  1. The USPA can and has removed members for violations of it's own rules including BSR violations as they should. There is no rule or BSR that I know of that states that as a USPA member you must jump at a USPA Group Member DZ, however there is a rule that prohibits USPA members/TI's from doing night tandems. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  2. 4) Do not be a USPA member while conducting the jump. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  3. I didn't see a "night" tandem in that video. I saw one that was pushing towards sunset, but without an actual time stamp, and with the vagueness of the FAA's definition of "night" I think any accusations are simply tilting at windmills. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  4. The moment you have a glove set up for them let me know! ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  5. Nice to meet you Greg! Theres a couple jump pilot groups on FaceBook that I'm sure you're be welcome on, we'd love to hear your stories. You can find me at [email protected] ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  6. Maybe not doom, but in the last year their stock value has dropped by half. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  7. Careful, you'll sound like me shortly. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  8. Been there, done that..... ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  9. Would I make the same choice? Would I have driven down the same Highway? Yes. I might have change lanes differently, or taken a couple different sidetracks, maybe passed on a path or two, but then hindsight is 20/20. I don't regret the main choice at all. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  10. Yep, almost that exact spot 16 years ago. Seriously. Here's the deal. It will be great, it will suck, you will hate some days, and love others. You will make great friends, and some enemies. You will become fed up, but you will learn to cope, you will produce change, and you will also change yourself. You will laugh, and you will cry. You probably won't regret any of it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  11. I have one and I love it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  12. I'd just smile, shake their hand, and write "Repeat Tandem Level 1" in their logbook. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  13. Do you tolerate the guy with 100 jumps lecturing you about swooping? No? Yeah, well this is like that. A TI with 100 tandems knows jack shit about it. They have the opportunity and choice to learn to do it the right way, or be another wanna be badass. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  14. You need to quit skydiving. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  15. Contact the person/company that ordered it for you, then the manufacturer. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  16. Pull ratings. Hopefully an S&TA in Hawaii has already performed a 30 day suspension of the TI's rating pending an investigation by the Regional Director. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  17. Well there is a whole different can o' worms to open up. Who needs a sub 360 tandem canopy? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  18. Go home. You're drunk. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  19. The added speed over the airfoil and the mass of the tandem pair aft of the point of equilibrium swinging back forward are what make them "flair better". You can achieve the same effect with a "brake-surge" without the risk of a blind spot in the turn, or getting "in the corner". Of course the "[strikethrough]flair[/strikethrough]flare better" is perception. The added speed simply gives a larger window of opportunity to get the flare timing right, thus giving the perception of better landings. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  20. I am not. If you can't stand them up without doing a hook turn, you need to work on your tandem canopy skills. Not every tandem needs to or should result in a stand up landing. Doing a hook turn puts the student who has no way of knowing the risk in added danger they didn't sign up for. The student expects and deserves the safest ride back down to the ground possible. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  21. Anyone defending the tandem pilot here is wrong, dead wrong, and if you don't agree, please stop skydiving before you kill someone. a) low canopy has right of way. ALWAYS. Physics dictates that. b) a tandem instructor and his/her actions are DIRECTLY responsible for the safety of another human life beyond their own. This means assumption (like assuming the blind spot below and behind you is clear) are deadly. c) if you're a tandem instructor who does an intentional speed inducing turn to landing without clearing your airspace you're a selfish dick who has no regard for human life, and if you fuck it up and hurt someone, well in my view that's akin to attempted manslaughter. Of course that's just the opinion of an asshole who's brought more than 8,500 tandem students safely back to the ground. On another note, we can breath a sigh of relief because by all reports, even though there is now yet ANOTHER black mark on tandem skydiving the size of Kansas for all to see, the AFF STUDENT that the tandem pilot hit is still alive and recovering in the hospital. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  22. Just remember to be extra vigilant in checking your harness for wear with such straps installed as chafing will occur. You all do check your harnesses for wear on a regular basis, don't you? ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  23. Rent an airplane. Get a Rig. Find a TI. Done. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  24. Not that I know of, though I haven't looked too hard as I like my shoulders way too much to jump one unless I'm getting big dollars to do it. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
  25. Then do that. Without a camera. ---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
