  1. I am probably missing it, but I sure do miss the "View All" button next to the subject of a thread (outside of the thread in the forum view.) That makes it much easier to read a whole thread without having to open it and then select "view all". PS- HH, the site rocks!! ________________________________________________ Mike
  2. No Wilga's??? Man. ________________________________________________ Mike
  3. I'm really not sure what the harm would be in having slightly porous bottom skin. Maybe a little pressure would be lost out of the tail bottom....I dunno, I'd probably jump it before I decided one way or the other. ________________________________________________ Mike
  4. My rig just got here! Time for 2 days worth of quickies outta the cessna before the real thing. This damn thing is bigger than the Mantas I started skydiving on! Damn I'm fat! See ya'll at the bridge! ________________________________________________ Mike
  5. Did you guys license the "vtec" concept from BR? I thought "vtec" was just vents, no valves. ________________________________________________ Mike
  6. I don't know if this has changed since the requirements did, but freefall time is also a requirement. It's generally not enough to matter, but 300 h&p's might not get you there.
  7. HEY! I'll be there. SSN and all. Ready for my first jump. I think I'm gonna pee! My wife thinks the CR packing video is some wierd porno that I'm hooked on. I guess I'll have to stop messing with my "gear" when I watch it. ________________________________________________ Mike
  8. Yowzaaaa! ________________________________________________ Mike
  9. You guys do understand that no skydiving canopy is truly elliptical, right? These terms all try to reflect how CLOSE to an ellipse the canopy's shape comes. An ellipse has no straight lines, unlike canopies. Paragliding canopies come a lot closer to an ellipse, but still don't quite cut it. You guys are arguing over arbitrary, made-up terms. Modern canopies have differing degrees of taper. Peace! Okay, I'm the idiot. I posted this after reading only the 1st page of posts! Already covered. ________________________________________________ Mike
  10. If everybody lived, I would suggest they get back together and figure out why. That is the only way anything positive will come of this. ________________________________________________ Mike
  11. I think there is validity to both sides of that coin, however I am not willing to risk giving the wrong student some credit and that student be the one that gets confused over which mal to cut away and which one to work with. We've all seen the student who wants to kick ot of the line twists in the bag lock picture, and has to be shown the difference in the two. I believe that teaching to try three pumps IF the canopy AND SLIDER are square and the canopy is steerable (then emergency procedures if turn or funny shape not corrected) is reasonable. But, I don't think I will be naming the line-over as a special malfunction to work with. Reserves are just too reliable now to have students playing with line-overs. I hope you don't take offense to my disagreement with you! ________________________________________________ Mike
  12. Jim, from your attitude about how students should handle malfunctions, I had to assume you were not a JM or I. Checking your profile, I was relieved to see that I was right. I am not bashing you at all, but would submit that with this attitude:(from your profile) that it DOES matter when students are asking for good advice, and that you may want to make your experience known to them before they go against what their instructors taught them. 13. I really dig my Vengeance for the way it flies. Just my .02, never noticed a difference in turbulence, but never been dropped either. Peace! ________________________________________________ Mike
  14. I could really care less if someone wants to test me before they let me JM them, but I doubt USPA's really gonna spring for it. I'm confident that my DZO isn't going to, and I'm Positive that I'm not paying. So........ ________________________________________________ Mike
  15. The rig is ready for one. Thanks for the advice! ________________________________________________ Mike
  16. I need a belly mount reserve (that is reliable). In what configurations can one get a belly reserve? Square, round, toss-out, spring-loaded pilot chute...etc?? Also, if I have to buy one, who has 'em?
  17. Here's what the Relative Workshop says about it. (I'll take their word for it!): D. The cutaway cable should be Lolon F coated, 7x7 steel cable, lubricated every month with Silicone or Teflon.
  18. Beer. Lots of beer. ________________________________________________ Mike
  19. Fairly simple: Freedom and Danger, The Yin and Yang of skydiving. 13,500' to the ground. We're dressed like clowns. The door's open. Hit it!
  20. BASE is legal. Tresspassing is not. People will not let you jump their building/ antenna/ bridge because of lawyers and our countries liability laws. Again, hardly anywhere (BLM land, and that's constutionally argueable) is BASE illegal. 13,500' to the ground. We're dressed like clowns. The door's open. Hit it!
  21. I'm sure everyone's means something to them. I doubt yours means much to anyone but you. Why make a "mine means more than yours" contest out of it? Just curious. 13,500' to the ground. We're dressed like clowns. The door's open. Hit it!
  22. No, the airflow is the same, that is the point. The groundspeed will be different. 13,500' to the ground. We're dressed like clowns. The door's open. Hit it!
  23. Thanks for posting that. It never does any good to learn a hard lesson and not use it to help others!! Just out of curiosity, did ya look up and zone on your impact point as you deployed? That's a freaky feeling! 13,500' to the ground. We're dressed like clowns. The door's open. Hit it!
