  1. Never trust that green light thingy :) I was on a 8 way one of the rear divers, green light came on, ppl climbed out, ready, set, go....... as we left the otter I saw the dz way off the distance. The pilot had turn the green light on by mistake, 3 retired aff guys outside never looked down, lol we all pulled high and landed on the dz. NOTE to fellow skydivers, please us abort abort, not NO NO NO. Sounds to much like go go go lol. we've all be there, all done it....
  2. do not buy a cypres at the cost of staying current. save your pennies and get one that only has a few years left. If it has a removable cutter so much the better. I did my first 100 jumps after getting my "a' w/o one, when I sent mine in for a 4 year I jump my rig until the next repack cycle w/o one. You should not have to have one. However it's nice to have one. Of course never, ever depend on one.
  3. turning down wind on my level 7 in 15 mph wind. I sware he said turn right, lol, run tuck and roll, crash and burn. all on video, still hurts to watch it :) or my aff level 1, after opening i saw all the canopies, I thought, it's real busy there (over the landing area) I'll wait till air trafic clears, My 1st demo jump off the 17th green. Gawd I love this sport
  4. yep sure does seem that way
  5. what channel and when is everyone on?
  6. reply to drenaline I've never seen a reserve hung out to dry or to air out. except after a friends unplanned water jump at the beach. I have heard one rigger tell someone they needed a day cause it had to "air out" I'll check and get back to you.
  7. I think crw of some form would be great for all skydivers. learn what you fly and why it does what it does
  8. keep at it, skydiving only gets better Bill
  9. cool pics, thanks guys and gals
  10. ok give you a example. A good friend is a retired static line/aff jump master. Under the uspa rules he needs to have a coaches rating to jump with "off student status" skydivers. When I was starting out he jumped with me and never charged me. He's been in the sport longer than most DZO's. 2ed example. skydiver 2 has been doing demo's 15-20 years. never got his "d" now is unable to get a demo rating because he suffers from night blindness. This man has 5000 jumps. I do realize that he "might" be able to get a waiver. Just dosn't seem like USPA has look at what or who they might affect. Bsr are not law, they are suggestions. I have no trouble with safety. What I don't want is a system like the UK has, holding your hand. We can and should look after each other, not big brother or the uspa. As far as rigs go, I have a hard shell to put my rig in, I do a check everytime before I don my rig, before I get on the plane, and before leaving the plane. PD think's a year is good. And if the law is changed you can get it repack every weekend if you want. The repacking wears your canopy out. So by excessive repacks they are putting us in more danger. Student and rental gear should be left at 120 days because of the nature of use. I have seen skydivers store gear in trunks of cars, sheds, ect. I think maybe a little education would go a long way or maybe they don't care. I would be happy at 180 days but a annual repack cycle would be even better. After your rig leaves the loft, YOU need to make sure it's serviceable and safe. If not sure PLEASE ask someone who knows STA, Rigger lets play safe and have fun Bill

  12. beach jump are fun, like demo's and night jumps there can be increased risk. Here in florida we have miles and miles of beach, just all on a heading of 00-180 I've only seen one water landing. That was because he was showing off and the wave god reached up and smote him :)
  13. we had a guy show up at our dz had about 30 jumps. Bought a rig from someone at his home dz. In talking to him about the price it seemed a bit high, he said but it has a new Pd reserve. Seem strange to us that someone would but a new canopy in such a old container. To make a long story short we asked to open it up and look inside. The canopy ripped apart as we opened it. we all just look at each other in shock. He got his money back, however makes you think dosn't it.
  14. well guys I hate to tell ya but i live within walking distance of my dz. it's caused a few sick days :) jump or work, jump or work, hell I can work when i'm old :) maybe you guys need to move closer to the dz. Sorry you can't jump, if your ever in florida look me up blues
  15. I've decided to run for National Director. I feel the USPA has lost site of who it is here for. Later I will post my full platform but the basics are as follows: 1) make changing the repack cycle to 180 to 365 days at the top of the to do list 2) close down the GM's program. the uspa is about skydivers, let dzo's go to the PIA so we don't have to pay for it with our membership dues 3) the smaller the number of rules the better. No more stupid rules I am open to discussion on other changes or direction the uspa needs to go Bill Flynn
  16. Adrian and his staff are real nice folks. Anything you can do to help get the word out would be nice. One of the staff stayed with me when they were filming and I was supprised as some of the stuff they did. They are the kind that makes this sport great!!!!!!!
