  2. You should drink a whiskey babe. How thre fuck can you condone the 600 deaths of people killing 6000.. I am waiting for an answer respect he deserves, dignity not IMHO. I have only tried to say that the family members of people murdered in Iraq/ afgan have maybe differing feelings.WTF, murder is murder. Let us fight about this on the corner when you wish. The guy was not a loser in my book, just missguided. The stasi and nazi´s wore uniforms also. does this make it ok to destroy families? you are twisted maybe. take care, space
  3. Am I so twisted? check it out yourself. I in no way dissed him. I actually agree that he is a hero for doing for what he believed. So WTF are we in Afgan for sir? I challenge you to give me an answer. Do you really think that the adminstration was flying out Bin Laden´s family after 9/11 to be nice. maybe you are twisted. take care and let us bring this to the corner. space
  4. We don´t need the moderators to do this. we can do it ourselves. Try it. take care, space

I agree with you that a huge arch exit is not the way to go, Throwing ones hands/arms back during the exit induces a headdown vector. Try it now, put your hands spread out 30cm in front of your face and pull them back, Notice how you head goes fwd? Add this to the weightlessness of the exit and you gotta prob if you don´t compensate otherwise. The major prob with an extended body position on exit is that one can not slow down the induced rotational energy acrobatically, http://www.blincmagazine.com/forum/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=12&topic_id=2289&mesg_id=2289&listing_type=searchwanting The task now is to get this info to the skydivers. That is not arguing, ya gotta challenge my post Kev. I know my feet smell and my nose runs, does this mean I am hooked up backwards? Visit me. Take care, space
  7. sorry, I don´t understand what you imply. please explain. The real tragedy is as always death. I think he was a hero no matter how misguided his motive was. Going to the max for what one believes is the Hero characteristic. Although, murdering people for profit(oil etc) is just a notch above murdering people for pleasure in my book, it suks all the same. GW´s string pullers are the ones who killed him. Not the people trying to protect their homeland and family. take care, space

Argue with me for Krists sakes. I dissed your post, lives are depending on our observations.... take care space
  9. In respect of his passing, I totally agree with you. But in the Euro view he was only a bush henchmen to clear the way for an oil pipeline. same like Iraq. take care, space

One should definitely highly respect the unstable exit. There may be a misconception here, Head down is not necessarily unstable. An unstable exit is exactly that, unstable on all axis´, This doesn´t mean head down or even a half front loop on to the back(one axis). These are normally recoverable. Once left/right orientation control is lost (added to fwd rotation control loss) , it´s game over for aerodynamic recovery phase, just arch as hard as you can until the allotted deployment time and deploy using the parachute for stabilization (no matter one´s body position) Unstable exits are virtually impossible to correct aerodynamically at this alt in time to deploy safely. And also if one has the ability to recover from an unstable exit acrobatically, one wouldn´t be in that position in the firstplace probaly. The 2 unstable exits in Norway that I witnessed, that resulted in fatalties had what was termed a hyper-rotational exit. Much rotational energy was induced into the exit via diving headown and thrusting up the buttocks and legs simultaneously. The unfortunate lady with 2000+ skydives, did recover around one second before impact. The other unfortunate jumper with 200 skydives did not recover any stability before impact. Do not underestimate the the jump. The first big year (1997) for this site was hard for everybody. Skydivers didn´t understand why they should not jump their stilettoes, sabres etc. as they thought it was a 1000m jump with a grassy LZ. The truth is: For #7, 570m vert, (870m asl) with grass growing amongst boulders. If you have a good track, you could have the extra margin of 300m. I hope this helps, Take care, space
  12. Breakage of what? The staticline? It´s not so clear what you mean. take care, space
  13. It´s not BASE, but these guys got bigguns. It could be relative. Tom, move it if you need to. take care, space http://www.sublimedirectory.com/stimes/03-29-2004/
  14. Plastic garbage bags cut in to strips and rolled, play with the width until you have enough force. Arne from Iceland recommended monofilament fishing line as it is rated for strength or breaking point. The cool thing about polymers is they stretch to the breaking point without much recoil. I hope this helps. take care, space
  15. On the contrary 428, I have assisted 3 different country´s jumpers to establish the legality of BASE in Germany, Italy, Norway. you have your bridge and it seems you are doing a great job, Keep up the good work :-) Our ancestors left Europe because of discrimination and did well for themselves in America. so to be condescending to me for that would be to be condescending to your ancestors. Last word. take care, space
  16. Who was complaining? wasn´t me? You (428) just seem like you want to call the people paranoid, I just wanted you to have food for thought, to put in perspective. So which complaint are you referring to? It musta been somebody else. I do not complain in these forums. take care, space
  17. I think that you could possibly do something if there were no government supervised sites like NPS lands allowed. but I am not sure how you could do that, the gov is quite busy whittling down your rights. take care, space
  18. Yo 428, why don´t you direct your paranoia post to those (6?) who did the big 90 days in federal max security prison with murders, rapists, bank robbers for jumping. it would be more objective don´t ya think? what about;the NPS geek that spent his off time hangin in the meadow just to bust jumpers, or what about the NPS saying at a court hearing that they will spend millions of dollars just to bust us? What about the stripped searched jumpers...? Since you do have some cahoots with these guys, why not ask them and yourself these questions? Do we as jumpers have a logical right to feel paranoid? food for thought. take care and keep up the good work. space edited by request of original poster ~TA
  19. Weight of the canopy and deployment speed versus drag of the PC are the factors along with your geared up weight are the that will determine the outcome. However, A slow deceleration from an undersized PC can cause very hard openings because the time from bag opening to canopy stretch can take too long and the canopy can start to inflate before the tension is applied directly throughout the system due to insufficient separation speed giving you an out of sequence deployment resulting in an already somewhat open canopy hitting terminal(?) velocity airspeeds. have fun, take care, space

I choose to not underestimate "the man," or the stupidity of people like: #10 Jeb Williams, 1986 I totally disagree. Jeb died on his 5th or 6th BASE jump. Most likely, 99% of all jumps were done on skydiving gear during this time. There were only 2 base rigs on the market at that time (JD walker and TNT) and ideas like bigger PCs were just rearing their head. Jeb died proving that a normal skydiving PC doesn´t work well from 500ft. As far as I know, He was the first to die from using too small of a PC. Giving you, me and the rest of the world the The knowledge that you apparently take for granted about the use of larger PC in subterminal. There was ignorance on that jump surely, but no stupidity. Jeb is an Icon as his pioneering death set the stage for the PC age in BASE. take care, space
  21. An often overlooked factor is the PC. Symmetry and drag factor into this. Your PC needs to be somewhat stable (Not orbiting) . The keel line to bridle lengths need to stay compatible throughout the shrinkage phases that occur as result of friction/heat. otherwise the apex can be pulled down lower than the "1" above the skirt position and create less drag than needed to achieve a separation speed of 30 - 50 fps (The value is from "I read it some where"). Check out posts from Bill Booth on the subject of PCs. The PC is basically the initiator of deployment and any problems there are compounded throughout the rest of the sequence. I hope this helps, take care, space
  22. Secure from whom? If you want it secure from The Man, you have no chance. If you just want to secure it from wannabes that you don´t know, you have a chance. IMHO it´s best to just have a network of active jumpers to field the questions from the area indicated. Any sites that are posted can easily be scooped by the man if this is your concern. I hope this helps. take care, space

  24. Skydiving canopies (faster for softer landings) are designed for different objectives than are BASE canopies (slower to have more time to react for off heading near objects). The airfoil is the pertinent determiner. Not the number of cells. Try this example: Would flying a Parafoil give one the experience one needs to fly a Triathalon or vice versa... apples and oranges. hope this helps take care, space
