  1. She still is, last time I checked. Always talking about whichever guy tried to feel her up last. That's a personal attack. You should be banned. For life and 20 years thereafter. After that, you should only be allowed to post on alternate leap years. And how do you like Mike Corley, the MI5 guy? He's some piece of work, eh? If you google him, you'll find several news articles and a play based on his usenet activities. The other sporger is probably Bloxy, who occasionally goes off his meds (but it could be anyone with armed with HipCrime's User Agent). If either of them tries to feel me up, I'll knock 'em out, and then perhaps we'll have some peace. Or, at least, some fewer posts to delete unread. That stuff--the sporge and the other flooding--is a royal pita, but I don't think it outweighs the benefits of free speech. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. 2. Why do you think this? Because I know that a lot of important, relevant words are uttered by people I can't stand, just as a lot of inane nonsense is put forth by people I like a whole lot. (And I have some of both to my own credit, just like everyone else.) Usenet allows people to use killfiles--it then becomes an individual decision to turn a deaf ear to someone's words. Web forums resort to net nannies--people who are adjudged by the site owner to have "superior judgment" about what is appropriate and not (i.e., what falls within the forum guidelines). I haven't seen it happen anywhere that moderators are possessed of such traits as to enable them to put aside their personal likes and prejudices to be utterly fair in making judgments. The legal system understands the impossibility, and it maintains a system of checks and balances, but on a web forum, it comes down to the site owner saying "this is my property, and I can do what I want." Okay, fine. But that doesn't make it right and it doesn't make it fair. (The great trait of usenet is that even though individuals (just like a web forum owner, but bigger) own all those nntp servers that send the posts ever onward, you'll never catch any of them (except, of course, Microsoft, which is nothing but a big bully in every aspect of its existence) censoring the posts that go through them, except as to floods and spam. Sponsorship takes the moderation problem one step further--people are required to suck up in unnatural ways so that their voices may be heard. I do believe there are a lot of words spoken that should never be said and that those words reflect the bad character of their speaker, but I would never want to be the one to silence the voice of another*. That doesn't mean I have to listen, but there's a big difference between my refusing to read a post and someone else making the unilateral decision that no one else will read a post. "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." I'm not sure I'm explaining this very well. I'm tired. If I reread it tomorrow, and it doesn't make sense to me, I'll try to fix it. (*I would never/have never hesitated to pound on someone who voiced a pig-ignorant opinon--and I've taken a few poundings of my own when I've said/written something moronic--but that's not the same thing as killing someone's post so that no one has a chance to weigh in with their evaluation of the quality of the thought. People don't learn anything from going to the Recycle Bin. They do learn when everyone else jumps all over them and makes them think about the stupid words they've written. In a forum where remaining requires avoiding giving offense, no one learns anything.) If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  3. Although it is true that you and I do not always (or even often, and most probably, never) see eye-to-eye, I would sponsor you simply because it is most often vehement disagreement that gives birth to personal growth and new ideas. Moderation--of any kind--sucks for a whole host of reasons, and the requirement that someone be liked enough to gain sponsorship in order to have his or her voice heard absolutely, positively, unequivocally SUCKS. Web forums are a terrible blow to free speech and the free exchange of ideas anyway, but sponsorship is ridiculous. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. 4. I didn't reply to your poll, but here's my answer: The only times I find fellatio unpleasant are when the guy gags me or cuts off my ability to breathe, both of which make my eyes water and my nose run. Smaller guys get more blow jobs. At least, they do from me. rl P.S. And yes, I swallow. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  5. If you eat less, they'll loosen up. ;) If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  6. Walt, yes. I really, really enjoy it. Your reply, along with some of the others, is heartening. I don't know about the rest of the women (well, actually, if I had to guess, maybe I do know), but I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of cunnilingus from a guy who didn't enjoy it. And if guys don't think women can tell the difference between a guy who is goal-driven and a guy who enjoys what he's doing, think again. In a good relationship, I would think it should work both ways. This was the part that cracked me up. "A drink of vaginal discharge." There are absolutely delicious edibles some of us consume in small quantities that would be outright sickening in excessive portions. Chocolate espresso beans. Caviar. Semen. Hmmm...maybe we should ask the women how they feel about fellatio. Sex is not a chore. Turning it into one takes all the joy out of it. 7. I think this thread is one of the most offensive I've ever read in these forums. It isn't "harmless fun." IMO, it's cruel, it's abusive and it sucks. I find it strange that this thread wasn't locked after just a couple of posts. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  8. Well. I know RL. Doubt she remembers me. Never met Amazon in person. Damn sure wouldn't wanna be in cuffs w/ the 2 together. Maybe if I knew who you were under that avatar and pseudonym, I could surprise you. I'm great with faces and behaviors, but sometimes I even call my cat by the name of the one that came before her. rl P.S. I think Amazon and I would work very well together. ;) If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  9. ;) I like his idea, i.e., Amazon, just as I like all the other suggestions in this thread--they are all worthy candidates for the title, IMO. But I worked pretty hard (read "I postwhored my ass off") for it back in the day, and his attempt to give it away has earned him a turn (or two) with the flogger. Carry on. 11. In the US, it can cost your estate several thousand dollars (essentially shipping and handling) to donate your body to science. Most people aren't aware of this, and it can be an unpleasant surprise to your survivors, particularly if your estate is small. Good choice. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  12. Can I get a vote too? All you want from me is a vote? Sheesh! More seriously, only if you're running for ND. If you want to be an RD, you'll have to move to New Jersey. Even more seriously, I have many years experience with your opinions and actions, and I would have no hesitation giving you my vote. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. 13. And everything and everyone else too. Ahhh...Mike's okay. He just loved (and probably still loves) being a curmudgeon. I still have my tee shirt: "The only guarantee in skydiving..." :) I've got one of those too (and that's kinda funny given some of his and my interactions). It's because beneath that curmudgeonly exterior, he was/is a teddy bear. He's really one of the nicest, most caring guys I know. He just managed to do "fuckhead" really, really well online. :) rl (I'm sure if he hears about this, he'll want to kill me for giving him away.) 14. Oh my. That was excellent, Nick. I'm sure we've nauseated everyone else, but for about 30 seconds there, I felt 12 years fall right off me. I miss rec.skydiving. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

  18. No, actually. :) The beginning is here, in 1988: ftp://ftp.afn.org/skydive/rec.skydiving.archives/ Someone should maybe talk to these guys about this, because the Skydive! Archive site is down now, and there's no telling how long the ftp site will last. It would be a shame to lose the history if someone has a place to store it. (Note: I've got the whole mess downloaded, but that's not the same thing. And I haven't bothered to get the other stuff, like the dropzone reviews.) archive.org has the Skydive! Archive here: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.afn.org/skydive/ ...but the posts from the the ftp site aren't collected, although the posts from '93 to '96 are: http://web.archive.org/web/20020501075208/www.afn.org/skydive/usenet/ Hey RhondaLea, I took the archives, put them in a searchable and threaded database, registered the domain name recskydiving.org and hosted it from home. I've since moved to an external host who's database space is a bit more frugal and it would cost me about $20 a month to host the data. Does anyone have a spare 150 MB of SQL Server space to spare (I guess it could be MySql with a bit of conversion)? Rest assured, the old stuff is archived somewhere! I don't have the space, but I have $20 a month to contribute. I can PayPal you $20 at the end of the week, and at the end of this month, I'll send you the full amount for 2008. Will that do? Hugs, me P.S. Actually, I might have a site. Which works better for you? The money or the space? If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  19. and binaries. Dont forget Snuffy and Peanut. And Bozo. and Rhonda lee And a whole bunch of others, a fair number of whom are now dead or living lives apart from skydiving. 20. FINALLY...someone ELSE is on the hot seat! And no one deserves it more than HIM!! Thanks to the little bird who told me about this thread, or I'd have missed the opportunity to say... ...you'll have more time to post now, Jim. Just don't turn into Snuffy. 21. Take him down? No. I would show him the facts, and make sure he has access to the information and all the complaints, if he still refuses to NOT accept the GCs then I would no longer patronize that DZ. It shows a lapse in charachter in my opinion. If the management has the information in hand, sees the complaints and the history and the practices and the fraud, and still accepts the business, there is something wrong. Okay, I'll renew my membership after all. But you damn well better run, now that I'm about to invest $49 dollars (or whatever renewal costs these days) in your campaign. It doesn't matter to me anymore, because I no longer skydive. What mattered to me was your ethical statement. Believe me, they know how I feel. I have the same problem, however, as bill does with regard to Dan BC--I really like some of the people who are running USPA. Doing the right thing and standing up against the wrong thing are sometimes very hard to do. And it's the problem every single newly elected board member runs into, and most of the time, the pressure is too much. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. 24. Aye, there's the rub. And it has always been the underlying problem with USPA. When everyone starts voting for BOD members because of their ethics and integrity, instead of because of friendship or potential for personal gain, things will change. In other words, things are never going to change, because the sanctity of friendship (and to a lesser extent, personal gain) trumps ethics and integrity nearly every time. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. 25. So what are YOU actively doing at a loca level to participate in the process of change at a national level Other than posting here Posting here is a start - it is "something" . . . It's more than some might imagine.
