When the student puts his knees down, keeps his arms across his chest, the instructer gets big and the relative wind hits the pair in the side. It turns them into a giant propeller that increases in speed and seperates the student and jm at the connectors. One they showed was so fierce it collapsed the arches in the jm's feet from the pressure of the blood being forced into the bottom of his legs. Drewfus McDoofus

Where to jump near San Antonion, Texas

Well? Drewfus McDoofus -
I was shooting tandem yesterday and saw the following: as the student and jump master exited the cesna the students foot caught the strut right above the wheel. The two did 6 and 1/2 cartwheels before they settled enough to dump the drouge. The look on the jummasters face when i caught up to them was priceless. The jummaster is way experienced (ie more than 5000 tandems) so it was just one of those things. Funny as hell though. My querry is this: anybody every first hand seen a side spin? I watched the side spin video last week (no, I will never be a tandem master), pretty hairy shit. Drewfus McDoofus

Suit with wings versus a freefly suit

Ok, technically all I did was plop my hand on the students noggin while in a belly fly. With my build (tall and lanky) and the makeup of the tandem in question (two big, big boys) if, and I must emphasize, IF I could head down worth a shit I might have been able to. Drewfus McDoofus -
Suit with wings versus a freefly suit

Should work. What is your build like? There is also the additional option, though I have never jumped one, of the camera jackets. I saw one of the camera men at the valentine's 4-way meet in Eloy using one. Drewfus McDoofus -
Dang, can they do all that in one throw? Best of luck, my prayers are with him. Drewfus McDoofus

Right, the old it's my friends magazine story. S'alright, proudly own your porn, dude. Tell "your friend" to clean "her" room. Drewfus McDoofus

Suit with wings versus a freefly suit

Here's me update: shot a tandem with the freefly suit yesterday. I felt I could get to places as fast and assume the same positions with the freefly suit as i could the wing suit and still had free use of my arms and hands undinered by length of the wings. Plus, i spocked the student and he thought it was really cool. While I agree that the winged suit will be better for RW, the freefly suit is definitely the way to go for soing tandems, in my humble opinion. Drewfus McDoofus -
I bet you do. Have a good time! Drewfus McDoofus

On a only tangentaly related point, I jumped the hot air baloon in Eloy. It was the coolest thing ever, plus burned off my stinging hangover with the quickness. I advise it. Even if it is a bit pricey. Drewfus McDoofus

Best of skill, skydiving should never be luck dependant. I am sure you will rock, kick ass and take name! Drewfus McDoofus

I hear both Perris and Elsinore are about an hour out, give or take. Me thinks that a cute female skydiver can probably show up at about ANY dz in the world and somehow find people to jump with. Hell, they might create a boogie to commemerate the event given enough notice. I don't know about Elsinore and Perris though. After all, near LA and all. Just a thought. Drewfus McDoofus

Yeah, that would suck. Unless we could pick the city. My vote is for East Palo Alto, California. Or San Jose. Drewfus McDoofus

Wind tunnels are boring, skydiving is fun. I would rather do a hop and pop from 3,000 than the wind tunnel. Maybe this'l help: try to remember that skydiving is fun. Even AFF is supposed to be fun though for many it isn't because of the sort of performance anxiety you are talking about. Try visualizing the dive before you go to bed, from exit to touch down. This time, imagine you are doing the dive alone and that you nail it dead. See your body position from the outside (have you ever gotten video?), imagine yourself smiling the whole time. Hell, imagine there is kickin' music of your choice blaring like on video. My roomate had a problem with flat spins then developed performance anxiety that took all the fun out of it. For her, the trick was changing AFF jump masters to one that took the pressure off and made it fun again. Keep telling yourself you will style the next two levels and graduate in two jumps on the same day and you will. Drewfus McDoofus

How much does the coach coarse cost?

Maybe tell me how much people paid without telling me where unless you really want to. Drewfus McDoofus -
Suit with wings versus a freefly suit

I got a one piece freefly suit. Medium wieght material, medium flare at the wrists and ankles. It fits perfect, had the nice ladies at square 2 in eloy measure me up. I also got velcro at the legs and wrists. I have yet to jump so I'll know more next monday. Drewfus McDoofus -
I use sports mode and infinite focus off the manual settings, shows up on mine as a little mountain. The one thing to watch out for is that in low light conditions the quality won't be that great, in my humble experience, with sports mode. Then I switch to normal, by bad light I mean either late in the day or if you are jumping under thicker clouds. Drewfus McDoofus

Suit with wings versus a freefly suit
airdrew20012001 replied to airdrew20012001's topic in Photography and Video
I just got my bran spanky new fire fly free fly suit yesterday and was wondering, from people's experience, which they prefer for doing tandems: a camera suit with wings or a freefly suit. I have been using a camera suit for about the last 100 video jumps or so, one of the guys I work with has only used a freefly suit. Any thoughts, feedback, or experience? Drewfus McDoofus -
Contrary to popular belief, kicking men in the jimmie is not the most advisable route. Basically will ust piss them off and give them enough lead time to hurt you. I advise punching in the throat. You take away their air they cannot hurt you. Then run. Drewfus McDoofus

I don't think you are being pushed away from the sport. Nobady wants to take your money and watch you kill yourself, that's all. I know I wouldn't want to see it. bad karma, ruins the whole day, messy too. Drewfus McDoofus

A friend of mine is pregnant and her and her husband asked me to look around and see what people knew about pregnancy and skydiving. They were specifically concerned about low oxygen during the ride up. Any words of wisdom or links I can pass along? Drewfus McDoofus
