Heartbreaking news. Robbie was one of the kindest people I've ever known, and the world is diminished by his loss. Condolences to his family, on and off the dz. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

    Mail Migration Help Thread

FYI, Outlook 2013 does not allow disabling of the test message that it sends during account setup. I had no problem logging into the server, but for whatever reason, the test message failed. Repeatedly. And yes, all my settings were correct. I ended up exporting to a spare Gmail account, but I wanted to make note of this in case someone else has the same problem. 4. The names you're looking for are at the bottom of each forum between the post links and the icon legend. See the attachment. Clicking the individual links will take you to your selection's profile. The profiles have a link to send a private message, immediately under the personal profile information. I understand why you're angry--I even agree with you--but you're mistaken if you think it was ever any different. I hope the man in charge comes along soon to address this, but I figured that in the meantime, you'd want to be able to reach out to the appropriate moderators. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Near-perfect characterization. I'd add "generous, fair and loyal" to round it out. I can't believe he's gone.

  12. It's because those links are at the top at dz.com. Did you not see them, or are you suggesting they should also be at the bottom? If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb
  13. Have you gotten a cost estimate on what you'll pay in legal fees to defend a libel action? I may be wrong, but if she is ONLY exposing the truth and not fabricating info, why would she need to pay legal fees? Because in the American legal system, being right (and we have no idea if he/she would be guilty of libel) does not preclude you from paying legal defense fees. It's been a hot topic for many years. Lawsuits which may not have merit can still threaten/etc because of the fee factor. Recently I was one of several defendants (along with my husband) in an internet (usenet, specifically) libel action. We were named even though the lawyer who brought the action knew we had nothing to do with the libel. Although the action was dismissed against the two of us relatively quickly--six months--and the legal cosrs were also relatively small (slightly over $10K), it was still an oppressive experience. I do not recommend putting oneself in a position where the possibility exists of being involved in such an action. Given the subject, I think the risk in this case is high. Subaru Outback ad campaign

Don't feel bad. My husband is one of those SAP guys, and he didn't either. :) Then there's this: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm I don't use it, nor do I ordinarily use ad-blocking software--I have AdBlock Plus for Firefox, but I normally use IE, and I'm very selective about what I block in InPrivate Filtering--because allowing advertising is one way I can support the sites I use regularly. (Something for people who use ad-blocking software to keep in mind.) When any site starts to slow or outright disable my computer, however, all bets are off, so when the ads on this site started sending my CPU to 100%, I added the ad servers to my hosts file. Per that article, the 127 address might not be the best one to use. Well then, use: 0.0.0.0 adtechus.com 0.0.0.0 adserver.adtechus.com 0.0.0.0 adtuition.com And remember to make the file "read only." If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

The other solution, which works for any browser, is to put the following three lines in your hosts file: 127.0.0.1 adtechus.com 127.0.0.1 adserver.adtechus.com 127.0.0.1 adtuition.com Goodbye ads. Rest in Peace, LeRoy Buckley

And...the way he always wrote it was with a space between the "e" and the "R", thus "Le Roy." I had a moment of forgetfulness, so when I searched my mail, I was unable to find him, until I put the space in...then all his emails magically appeared. We weren't friends at the end of his life, although I finally confirmed the very last invitation he sent me--too late unless he's watching from where he is now--but what many have said of him is true: he never meant harm to anyone, and he made every effort to rebuild the bridges he inadvertantly burned in earlier years. And I agree with you: PTSD and carjacking would have been a far better outcome. His passing is a terrible loss. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Aaron "Crash" Moore-Memorial 9/11

Yes, his tone could be abrasive at times--I still have a scar or two--but underneath that, he was sweetheart. I saw the post in Incidents yesterday, but the linked newspaper article said his injuries were not life-threatening. Then I logged on this morning and saw your post here. pop ups

I should have given you this link: http://www.filehippo.com/software/antispyware/ The party line is to download from the author's website, but FileHippo is reliable, and it has most of the better free tools. I had several replies, but nothing yet from the MBAM analyst. In the meantime, someone smarter than me pointed out that since it's adware, AdAware might pick it up where the others do not. rl If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. I found this: http://www.windowskb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/windowsxp/266392/Pop-Ups and this http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/lofiversion/index.php/t214830.html SuperAntiSpyware http://superantispyware.com/ is also free, and along with MBAM, is considered one of the top removers. (Spybot and AdAware are pretty much a waste of time, but having now written that, one of them will probably be the only program that finds it.) You can always try running a HiJackThis scan (http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/), and you can check it here: http://hijackthis.de/ but even if it gives you a big red "x" in spots, you shouldn't kill anything. Just use it as a tool for figuring out what you have. In the meantime, I'll ask one of the guys at MBAM why their program didn't pick it up and what to do about it. FYI, the site doesn't exist. "No whois server known for the given domain" You might want to try scanning with Malwarebytes, which is, overall, the most reliable scanner available for this sort of thing. If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

    Blue skies Rita Ippoliti

I found this on another message board: Rita, who went by the name Kryos, passed away last night. Nobody knows exactly what happened. She wrote to me last night and said she had stayed home from work due to a migraine. They found she had passed out in the bathroom, hit her head pretty hard, and did not wake up. http://www.cruisemates.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3793146 If you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from.
