  1. Keep in mind that a minute of tunnel time cost about the same as a regular jump ticket. If you are deploying at 5000 ft, from a 14,000 ft exit, you are getting about 50 seconds of freefall / flying time. So, not really overly expensive. Life is short ... jump often.
  2. Terry ....... I just hope none of us ever find ourselves on our bellies at terminal velocity at 750' or on our back at 1000' ...... unless we are knocked out, there is no reason we should be. Jump Safe. Life is short ... jump often.
  3. Thanks for posting ...... Life is short ... jump often.
  4. I call Bull Shit. I don't believe it ever happened. There is no way a Tandem instructor would let a student move their arms back toward their pockets ( aka - toward the handles ). Show the picture. Life is short ... jump often.
  5. Time has come to rise Time has come to fall ..... ..... Rasta Forever Life is short ... jump often.
  6. Don't forget the basics. Starting with an appropriate sized reserve for your exit weight. Then a container to fit your reserve, your appropriate sized main, and your body size.
  7. Thanks. Life is short ... jump often.
  8. Did you ever find out how this person was able to change the password ? Life is short ... jump often.
  9. I use Paypal for everything. If a website doesn't use it, I find one that does for the same product. Bought and sold also on DZ.com, a TON of stuff. Never ever EVER had a problem. Life is short ... jump often.
  10. I've done this before, but can't remember exactly. I think people were using shortening. Have you tried to find a tutorial on Youtube ? Life is short ... jump often.
  11. Would you consider jumping without the visor. My helmets are open face. My coldest exit at altitude was neg. 7 deg. F. No problem. It's only 45 - 60 sec freefall. Life is short ... jump often.
  12. I actually saw a well made one ( full vest ) at Walmart last week in the exercise department as I was passing by. I stopped to look at it thinking of it's use for jumping. I don't use weight personally. I could stand to lose a few pounds. Life is short ... jump often.
  13. .... Life is short ... jump often.
  14. Man you are lost ... stop giving advice. Life is short ... jump often.
  15. Apparently my reply never went through yesterday. I say usually because I can't guarantee that they counted. Also its a 182 so it doesn't compare to big DZ where the exit timing is way more important. aka We don't have big ways with horizontal drift. Jumpers aren't going to reach 45 degrees. I don't use it because it has been shown not to work. Now I'm not going to say that the method doesn't work at all. I will say that it does not work as it appears on the surface. We can all agree that more separation is better than less. The 45 method makes students get used to waiting. Since as we know the previous jumper is not going to reach 45 they should wait all day but they won't. It is also likely that they will rush their count if told to wait X amount of time. Once people get a little experience ( like 15 ish jumps) they become better at counting. When this happens they can be introduced to the counting system. Thats pretty much what happen to me. Along with all the other things that fall under the category of (not a student anymore so we do it differently). So do I think it works as a method to get proper exit separation? No. Do I think it's a way to manipulate student into waiting longer? Yes. So ..... you are in the 182 at the exit point flying at 80 knots for exit. The uppers are 80 knots in your face. You are unaware of the upper wind speed because you never asked. The jumper ahead of you exits and quickly clears the airspace under the plane. How long do you plan on counting ? 16. Hi Simon. Thanks for the reply. I was actually referring to OFF Drop Zone landings. So I should have said, if you could wait until you have 200 "landings" before venturing into off drop zone landings. Things to consider .... wind direction, wind speed, rolling terrain ( which you can not evaluate from the air, even at a low altitude ), obstacles, rotors, emergency help if you need it. These are just considerations. Have fun getting there. Be Safe.
  17. Jumping out of a Buddie's plane is very tempting, BUT dangerous at this point. If you could wait until you have a good 200 jumps, you would be better off ....
  18. Don't bash Lodi. At 14 jumps, you don't know any right from wrong. Life is short ... jump often.
  19. What knowledge ? Ask yourself .... how am I going to take my helmet off during an entanglement ? Using a proper "Helmet" cut away system, of course.
  20. Can you quote any of those brand names for the 12 mm pancakes ? I always shoot in manual. Life is short ... jump often.
  21. If you can see trees above the horizon, you are low .... Life is short ... jump often.
  22. In my opinion, if you want to get a good shot in the door, you need a 16 mm or wider. I asked and was told a 14 mm pancake was on it's way. Don't know if they are out yet or ever really will be. 14 mm would be nice. Life is short ... jump often.
  23. Natural Born Killers .... Juliette Lewis and Woody Harrelson. Life is short ... jump often.
