  3. Sometimes I gotta share my "Snoopy Dance" moments with the class. I am the owner of a 42" Sony Rear Projection LCD HDTV, that I bought in Dec. 2005. I paid around 1800 for it at the time, which was a mid-priced tv. I noticed it developing a very slight green haze in the center of the tv, and incorrectly assumed that the lamp was failing. Since the lamp is a consumer friendly replacement part, I ordered another. 90 dollars and 2 weeks later, I of course find out that this is NOT the case. The new lamp does not correct the problem, and quite possibly exacerbates the issue. What does any red-blooded american do nowadays when we can't figure something out, you say? GOOGLE! I begin searching for other Sony customers that may have dealt with the same problem. Well, lo and behold, apparently alot of Sony's customers have had this issue. Turn's out, Sony had sold some 2 BILLION dollars of these types of Tv's over the years, and then quietly backed out of the rear projection lcd market. Long story a little shorter, due to a couple of class action lawsuits involving false advertising claims involving how long these tv's should last, and knowingly installing faulty color blocks, Sony set up an exchange program. I called Sony, on the off chance that my 6 year old t.v. might be covered under this plan. Sony promptly came back with offers to purchase one of three different tv's, at severely discounted prices. The t.v. I chose, A Sony Bravia KDL55EX710, is a 1700 dollar t.v. My price, 450.00, plus local state tax. Just under 500.00. So in recap, I got to use my 1800 dollar t.v. for 6 years, and I get a 1200 dollar credit towards a much bigger and better technology t.v., and I don't even have to give back the old one! The kid is gonna get that one till it bites the dust. What you say is reflective of your knowledge...HOW ya say it is reflective of your experience. Airtwardo Someone's going to be spanked! 19. Let's look at the verse: "One day He was teaching; and there were some Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was present for Him to perform healing. And some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in and to set him down in front of Him. But not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, into the middle of the crowd, in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith, He said, Friend, your sins are forgiven you. The scribes and the harisees began to reason, saying, Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?" (Luke 4:17-21, NASB, emphasis added) That man was forgiven based on his faith. Just like Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, or anyone else declared righteous by God prior to the attonement of Jesus Christ on the cross. That's what the "Passover" is all about. The blood of the innocent lamb as a "sin covering." Sacrifice of animals doesn't forgive sin. Only God can do that. It is "looking forward" to what would occur. It's the same reason God provided a ram substitute for Abraham. The ram was a type/shadow of Jesus Christ who was to come. One of my absolute favorite sections of scripture is Romans 3:23-26. It explains every man's condition before God and how those prior to Christ could be forgiven based on the sacrifice of Christ. I don't think so. The syntax of the previous verse lends itself to the fact that the faith of his friends is what led to his sins being forgiven, not his. 20. What RonD1120 is describing is pluralism/universalism. That is not what Jesus taught (John 14:6). I would say that Gandi was a very intelligent and "self" righteous man. That does not mean that he didn't do a lot of good (from our perspective). The problem is, unless Gandi appropriated the substitutionary sacrifice that Jesus made on behalf of "His" people through repentance and faith in Him, then his sins were not forgiven. He would have to give an account for them himself when he died. That's what I mean by self-righteous. It's not true righteousness which can only come God because only God is good. The issue is one of righteousness. Not whether or not he did a lot of good while he was here. The man on the mat in Luke 5:18 didn't "appropriate the substitutionary sacrifice that Jesus made on behalf of "His" people through repentance and faith in Him". He (the man on the mat) didn't do anything but be lowered through a roof. Further more Jesus doesn't say his sins will be forgiven, but that they are. Before the sacrifice.

  22. It's even more funny watching all the non-believers getting wadded up panties worrying about what others believe. You guys complain about people pushing "religion" on you and never realize that you are, by far and away, while pushing your anti-religion mantra, the most vocal and the most tiresome group of the two. "I don't want you to believe in (insert belief system of choice here) so I'm going to hammer you for all I'm worth!" I think if you really think about it harder, you'll probably retract that statement. The religious push has always far outweighed the other side. How many times during a normal day do you hear something about a religious group, church, political situation being effected by religion, etc.? More than you hear about agnostics or atheists I'm certain. He didn't say who you hear about, he said who you hear FROM. 25. I agree. I go back to a passage like John 14:6, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me." (an essential doctrine of the faith). The Apostles and earliest of Church Fathers all understood the exclusivity of that statment. It has obviously not been lost in English or any other translation. I agree, some passages have been left in obscurity and there are differences of opinion as to their exact translation and meaning from the original languages, however, those aren't anywhere near the majority and the overall theme of the bible (God's unfolding plan of salvation for His people) is clear. In that way, one of the characteristics of scripture is its perspecuity. To you, John 14:6 is and essential doctrine, while stoning an adulteress is not. That is picking and choosing.
