  1. Have you seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rheJL5_q_4E
  2. Thanks DSE. I'm no coach but there's some great information in there for me to digest. Cheers, llloyd.
  3. Fair enough, I will be going in search of good coaching when my new suit turns up
  4. Nice link DSE. I'm currently in an S-Fly Expert but waiting on a shiny new Tonysuit to arrive so that link should help a lot when it lands (we've no tri-wing flying coaches close to us). Just out of interest, are the other 'levels' available publicly or are they private for your schools use only? Thanks, llloyd.
  5. Whilst you present a tough act to follow I submit for critique... https://vimeo.com/43926524
  6. A Spectre will out-glide and turn in a tighter radius than a similarly loaded Sabre2 according to: http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/Spectre-Flight-Char.PDF
  7. Recently saw a newly qualified jumper take a bit of a rough landing, get dragged a little and have the harness MLW pull across his chest and rip his nipple bar right out. He was wearing a t-shirt and jumpsuit. To the OP, I'd wear the plaster (uk speak for band aid) if you're worried.
  8. "Truly amazing, nothing but total respect. Congratulations. Every time I think something is totally impossible I am proven wrong. Thank you bro for showing us :) Jeb" Apparently not! (taken from the WS forum).
  9. I’ve yet to get down to Tilly, one day... We’ve a growing flock at BK though if you’re ever passing, inc. a G3, P3, P2 and a few S-Fly’ers usually floating about.
  10. Where is your 'local' MrC?? Have I read you live on the IoM???
  11. Not any more. With the current £-€ exchange rates, jump tickets in Empuria are dearer than the four UK DZ's I jump at... ...better weather though, I'll give you that
  12. Would this be just for WS'ers? I've never ballooned so would want to jump without my suit first.
  13. No, in the video you referred to, it's two b.a.s.e. jumpers that chop at 100' and "one even has time to flare". Their reserves were packed slider down for the test.
  14. I found a video once where they had their main open and cut away at 100' and still had time to flare... But yea it assumes that you had your main deployed somewhat.... A UPT test video using b.a.s.e. jumpers with 'reserves' packed slider down. Be careful what you're offering as 'advice'...somebody somewhere might listen
  15. Yes, the 'arch' we're talking about is the stable box-man skydiving position. When exactly to bang this arch on depends on what your instructor wants you to do. I was taught two-handed drills (as in, two hands per handle) which is why my arch would occur a split second after I'd pulled the silver one. This doesn't mean my way is right or wrong, just different. Listen to YOUR instructors, then ask questions of anything you're unsure about. They like that
  16. That puts you already back in freefall BEFORE you've arched, therefore introducing the possibility of an unstable position during reserve deployment, and it's too late to fix it. You could be back-to-earth with the reserve pilot chute snaking up between your balls. If you arch BEFORE you cut-away, then you'll already be in the proper belly-to-earth freefall position to maximize a safe reserve deployment. I do agree with you...now I have a little experience
  17. Wrong sequence: Arch first, before cutting-away and pulling the reserve. At 10 jumps, doesn't that depend on what his instructor taught? Look. Locate. Peel. Pull. Punch. Arch. That's how my EP's were drilled into me
  18. This exercise is to get you to become more aware of your surroundings and to judge the distance of when to begin your flare, (top of the picnic table)..... ...and all this bullshit is EXACTLY why you can rock up to your FJC (first jump course) with dangerous information learned from the interwebz. Follow this advice and not only will you look stupid at the picnic area, you'll risk breaking yourself on landing. It is wrong. Your instructor will describe when to flare for your landing. Smile. Relax. Listen to your instructor.
  19. I hope THEY got grounded. @33s they both blindly pass an open parachute and @42s she's still chasing him when he eventually realises he's nearly dead. That puts her (at best) around the 2k mark and still terminal... Scary video...although I think the "Fuck Vigil" is a vain attempt at humour, not a blame shift.
  20. I've got a funny feeling you're going to enjoy this weekend Ross, now our pilot's back in his favourite Porter See you Saturday
  21. I did the Brian Vacher safe flight school course last year. Jump 10 included "landing on rear risers". His courses are aimed at anyone from 20 jumps up.
  22. Hi, and welcome to the sport. I really don't think you would go wrong with either Black Knights or Cark. Both will be welcoming and get you on your way with your RAPS or AFF. Based on my own experiences, I would say BKPC is the more professional DZ, whilst Cark seem to take a more relaxed approach to things. Saying that, Black Knights is my home DZ so I will obviously favour it. We have free camping, basic bunkhouses, free showers, toilet block, cafe etc. The farm we're on has a barn converted into rooms if you don't want to rough it. Most importantly we have a friendly bunch of regulars...just come down and say hi. There is one lad who comes here from 'the rock' so I guess it might be easier to get to than Cark too?? If you have any questions, please feel free to ask or PM me. I look forward to our first beer :)
  23. "wingsuit rodeo" "hybrid skydive" "raft jump" "freefly tube" ...all should get you a few good results
