  3. What skydiver wouldn't love those vocals??? Frank Zappa- Titties and Beer It was the blackest night--There was no moon in sight---You know the stars ain't shinin'---'Cause the sky's too tight---I heard the scarey wind---I seen some ugly trees---There was a werewolf honkin'---'Long the side of me I'm mean 'n I'm bad, y'know I ain't no sissy Got a big-titty girly by the name of Chrissy Talkin' about her 'n my bike 'n me... 'N this ride up the Mountain of Mystery, Mystery I noticed even the crickets---Was actin' weird up here ---And So I figured I might---Just drink a little beer I said, "Gimme summa that what yer suckin' on..." But there was no reply---'Cause she was gone... "Where's those titties that I like so well 'n my goddamn beer!" Is what I started to yell, then I heard this noise Like a crunchin' twig, 'n up jumped the Devil...he's about this big... He had a red suit on---An' a widow's peak--- An' then a pointed tail---'N like a sulphur reek--- Yes, it was him awright---I sweared I knowed it was--- He had some human flesh---Stuck underneath his claws---You know it looked to me---Like it was titty skin---I said, "You sonofabitch!"---'Cause I was mad at him,---Well he just got out his floss---'N started cleanin' his fang---So I shot him with my shooter---Said: BANG BANG BANG Then the sucker just laughed 'n said, "Put it away... You know, I ate her all up...now what you gonna say?" YOU ATE MY CHRISSY? "Titties 'n all!" WELL, WHAT ABOUT THE BEER THEN, BOY? "Were the cans this tall?" EVEN HER BOOTS? "Would I lie to you?" SHIT, YOU MUSTA BEEN HUNGRY! "Yes, this is true." WELL DON'T THEY PAY YOU GOOD FOR THE STUFF THAT YOU DO? "Well, you know, I can't complain when the checks come through..." WELL I WANT MY CHRISSY, 'N I WANT MY BEER SO YOU JUST BARF IT BACK UP NOW, DEVIL, DO YOU HEAR? "Blow it out your ass, motorcycle man! I mean, I am the Devil, Do you understand? Just what will you give me for your Titties and beer? I suppose you noticed this little contract here... " YER GODDAM RIGHT, YOU SON-OF-A-WHORE, "Don't call me that" THAT'S ABOUT THE ONLY REASON ...GIMME THAT PAPER...BET YER ASS I'll SIGN... 'CAUSE I NEED A BEER, 'N IT'S TITTY-SQUEEZIN' TIME "Man, You can't fool me...you ain't that bad... I mean you shoulda seen some of the souls I had... Why there was Milhous Nixon 'n Agnew, too... 'n both of those suckers was worse 'n you..." WELL, LET'S MAKE A DEAL IF YOU THINK THAT'S TRUE I MEAN, YOU'RE THE DEVIL, SO WHATCHA GONNA DO? (improvised dialog) "Wait a minute...a tinge of doubt crosses my mind...when you say... that you want to make a deal with me..." "That's very, very true---I'm only interested in two things "Yeah?---"See if you can guess what they are" "I would think...uh...let's see, maybe Stravinsky..." "I'll give you two clues. Let go of your pickle" "What?" "Let go of your pickle!" "I'm not holding my pickle" "Well, who's holding your pickle then?" "I don't know...she's out in the audience... Hey Dale, would you like to come up here and hold my pickle to satisfy this weird man out on the stage?" "I'm only interested in two things, and that's titties and beer---you know what I mean? "What?" titties and beer titties and beer!" titties and beer!" "I don't know if you're the right guy?" titties and beer!" titties and beer!" "No! Don't sign it! Give me time to think... I mean hold on a second boy, 'cause that's magic ink!" And then the devil let go of his pickle and out come my girl, there was her titties flop-floppin'...all around the world She said "I got me three beers and a fistful of downs and I'm gonna get ripped, so fuck, you clowns!" Then she gave us the finger, it was rigid and stiff That's when the devil, he farted and she went right over the cliff! The devil was mad, I took off to my pad I swear I do declare, how did she get back there? I swear I do declare, how did she get back there? 7. I was told the other day while speaking with a person who considers themselves a "true christian" that 80% of canadians believe that there is a god. At the time I wished I replied to that comment, but let it slide as this person actually believed it! re: No one has yet devised a way to reliably poll belief in God. Most Canadians categorize themselves as Christian when asked to tick a box on a census form. Most of Canadians identify with the faith in which they were raised even if they don't actively practice that faith or even believe in its basic tenets. Gallop Canadian Poll If poll inquires about religious behavior and about the particulars of their beliefs: 61% say they believe in God 28% say religion is important to their lives 16% say they attend religious services once a week 30% believe one must believe in God in order to be moral 69% say they believe in heaven 43% say they believe in hell Canadian social and religious values are much closer to those held by Europeans than by Americans. Nearly three in five Americans (58%) say a person has to believe in God to be moral. Only 30% of Canadians and 23% of Western Europeans agree. Publics of Canada (69%) and Western Europe (77%) also are more accepting of homosexuality than Americans are (55%). 88% of Canadians think that mapping the human genetic code will increase their quality of life and health. OF FIVE Western countries polled by the Pew Research Centre, Muslims in Britain were the most likely to identify themselves by religion rather than nationality. A massive 81% considered themselves Muslim first. SMiles
  8. my older brother has been facing death for years now- I have gone thru the grieving process for him so many times in the past and he has always pulled thru- what a trooper!- my big brother is my idol. he was diagnosed with crohn's disease and had so many bowel surgeries removing diseased gut. Eventually he had stoma sugery and chance of resection after 2 yrs. The next surgery left him without a rectum and 6 in. of intestine from his stomach to the stoma. He has ived at home with total peritenial feeding (TPN) for the last 15 yrs. He fed thru the vein nightly and was able to go to work daily. then he was diagnosed with Hemochromatosis- a disorder of iron regulation – it is an inherited disease where excess "free" iron is deposited in various organs including the liver. Hemochromatosis is manageable when detected early but usually by the time symptoms become evident, severe organ damage has already occurred. His diagnoses was late, symptom was he appeared to have a great sun tan in the winter. Venesections (removal of blood, similar to a blood donation) was started weekly. then he had the small section of intestine from stomach to stoma blow up and was rushed to intesive care for 3 months in septic shock. Doctors told us his chance of survival was on a daily basis. He was in coma on full life support and survived after 3 months of anti-biotic treatments....then his organs -kidney, lungs, pancreas- were all damanged. he made it back home- never to get back to work again. One day with a sinus head cold, his sinus above right eye abcessed and was rushed to emergency- surgery was necessary-septic shock again- his right eye was removed (enucleation) and cheek bone scraped down, loss of feeling right side of face. now he has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia - has just had fistula surgery to join an artery to a vein under the skin to make a larger vessel (prep for kidney dialysis- 3 x weekly) this procedure takes 3 months to mature but his blood work last week is bad news- he needs dialysis immediately.... he is not afraid of death- his fight to survive deserves utmost respect- but to watch him laying in his hospital bed with so little energy left -and every ounce of his energy channelled to anger due to loss of his dignity.... is heartbreaking SMiles

  13. hey, which building did you work in last summer? My son is an electrician for Mott Electric and worked on the "one wall centre": http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=1wallcentre-vancouver-canada I remember when the city told them to take out the top 10 or so floors of glass and change them to lighter- they didn't approve of the black glass up high...../good timing! Everyone then started saying it looks like a huge lipstick tube... Anyway when the crane was still on top and all floors up under construction, a very skilled fellow jumped the crane, landed safe on the street in rush hour (with some help from traffic control below.) It was Vancouver's tallest at 48 floors -and finished in 2001- next? 17. Do you feel the same about disabled/handicapped children? Right not to be born? What constitutes a "right" is a complex question. On one interpretation, rights protect interests. Is it better to be dead than have Down’s syndrome? Some people do believe that Down’s syndrome constitutes a life not worth living. Children with Down’s syndrome can and often do lead happy and worthwhile lives. Regardless, parents have the right to terminate the pregnancy. Are babies at the mercy of ultrasound scans and what they may disclose? Terminations are being carried out for minor, treatable birth defects like deafness, blindness, dwarfism, cleft palates and defective limbs. In some cases, the aborted children aren't disabled at all but are mere carriers of a disease or stand a chance of getting one later in life. Late terminations have been performed in recent years (UK) because the babies had club feet. Is abortion increasingly being used to satisfy couples' desire for the 'perfect' baby? Are we turning into a society that can no longer tolerate imperfection? Doctors were recently told they can now screen IVF embryos to try to weed out inherited cancers…. The right to abort a disabled child, in other words, is approaching the status of a duty to abort a disabled child. Parents who abort their disabled children won't be asked to justify their decision. Rather, it is the parents with disabled children who must justify themselves to a society that tacitly asks: Why did you bring into the world a child you knew was disabled or might become disabled? The brain and spinal cord of a fetus develop during the first 28 days of pregnancy. During my second pregnancy I went for usual ultrasounds for head size. At 28 weeks I was told there was concern- so I was sent for more tests. Due to improved ultrasounds and tests Spina bifida & hydrocephalus was diagnosed for my son, Leland. By this time, permanent damage was already done and all doctors informed me that my child would not survive birth. I was offered the choice of termination of my pregnancy. At this time overwhelmed with emotions I made the decision to follow through with termination and was admitted to hospital. The morning of the procedure the head of the hospital came to inform me that the hospital would not perform the procedure considered "abortion" (the chance of being sued after the procedure was in question.) I was discharged and I carried my child to full term, even though a few weeks later it was confirmed they would terminate my pregnancy at another children's hospital in the city. Adequate folate levels are critical during the early days of the developing embryo, particularly the 3rd and 4th week. It is in this period that neural tube defects occur. Because most women do not realize that they are pregnant this early in the pregnancy and because most pregnancies are unplanned, it is important that all women of childbearing age ensure that they are consuming sufficient folate or folic acid. It was difficult carrying my son alive and kicking strong- with no chance of his survival at birth. Leland died at birth weighing 8 lbs. I cuddled my beautiful son, perfect in all outer appearance. I do believe holding him was so very important for my grieving process and feel if I had terminated the pregnancy early on- my grieving process would not have been natural, unless his death was natural. I was informed after genetic testing to have another child and did get pregnant soon after a long grieving process. Giving birth to my third son who was scanned so often with all positive results, I couldn't count the times I was informed of him being "perfectly healthy." SMiles
  18. memories for a 16 yr. old raised to adult court and sentenced to 2 weeks in prison for "failing to appear"- what a wake up call! -shoved in a room with bath tub and nothing but mirrors on the walls- told to take off your clothes and get in tub for bath while female guards stand watching......having your hair doused with solution for lice, having to bend over naked while checked for drugs up the arse.......thrown in 24 hr. lock up with junkies and then transferred into a cell with inmate that had drowned her baby in a bathtub- (2 yr. less a day charge) -as insulin dependent diabetic getting taken daily to nurse office for injections with guard to make sure used syringe was disposed of- and the rest of the day hassled for syringes from junkies- I did shed some tears and started writing my life story on ass wipe- recall lining up in hallway to get coffee cup before going to eat the horrible food--going back to court to be charged with fraud under $500. with 3 months definate/ 9 indefinate in a rehabilitation center for "young ladies"- Here work was mucking chicken barn every a.m.- (will never forget the smell when those barn doors opened) feeding the chickens and collecting eggs- washing shit off them- then shoveling shit into wheel barrows that were pushed onto field outside to be shoveled on to property ........mmmm- "rehabilitation" As minimal security a friend did get to visit and slid me a pack of cigs across the table when guard not watching. It was so exciting not to get searched after visit and return to my room to open up package and find gold seal carved out of brick of hash perfect to fit in pkg.!! I ate grams of hash daily before chicken barn mucking- "entertainment." Duties for rest of day: scrub walls and floors etc. Made leather wallets & purses, sewed xmas stockings, made license plates. Took 3 months for my lawyer to appeal charge and one day was told I could go- my charge had been dropped- no parole-no probation. (my mother charged me for writing $45.00 check on her account) Bummer I didn't understand "charge being dropped" and learned big lesson traveling to Bush's country. I had crossed the border and was pulled over for drivers licence check- woops, arrested, taken to jail by police that were way more aggressive than what I'd experienced........ told they could keep me 2 yrs. in jail as had been charged in Canada-not allowed to cross border..........WTF.........they did release me and eventually did get a pardon in Canada but that doesn't mean I can enter the states. 21. Our logo was controversial also (Vancouver B.C. Winter Olympics 2010) Reviewing 1,600 entries from across Canada, the international panel of nine judges chose the design by Vancouverite MacGregor -- who was rewarded with $25,000, two tickets to the opening ceremonies of the Games and the first two pins based on the design. I didn't like it at first but atleast there is discription of what it represents........and it reaches young children with arms wide open for a hug..... The Inukshuk is a beacon, a welcome sight. It says, 'I've been here before; you're on the right path.' The Inukshuk (pronounced IN-OOK-SHOOK) meaning "in the image of man", are magnificent lifelike figures of stone which were erected by the Inuit people and are unique to the Canadian Arctic. Standing along Canada's most northern shores, they endure as eternal symbols of leadership, encouraging the importance of friendship and reminding us of our dependence upon one another. To build an Inukshuk you must find the perfect balance for each rock. No one rock is more important than another, and each creation is unique. These massive rock figures are 7-12 feet high so they could be seen from great distances. Many Inuit who may have lost their way were thankful to see these manlike figures, with arms stretched wide as if to welcome them home. SMiles
  22. In Vancouver B.C. Canada smoking is banned inside- prohibitions in bars and restaurants were based on health risks to workers and patrons. I am a smoker but do not understand how other smokers figure the earth is an ashtray to litter with butts. I would like to see a ban on smoking at all public beaches, parks, playgrounds. Our beaches are so beautiful here but the sand is littered with butts.....discusting. Collect butts from public spaces and send them to city hall, just as Californians did to lobby their city governments? Maybe ban the current standard of cigarettes and only sell tobacco, no more filters and crap that litters and harbors a shtiload of chemicals. If smokers want to keep smoking, why not roll there own? I think rolling helps me to cut down the addiction. attached: 20453_b- beach in Portugal http://www.canada.com/theprovince/news/unwind/story.html?id=b52dfac5-52eb-44f5-9c23-a037c4568cc7 SMiles
  23. I adore the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever- small version of a Golden Retriever or Lab. The breed were crossed with retrievers and working spaniels, used to be called the Little River Duck Dog. The Toller's job is to lure ducks and geese within shotgun range, and to retrieve. Tollers have a "spark", temperament is: gentleness (with children especially), highly intelligent, alert, outgoing, and ready for action, though not to the point of nervousness or hyperactivity, affectionate and loving with family members and very patient. They bark when there is danger but that is likely to be all. These high energy dogs need a lot of physical exercise, a well-muscled dog that is medium to heavy boned. The Toller's strong retrieving desire and playfulness are natural traits, both necessary for his tolling ability. They have an intense natural excitement about their duty. The water-repellent, double coat of the Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever should be combed and brushed with a firm bristle brush, paying particular attention to the dense undercoat. Dry shampoo regularly, but bathe only when necessary for it removes the natural oils in the skin which make it naturally water resistant. This breed is an average shedder. http://www.akc.org/breeds/nova_scotia_duck_tolling_retriever/index.cfm SMiles
