  1. I don't think you will ever be out of a job. War has been around since the beginning of recorded history and will be here as long as people are willing to kill for their assorted reasons. I guess it's human nature. The need to conquer, control, and destroy. Not to mention the most common reason for war. Religion.
  2. Thank you for illustrating that the US is doing its best to minimize civilian casualties. It is not the policy of the US to target civilians.
  3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grow up. War means soldiers and some civilians will die. Its not a pissing contest. As long as more enemy soldiers die then american things are going well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grow up?????? Growing up doesn't mean growing cold, or numb. True but that is the reality of war. The US has done it's best to minimize the amount of civilian casualties by developing more accurate weapons. In WWII carpet bombing was the thing to do. Not so anymore. The price of war is that people will die. Some good, some bad and some totally innocent. All these things must be considered when contemplating war.
  4. I don't think that Iraq was a direct threat to the US. Iraq was not living up to the agreements made in the first Gulf war. The UN kept letting it go and letting it go. This makes the UN into a big joke. If they can't enforce anything then why would any one respect them. The US can not afford to make threats and not back them up, or else they are just a joke like the UN.
  5. Iraq was not living up to their agreements from the first Gulf War. Saddam didn't cooperate and was actively thumbing his nose at the UN. The UN was going to do nothing so the US did something. Don't make a threat you can't follow through with.
  6. It woke up the american public to the growing threats around the world. Do we need to wait for another 9/11 before defending ourselves?

  8. Here is the best picture I have. Had to resize it.
  9. I recently did 15 min at the Perris tunnel. It was amazing. It is definitely as close to skydiving as anyone can get with touching a plane. Takes a lot of stress out of making mistakes. It is a great learning tool.
  10. Seems like those two 10 year olds were able to plan out that murder pretty well.
  11. I am absolutly against it, it's the scourge of humanity. That is unless you are for it. Then I am absolutly for it. Nothing better. Everyone should try it.
  12. Yeah but before 9/11 there was not enough evidence to back those unpopular choices. The public would not have allowed the leaders at that time to make them. I am not sure of this but I think that the terrorists did nothing illegal till they actually hijacked the planes. I don't think they carried anything illegal on to the planes. At least they weren't illegal till after 9/11. I doubt that questioning the Al-Qaeda operatives would have done anything to deter them from hijacking the planes. As long as they didn't do anything illegal they would be free to do what ever they wanted. The more unpopular choices that a politician has to make the less likely he will stay in office. Americans want leaders that make them happy. So now we have leaders that mostly tell us what we want to hear and not what we need to hear. The hard decisions have to be made in secrecy so that the politician can stay in office. Every election campaign that I have every followed has been full of shit. The debates are all full of shit. They never really say anything concrete. It is mostly just each politican trying to say the most appealing things while making the opposition look bad.
  13. I leave mine down for the canopy ride. I didn't like the way it felt with the visor up. I also wear glassses and that is the reason that I bought this helmet. I mostly freefly and have had no problems with it at all.
  14. Don't agree at all. If ATC and the Air Force had been alerted to the likelihood of a hijacking I suspect the off-course planes would have produced a reaction in time for an interception. There was plenty of time, provided they were on alert. OK so if they did have time to intercept the planes then what? Do you really think that the American public would have accepted having 3 planes shot down by our military? Do you think that they would have accepted the explanation that the planes were going to be crashed into buildings? Most of the politicians are lawyers. These lawyers would have argued that there was no real evidence that those planes were going to crash into any buildings. GWB would most likely have been impeached. Shooting down those planes would have been a political nightmare for any politician.
  15. My point is that even if the dots were connected there would not have been a lot that could have been done to prevent 9/11. The American people would not have been very receptive to added security. Most people would have said that their freedoms were being restricted and would have complained endlessly causing politicians every where to resist any added security. There would not have been enough evidence to prove that Bin Laden was going to attack the US internally. Politics impedes any proactive security measures and only supports reactive measures.
  16. "Dukes of Hazzard"!! I love the "Dukes of Hazzard" Watched that all of the time as I was growning up. I had a major crush on Daisy Duke.
  17. What do you think would have happened if the President had known that there were two planes hijacked and on their way to crash into the WTC buildings? Could he have had those planes shot down before they made it that far? If he did shoot them down there would be lots of people condemning him for shooting them down and saying that there was no solid proof that those planes were going to crash into any building and that they were probably just going to go to Libya or somewhere similar. If he didn't shoot them down then we would have what is going on now. People bitching about why didn't the president stop the planes? Damned if you do and damned if you don't. If some one is truly determined to kill someone and was will to do what ever it took. there isn't much anyone can really do to stop that person with out knowing a lot of specific knowledge before hand. Knowing that a plane might be hijacked is not really enough for the american people to justify shutting down airports and elevating security to the level it is at now.
  18. Maybe he lives in the Ocala National Forest? Maybe the Hog Valley area? lol sorry couldn't help poking fun at the Forest people south of Palatka. I don't know what to tell you about this situation. Have you tried to talk to her about it. If not you might want to be really tactful in bringing it up. Don't just come out and say she is lazy. That will only start a fight and nothing good will be accomplished.

    Jackie Chan

at 52 years old he is probably getting a little too old to be doing all the things he did in his earlier movies. He and Bruce Lee really don't compare. They have two totally different styles. Jackie is always having fun. I don't think he has a snobbish bone in him. Bruce was just plain intense in his drive for perfection. I like both of them.
  20. Yeah think positive. Soon he will be out and about spending your money like there is no limit and chasing the local girls before you know it you'll be looking at grand kids

    Wind

Its all in the odds. If you don't like the chances of you making it down safely, then why push it. There are plenty more days out there. You just have to be alive to enjoy them.

    Wind

    Better luck next time.
  24. well I did a down wind landing in pretty fast winds, I think they were around 15 mph maybe, right into on coming swooper going the opposite direction. I was fixated on landing on making it back when I got too low to turn into the wind. Got lucky and escaped with minor scrapes on my knees. Also never assume that the field of weeds you decide to land in is only a couple of feet high. I ended up land really hard on my ass. It really hurt for a couple of weeks. I think I might have fractured my tail bone. Who knows? I made myself do two more jumps just to make sure I wasn't scared. That was all the pain I could stand. Ouch those weeds were taller then me. Be careful stupidity kills in skydiving, so does over confidence.
