  1. Sorry I didn't get back sooner, lots of threads here. Anyway I share the opinion that the Triathlon takes a bit more concentration when trying to find the right flair point. The Spectre on the other hand is a real dream. My typical landing is from a glide, simply slow it down a little with about half brakes, then a full flare a few feet from the ground. Great landings! 2. As mentioned its probably the adrenalin or the motion. Being a relatively high time pilot, I always considered myself to be rather immune from motion sickness, however my stomach gets a little queasy after doing something exciting while jumping, especially after eating. But it only lasts for a minute or so. I wonder how many tandem students lost their lunch during the ride. I bet its rather unpleasant for the tandem master, especially while holding into the wind. 5. Greetings and welcome. Regarding your comment about the thrill wearing off, it doesn't, it only gets better. Blue Skies You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime

  7. The last 2 canopies I purchased from PD came with a bag of small bands, so I figure thats what they recommend. I also use the single wrap method an its pretty secure, but I use the mediums on the locking stows since those first 2 can be a bitch sometimes. 8. If you send me a private Email I have one I will send to you or I could upload it to a web address since its a big file. I took it in 1983 but nothing has changed. Even though I was one of 3 people who did initial pro pack testing in 1977 and it took a few years to catch on, I do flat pack if there is room enough to do so. I hate to hog the space if the packing area is full as I have a bad shoulder and the extra arm movement required during the pro pack hurts me. 9. Yeah, that can happen. I fall like a safe myself, but I got a canopy that forgives my errors since it has a built in snivel which means it opens slower and won't bite you when things like that happen. On a few jumps over the years I found I didn't have the altitude to slow down like I should have. The opening shock was just the beginning, the next couple of days every muscle in my body was crying out. 10. Hi Don, Many of us are feeling the pinch of the recession. I'm a writer myself but am not qualified to honestly critique poetry (probably 'cause its above my intellect). Best wishes and hope you get back in the air soon. Blue Skies when you can You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime

  13. How the hell can Obama be even slightly qualified to get that prize. Because he is black and won the presidency? He only won because anyone with an IQ smaller than an ashtray would never have voted for someone with his qualifications. And there are a lot of dummies in this Country. Anyone with a brain is his head would have researched his background and found he had no more qualifications to become president than Bullwinkle. Not saying his opponent would have been great, but at least he had some qualifications. I have lost all respect for the Nobel Prize. 15. The problem with Winter jumping in the North is there really isn't many days where the weather allows you to do it. The other end of the coin is Florida. It gets so damn hot here in the summer, the only relief you get is while passing 5,000 ft . Associated with that is high density altitude and calm winds. Looking forward to some Winter jumping in Wisconsin. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime

  21. Thanks for the info. I am considering a 2nd rig with a Storm. I'm experienced enough for anything but having a bad ankle, I sent to the Spectre from the Silhouette since the Spectre has a stronger flair. and doesn't force me to run like the former canopy did. In other words I need something that will shut down to nothing even with no wind. I also like the snivel on the Spectre which equals soft openings. I think I will order a demo and give it a try. 22. I love the Storm and made the decision to switch from the Spectre after only 4 jumps, but you don't have the experience, with 41 jumps! The Storm will react very quickly, with little toggle input and you will get hurt. What is your opinion of the storm vs the spectre? 23. Remember most of the stats are from neighborhoods with mostly minorities and killing each other like they do greatly adds to the stats of gun violence. I keep one with me at all time (except while jumping) and would rather put someone in the ground than give him my watch. There is no room in this world for this dysfunctional garbage. I already pay enough in taxes for this vermin. You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
  24. Triathlon is a nice canopy, but I needed something that opened a bit softer so I went to the Spectre. The PD web site says "lots of snivel", they are correct.. The openings are real soft. I actually watch the snivel most of the time and on one opening recently I noticed the slider was collapsed (the packer forgot to set it). I quickly put my head down and braced myself for what I though would be a back breaker. The opening was a little more abrupt but nothing I would consider hard. I understand the Storm has similarities but with less snivel. I agree that you should demo the different canopies out there if you can. 25. Great weather for it. Monroe forecast is for clear skies, 7 mph winds and 78 degrees. You couldn't ask for a better day. ENJOY You live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
