  1. At this moment I do not have my rig. It is a long, sad story, but nonetheless. I want to play though!! Anyone got an extra I can borrow?? (I normally jump a Triathalon 120.) Maybe next weekend I can go play, but I can't make it this weekend. I would LOVE to get together with someone, or some of you, during next week. Any takers??? Jaime
  2. I knew Z-Hills was close, but I want some friends here! LOL I think I am less than 30 miles from there. I wonder if there are any folks here in Tampa that I can hang out with during the week. Hmmm???
  3. I haven't been on here in a LONG time... so I may as well be a newbie! LOL I just moved to the Tampa area and I am looking for some new skydiving friends and family. Anyone out there??? Blue skies, Jaime
  4. Airann... I live in Shreveport now. The "drop zone" that was at the downtown airport is NOT a USPA member drop zone. Some people still go there to jump, but I don't. I go to Gladewater which is only an hour away. The people there are wonderful. The drop zone is pretty and everything about it is great. I STRONGLY recommend going there over anywhere else. It is the closest one to us, afterall. When will you be in Shreveport?? Keep in touch and maybe we can get together when you get in town. BLUE SKIES, Jaime
  5. From the West Tennessee Skydiving Newsletter: MEMORIAL DAY BOOGIE!!!!! OK guys, here comes the Memorial day boogie! Kingair, cheap jumps and just loads of fun! We are having some sort of a 4 way event then, so if you have a 4 way team, bring them out. This will be on the tail end of the AFF cert course, so we may have some new AFF JMs to break in, but for sure we have a lot of air to wear out! Not to mention the pool and all. The place is really spruced up due to the terrific effort of Chris and Judy, along with others of course. So let everyone know to come out and play. From what I was told, jumps will be $10 to 14,000' from the King Air. Anyone planning to go????
  6. My name is Traci, and I have 35 wonderful skydives. These excellent folks over in East Texas got it goin' on. The most laid back drop zone that there is this side of Dallas. If you haven't been there, you are definitly missin' out. If you are near-by, you ought to give them a try.....903-SKY-DIVE........If you don't, your loss.
  7. Funny game. Guess I shouldn't spot either. I got 2 out of 10.
  8. Well, it looks like I won't be there this weekend. The weather looks like it will be rainy on Saturday and cloudy Sunday. We'll have to catch up some other time!! BLUE SKIES!!
  9. I'm heading to Skydive Spaceland this weekend and I'm wondering if anyone here jumps there??? Let's meet up and make a jump!!

    fun 2-ways

One of my favorite 2 ways is a copy cat dive. Exit, dock facing each other, then skydiver 1 turns 90 degrees to the left, skydiver 2 docks on sidebody. Back to facing each other then #2 turns. Back to facing, skydiver #1 turns 180 degrees and #2 takes cat grips. Back to facing, #2 copies it. Back to facing, #1 turns 360 degrees, #2 copies it. Then change it to right turns and keep going. I did this with a friend and we got 28 points out of it!! It's fun and you can learn a lot from it.
  11. What a cool story! I got chills reading it! Thanks for posting that, Greg!! BLUE SKIES!

    Quincy

I'm planning to go, although it isn't for sure yet! BLUE SKIES!
  13. Some friends of mine had planned on starting "it" in the plane then rolling out into freefall and holding on until break off time. However, for whatever reason they didn't get to make the jump. This was to be done for a night jump on New Years Eve a couple of years ago, out of a Cessna 182. I think, with the right plane and the right planning, it could be done, but only for a very short time. Of course I would be disappointed if it wasn't finished upon landing!!
  14. Way to go Kelly! Now, all you have to do it jump more!!
  15. Froggie it sounds like you had a blast!! Glad to see you home though!! I'VE MISSED YOU!!
  16. That sounds like a wonderful idea!! Let's send them an invitation!! BLUE SKIES!
  17. When will we, as a skydiving population, learn from our fallen friends' mistakes?? How many deaths will it take for people to start saying, "Gee, maybe I should be more careful." Blue skies to everyone.....
  18. For someone to "bounceproof" your logbook, it means to have someone sign the very last square, your last jump, in the logbook. It's kind of a "good luck" type thing.
  19. Speedracer, that was a big, black spiral bound logbook. If you read what I wrote, you would see that I said I had 323 jumps in it, how in the world would I fit all those jumps in one of those little blue paper logbooks??
  20. Jessica, next time I head to Skydive Dallas I will bring beer for you and Sis! Yes, I filled a whole logboog, 323 jumps, plus 2 in my new book! I am planning to take a lot less time to fill logbook #2! It took about 6 1/2 years to fill #1!! WAY TOO LONG!
  21. Welcome Billy! We hope you have as much here as we do!! BLUE SKIES!!
  22. Well, I told everyone when I found out I was getting my Cypres, so now I can tell everyone that I got it and had it installed last weekend!! I haven't made a jump with it yet, but I am planning to this weekend!! YEAH!! What a sense of relief knowing it will be there now. WHEW!! Also, I finally finished my first logbook 2 weekends ago!! I am so proud of myself, just knowing I have completed something, and started a new one!
  23. Speedracer, you're absolutely right. When you have to get out because of an emergency, it is usually low, so you don't have time to wait for your main to open (think about how long it takes sometimes, especially if you pack it to snivel!) so always go for your reserve. It is made to open fast in an emergency!
  24. My lowest was 2,500', but like both of you, if the pilot said "OUT" I would get out at 1,000' if I had to. BLUE SKIES!!
