  1. I would venture to say that if the 1st breakage was due to wear, then the rigger should have replaced both steeringlines. Old school logic. take care, space
  2. Hi, TW, aka "space" here, Germany has the most advanced BASE Assn in Europe as far as dealing with it´s government. Approved gear is AFAIK limited to TSO-C23D, 300lbs at 200mph drops, CR and BR and others have met the certification required.Try [email protected] to find out which others.Tom gave you the most current links to pursue. They are bilingual and will help answer your questions. And we do have belly mount squares for reserves. Kick me an e if you need info.. take care, tracy [email]
  3. Try jerking the lines into trim. Firmly anchor the links and start with firm but not too fierce jerking the offending line and keep comparing it to its symmetrical mate until it matches. This works on Dacron and Spectra for certain. let us know how it works on the your lines. It was a standard procedure 5 yrs ago where I worked as a rigger, take care, space
  4. Yo, If it is such a cool placement of the bridle, a. then why doesn´t the Manu do it this way? b. If it is such a cool placement of the bridle, why doesn´t he work for the Manu? c. Why does he not follow the rules of his riggership? Just starting crap but if things are significantly safer doing it another way then what is the hold up? take care, space
  5. I think you may be right, He should be promoting me instead of himself, or maybe you... how selfish of him thinkin only of him and what he wants instead of us and what we wants. Logic prevails once again in this world of mayhem due to persons like ourselves hehehehahahehe!!!! take care, space
  6. " you can go in and talk to them anytime " This would be a play on words? Greetings to The Big Dude Kev!
  7. bottom line is this - you'll never know what I'm talking about till you've placed it all on the line for a belief. FFF For a belief, do you mean some other´s belief? Or yours? What is your belief? Do you have your own? Do you deny that you have accepted others views as your own? Fight for what YOU believe in is cool. fighting for what others say you should believe in seems like a scam to me..just my 0.02 take care space
  8. March 20th is Steak and BJ day, a day for the woman to show how much she appreciates having a friend who cares enough to buy double priced roses. But no cards, chocs or expensive gifts to frett over, just a simple steak and a BJ. hehehehe, take care, space

  10. Here is a secondhand story associated with the topic: A super tracking student of mine told me about an incident at Lauterbrunnen where the instructor was adamant that his student does jump (handheld). Meaning in his opinion that he pushed her to jump, and handheld was the way. She was by my students account, terrified. But her instructor insisted that she would jump. She apparently had all the signs of a “No Go” to my student. He feels that the instructor was pushing her to jump. Later. Someone was looking for motorcycle BASE jumper tipps, like how to do it. This was from an exp. jumper. Since I had worked with this with a motocross champ, I offered my assistance. It was denied. Then I heard the story…..She (Lauterbrunnen Lady) was a television star (with BASEr boyfriend) in her country, for a show of risk taking I believe. She crashed the motorcycle in a wide open area practicing to ride. She had not the ability (according to another BASE friend) to even ride a motorcycle for the stunt. Heli to the top, thankfully her and the boyfriend did not even consider jumping in the nice conditions. Her BF was not the one who was instructing her at LB. I absolutely disagree with this type of instructor behavior. The people involved can flame me publically if they wish and I turn this into first hand accounts publically. Otherwise do it privately. You made a decision, and my thinking makes it wrong, and I am not so far off base I think.Feel welcome to criticize me. Take care, space

    BASE tracking

“some questions, how does it differ from a 'maximum lift' skydiving track? For big wall BASEing” There is no 'maximum lift' track. There is only a “better optimized” track. The way it differs is the development. That you have solid positional references to differentiate your improvements or lack thereof, as in the exit point, wall, talus, and ledges as opposed to an aircraft jump, where the exit point is moving and ground zero is normally the ref when jumping solo. One can´t control what one can´t measure. With aircraft jumps the factors are largely hypothetical when jumping solo, as in: I felt I tracked with maximum lift. Actual distance away from the fixed exit point is much more perceivable from the object than from the aircraft. With Bigwall stuff one can see a definite correlation between style of track and distance achieved and thereby improve upon it and see in realtime the effects of a new style. ”Ive seen some posts about pointing toes out more than straight, and have asked questions and advice from the BASE locals I've met at Eloy, but would like more pointers and wisdom from as wide an audience as possible.” Ask the Eloy jumpers to evaluate your track. Pay for it. This is the only way one can improve their tracking in skydiving. Side by side.By working with an optimal tracker and honing in on outtracking the evaluator. In short, Try a slight de-arch, shoulders cupped, toes rotated to the outside (penguintrack), and hands pushing down to keep the head on the same level as the feet. Any headdown sucks. ”also, is there any reason why BASE tracking techniques would not be useful in skydiving tracking dives (where the intent is maximum horizontal distance)?” It would be a useful tool if you happened to need it. But normally tracking dives are to fly together, not leaving the others to eat your dust. Also, on RW jumps, if one did a more efficient track than the others, one would have a much higher risk of somebody dumping in their face. I have found that it is safer to track on the same slope as the others in skydiving at break off than to do a more efficient track than the others. This all brings us to: Are you dressed for success? Short pants and a floppy sweatshirt? Baggy trousers and a T-shirt. Short pants and a T-shirt, Floppy sweat and baggy pants? One needs to figure out what is the best. For me, a little arm flappage, and a little more for the leg. I hope this helps. As a plug for me, I tracked 220m in 9sec at #7 with a running exit and my rocket pants at Kjerag, Norway. 12. You can´t stop them, one can only help them get the skills they need to perform the jump with maximum safety. take care, space
  13. Easy guide to removing embroidery if you are reasonably careful. Use a small diameter hand sewing needle (1mm or less) slide it under the stitches but over the material, use a razor blade and shave the threads over the needle using the needle as a guard for the material, repeat as needed, take your time... take care, space

  15. Hi Bill, I am a DZO in Norway at the established BASE DZ at Kjerag for some weeks in the summer. Block constructed PC´s have been a problem there due to unknowing constructors, also in Italy I have seen this problem, Most of the time when I see this problem, It has been a wall strike or consecutive off heading openings that clues me in on the PC. But the question I wish to ask you is about orbiting PC´s whether due to construction or attachment to the bridle (most BASE PC´s are bridleless manufactured and attached by the jumper). How important do you think that a stable PC (non orbiting PC) is for the opening sequence? It has been difficult for me to disseminate info relating to PC construction and performance in the BASE scene even though I have ground crewed for over 7000 jumps. I hope that an authority on PC´s such as you can respond as maybe they will listen to you. Thank you so much in advance. I look forward to your reply. Tracy walker, BASE Instructor examiner. base283
