guy isn't a dryer vent. Maybe suggest a sweatband or an ace bandage? Knowing Betty, she was probably just spitballing ideas as they came to her. I'm sure if he had said, "What about using an ace bandage?" she would have said that was fine. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  13. General reply. I saw these two posts on LW's FB page. "Just in from Ohio CALLING ALL SKYDIVERS: SUPPORT LAKE WALES SKYDIVING!! There have been many recent, incredibly hateful posts to the DZ's page, but I personally know the man who's trying to destroy the dropzone's reputation, so please read on for another perspective that hasn't been spoonfed to you online. This good-intentioned DZ recently came under harsh scrutiny due to a first-time patron - Eddie Bryant - who disapproved of a small request by the establishment and began a mission to completely defame the facility. What's most disturbing is that he used his military background & Internet influence to turn the incident into headline news, making the DZ appear to be hateful, unsupportive of our troops, disrespectful to our veterans, and anti-American across the board. This could not be further from the truth!!! This is not the first time this man has used his background to make a point, gain attention, or even have a little extra stroke of his enormous ego. Besides bad-mouthing, dishonoring, or maligning the soldiers/heroes of our country, there is nothing more REPULSIVE than USING YOUR RESPECTED MILITARY STATUS to win a PETTY argument and destroy a reputation for the mere sake of "winning." I've seen the horribly destructive comments to Lake Wales Skydiving and it breaks my heart b/c the TRUE skydiving community is diverse, open-minded, caring, accepting, and most always exceptionally welcoming & non-confrontational to its new visitors. People, please get your facts straight before posting nasty, hateful comments about a situation that you know only one side to - especially when one of the sides has a much larger online presence than this particular DZ. If you know Eddie Bryant personally, then by all means share your opinion. Otherwise, quit perpetuating the strongly prejudiced viewpoint." and "Let me apologize for your run in with eddie bryant. Weve dealt with him in ohio for too long. His ego is unparralleled and he never passes an opportunity to make himself the center of attention. I have no doubt he blew the situation out of proportion. Ill definitely be coming by to jump at your dz! " Seems to me like this guy is far from innocent. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  14. Teh? Everytime I've been there they've been busy. Someone (and lots of them) are jumping there. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

  16. Buckshot spreads about 1" per yard. In a household shooting, it's no where near a wall of lead, more like the size of a dinner plate at most. There's no reason to hit anyone you don't want to hit other than extremely poor aim -- unless of course, there's someone directly behind/in front of your target, in which case a pistol is still likely to strike them if you can't aim well. 17. Little does this guy realize, there's a manuscript variation that lists the number as 616. Maybe we've been chasing the wrong number down all along You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  18. August 1940, Dornier 17 warplane shot down with standard infanty issue Lee Enfield .303 rifle. Jets have been brought down by birds too. Let's ban parrots (and others) as pets. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  19. Well, the Spitfire was armed with 303s, but the Hurricane was armed with 37mm cannon. Which plane do you think won the Battle of Britain, professor? The hurricane was the unsung hero of the BoB, and both the cane and the spit were armed with 303s at the time. The spitfire got a pair of 20mms early on in the war with the mk IIB, but they were only 60 round drums and had feeding problems. It wasn't until the mk V that the spit sported 120 round drums and no feeding issues (and finally got on par with Germany's 109 / 190). That being said, the cane wasn't fitted with 37mm, they were 40mm for the mk IID and by then, the hurricane was being used for ground attack (which was also the primary role of the IIc which had 4 20mm hispanos). The cane was too slow to really compete with the bf109 or FW190. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  20. No, it came from http://www.palookavillepost.com/2013/02/07/feinstein-and-boxer-ask-californians-to-lay-down-their-weapons-during-statewide-manhunt/ which is a satire / parody site like The Onion You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  21. I didn't say it was better or worse. The question was asked what would $300k be worth if you stuck it in a jar. All I did was answer that question with historic data. Similarly, using long standing historic data, you'd probably be looking at 8% (after inflation) with stocks after 30 years, which would give you about 3M worth of purchasing power. IMHO, if you can weather the ups and downs and don't need the money in the near / semi near future, its best just to invest and forget, to speak, and the closer retirement comes, its probably a good idea to move to more stable investments so if/when retirement comes, you aren't in a dip when you need to withdraw. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  22. I'm not seeking a formula. All varibles have been excluded including interest earned and inflation. So It should be pretty simple. If you put $300K in a cookie jar. How much will be there when you want to take the money. You'll have paper that's printed out to say $300,000, but after 30 years of average inflation, you'll only have about $126,000 in purchasing power. So in effect, you lost 174k or 58% of your investment. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  23. Brother in Law has a SKS, its fun to shoot. I've got a Mosin and recently put some Mojo sights on it http://www.mojosights.com/. Best upgrade ever and with the greatly improved sight picture, I'm getting some pretty awesome accuracy with it for being a surplus rifle. This was at the 50 yard line, fired 5 right most group, adjusted the windage, and brought it more center with the next 5. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
  24. I'm just happy I have a 403(b) instead so I don't have to deal with all these flaws in the 401(k). ditto :) You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
