  1. Even if you are not a fan of CRW (Canopy Formation) you will find these videos impressive. Links to the 81-way and 85-way videos are below the big photo. http://www.cfworldrecord.com Enjoy, Kevin ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
  2. Check the CFWR website for the new videos. SEE - The most awesome sunset load you can imagine !! SEE - The biggest nylon/flesh constructed aircraft in history approaching the planet like an Imperial Battle Cruiser. SEE - The most daring and intrepid CRWDogs on earth make it all look like a walk in the park. ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...

  4. Last week at the CRW World Record jumps in Lake Wales FL, we gathered up a lot of messages that were to be passed to Bill. Hopefully, he received them and they added to the other messages he had been receiving since his illness. I hope he got the message that jumpers all over the country were grateful for the service he had rendered and the good that he had done for all of us. Bill Ottley considered the advancement of skydiving to be his life's work. He succeeded admirably. Blue Skies, Bill. 5. Let's just have them on seperate jump runs to avoid airspace conflicts. ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
  6. It was great having the CFWR Wrap-Up party at Ernie & Laura's house last night. Between Wendy's fabulous wrap videos and the multi-national drinking songs - all fueled by a generous supply of adult beverages, I think everyone had a good time. Best wishes to all for safe travels back home. Wow, what a week. Kevin ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
  7. I hope to jump the Mamba one of these days. That day, it just didn't work out. The best thing about that demo was that I didn't have to untangle and repack the main - and I got a free T- shirt. What's not to love. As for the reserve ride, that's just extra practice for the big CRW event. Kevin K. ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
  8. Once again, the planets are coming into alignment, and CRWDogs from all over the world are starting to converge on Lake Wales, Florida, USA. These folks have all been working, training, and meditating on this project for the last two years. I, for one, am looking forward to the energy, the togetherness, and the challenge - flying with some of the folks who I consider to be my heros, the absolute best CRW flyers in the business. Some who I consider to be just as skilled will not be there. I'll miss them. This event creates an awesome effect on the participants. Kind of like the nationals or other competitions, it makes everyone focus so tightly and boost their skill so much that the results will be spectacular. Strength increases, pain receeds, fear is ignored. Success is the reward. Yeah, Baby. See you in Lake Wales. 9. As to physical exercises, there are some good ones for arm strength in the range that will help with CRW. At a gym, find the machine that has the pull-down bar with pulleys and weghts attached. Usually, these have a snap link to attach different bars. Replace the bar with a strap or piece of webbing, that you can grab like a riser. It doesn't have to be a duplicate of a riser, just some kind of strap to hang on to. Then, kneel down on the floor so that the angle approximates where your riser is on one side. Pull the strap down to your chest and slowly let it back up. Start with low weight and about 20 reps, alternating arms. Once you get up to a zillion reps with huge weight, you'll be ready to do CRW with those ZHills guys. 10. Considering the discussion that has ensued from the accident at Texel (AAD firing in a landing swoop), does anyone have an opinion on Cypres use in the upcoming CFWR ? Wendy has expressed concerns about AAD activations from the PF of the new walki-talkies slated for use in the formation. We did an all-up test of these at Louisberg NC, and no reserves came out. I wouldn't call that a definitive test program (3 loads), but it's encouraging. Kevin ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
  11. In my judgement, it is certainly a grounding situation. The person should receive re-training to include an evaluation process to determine if she really understands how all of this stuff works. I think it's amazing some of the ideas people have about gear operation. They may be completely wrong about something, but no one knows about their bizarre concept until something like this happens. Many people seem to think that this little silver thing with the red light is some kind of "Harry Potter Magic Charm" that will protect them from all evil. After all, it costs a lot of money, so it must do everything. Today's equipment is so good, that people can survive in the sport for quite a while even when fairly clueless. However, the Darwinian aspect of skydiving is still very strong. If someone is clueless enough, they're going to go in sooner or later. 13. Moss Point, Mississippi has the best restrooms at any DZ I've seen. Can you believe fresh flowers and supply of fresh-laundered towels. I hope their staff and facilities are OK following the hurricane. kevin ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
  14. I'm no vet, and I hate to alarm you, but that's a sympyom of feline leukemia (which may have a more official name). You should get him checked by a vet ASAP, because it's extremely fatal. Then, again, he may have a cold, but it's better to be safe. kevin ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
  15. I don't know if there's a DZ in Cancun Mexico, but I'm guessing they're grounded. kevin ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...

  17. I'm looking for a ride from LAX to PV on 10/26. I'll be getting in around 3:30pm. Anyone want to split a car rental ?? Kevin K. ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
  18. We did a little experiment last weekend at CSS with wireless video. Unfortunately, the experimentation was limited to one jump, due to weather. The camera was helmet mounted, as a conventional setup would be. But this wireless camera is very small, and can go almost anywhere, so we will be working on some unusual camera positioning, now that we have this setup working. 21. I think the helmet in your photo is fine. You'll save money because you already own it, and it is actually much better protection than most of the freefly helmets on the market. It's very rare that your ears need much protection. It's mostly the junk between them that needs looking after. 22. That's certainly a plus at some DZs I've visited.
  23. In MY OPINION, a D-Bag is easier, more reliable, and consistent than a freepack. Just in case any newbies think there's only one way to deploy a CRW canopy. Kevin K. ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
  24. Here in Florida, post hurricanes, everyone either had a generator, or was looking for one. There was a story about someone who had their generator running to keep the refrigerator, etc. going. They could hear it constantly, so didn't know what was up when the fridge and a/c started getting warm. They went out back to find their lawnmower had been started and the generator stolen. ====================== Seasons don't fear the Reaper, nor do the Wind, the Sun, or the Rain...
