  1. welcome to the sky buddy. you want to jump and that is the first step in making it real!!! what type of jump are you planning on doing (aff, static line, tandem)? "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  2. thanks buddy. at stf you get pied at 100 and 1000 the hd version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jp5tijDS_eo&hd=1 "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  3. i got pied, but it was far from traditional
  4. outside video didn't hear/know/whatever that the hangers were going to belly out and switch slots. i edited the video so you cant really tell. however you want to count it, it was fun
  5. yes "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  6. ??? there were 8 points turned. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  7. we did an 8 point hybrid for my 100th jump, and it turned out pretty awesome!
  8. What will the world do if they take down all the gaming networks?? implode! "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  9. here is my log book entry for level 1. "hesitation on exit count, but stable exit. arch more. good coa. good legs out and arch when prompted. nice practice touches with assistance on first two. very good altitude awareness. panicked at pull time and grabbed everything but handle. instructor deployed. good canopy control, but flared late. don't land on butt, plf. cleared to level 2 (practice touches on horizontal)." it has happened many times, and will continue to happen. the affi's are there because you are expected to fuck up a little. learn and move on. good luck and blue skies "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  10. you should have plenty of time to do those on one jump. it is weird that he failed you on a backflip. i've heard multiple instructors say they just want you to get unstable and regain belly orientation, a so the backflip isn's as important as being able get back stable. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  11. in the US, you dont really rent a rig and take it to another dropzone, you rent it from the dz you are jumping at. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  12. i have health insurance now, but i still jumped while i didnt have any. some people say it is worth it, some dont. for me it was, but you have to make up your own mind. the way i see it, insurance companies have been fucking us over our whole life, maybe we deserve the reach around. lie away!!! you can do better than falling off a ladder "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  13. 0 went to a music festival instead of jumping. first weekend i haven't gotten a jump in since the fitz boogie. i had an amazing time!!! "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  14. i went with my best friend to a tandem for his birthday. we both decided to get our licenses. i have 96 jumps now, he has 1 you will make new friends at the dropzone, and will find you probably have more in common with them once you start getting into it. even out of 30+ tandems i have brought to the dropzone, only 1 became a jumper. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  15. where i jump, you just have to get three or four people together and set up a time. we also have an instructor who lives on the property and we have a pond. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  16. indeed!!! i wish you all an awesome holiday filled with clouds of cannabis!!! only an hour and 35 minutes till mandatory lift off! "candy bars" "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  17. gear- www.chutingstar.com skydivers info manual http://www.uspa.org/SIM.aspx welcome to the sport
  18. every jump is a learning experience. you can stall any canopy with toggles. a high hop will get you more comfortable in the air. we usually only get 3 to 5 minutes under canopy per jump. under a 250 you might get 12. that is three to four jumps worth of canopy time at once. you can figure out how to execute turns of various degrees and come out on heading. you can practice flat turns (it's a life saver on any size canopy). you can practice flares and find out if your getting a full flare. practice coordinated turns, look, lean, turn the list is endless... if i ever make a skydive and don't think i have learned anything, it will be my last. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  19. Spoken like someone who has never been an S&TA. i was not implying that they do not deserve to be paid. if the s&ta needs the incentive of money to do the job he agreed on, i'd be looking for another s&ta. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  20. 1. i agree, stf now includes a flight one canopy course with the a license package. it is not required, but it's a start. 2. more rules... i think this will just piss a lot of people off. holding everyone's hand who flies a canopy is going to be a lot of time and effort for the person who has to do it. 3. seems like having to fly in brakes to avoid passing someone in the landing pattern might cause more harm than good. 4. if the lz is big enough go for it. 5. this would cost the dz a whole bunch of money. a go around cost around $150 in an otter. maybe only allow swooping from hop n pops??? this could separate hp from traditional landings without costing the dz any money. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  21. braked or flat turns. it will save your life or another's at some point. do a couple of high hop n pops and get familiar with your canopy. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  22. if the s&ta is doing his/her job, there is no need for this. i dont have experience with vey many dropzones, but if you fuck up at mine watch out for the axe. "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
  23. you have made over 140 skydives and havent killed yourself or others. seems like you are doing good! "Never grow a wishbone, where your backbone ought to be."
