  1. Happy Birthday, dude! And a Happy New Year!
  2. Nice shots, Chris! I sure look sexy under that canopy. The shot of Jesse is also very nice. Keep up the great work! Tony

So what. As I said before it means nothing. It doesn't change my life one bit...Does it change yours?

The only other person I see stating he told them he was Don Cribbs posted after you Tom. I'm not saying he didn't tell someone that, you and he have your own differences to work out. What I said was the people posting their opinions had not been told that. Jason's statement about his profile may be factual. I never looked at his profile because I knew who it was. And I wouldn't have recognized the name anyway. I'm also not criticizing how the issue was handled, but fro people to say he can't be trusted or hope he's the next on the list is ridiculous coming from people who don't even have a clue what or who they are talking about. Nuf Said!

So, so... What a bunch of judgemental, hypocritical, attitudes we have here. I know BaseRigger personally and have made several jumps with him. He is a heads up, intelligent guy, and a rigger. I trust his decisions and would trust him with my gear. Have any of you EVER heard him say he is Don Cribbs? I think not! So you're basing your opinions on what some other person you don't know, with their own agenda's, said on the internet. As many have previously said, this is the internet not a place to learn BASE jumping or learn about people. I find it very difficult to weight anyone's opinions very highly. And when I see jabs back and forth between people I rarely get concerned about the conversation. So lighten up folks it doesn't mean anything. Quit trying to create what it means!
  6. I've got an Apex DP and I really like the details of it. The flap on the Gargoyle is also nice. I had a Vertex2 and there were a couple of things they improved on when they built the DP. One of those were the small triangular reinforced flaps that would never stay closed. The shape is also very nice. Another couple of things I like are the hidden three rings and dynamic corners. When it's layed out to pack it looks like a flat piece of material; nothing to stag or deflect the canopy as it comes off your back. Good luch with your efforts.

    170' freefall

It's been measured many times, many different ways. I use a laser.

    170' freefall

I was SL'ing it, but he did this jump 12 times in about a week had two off headings and got extremely lucky on one of those. He was looking for those two jumps to post. BTW, my SL canopy time was around 8-10 seconds. I'll post a couple of those for reference also.

    170' freefall

I got in touch with my friend and he ok'd me posting the video so here you go! The quality is not that great do to Utubes formatting, SkydivingMovies said "uploads unavailable". I'll put it up there when I can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MQPSbsmbAk
  10. C'mon Nick, you don't BASE jump...
  11. That sounds like a pretty good business plan. You could create a BASE vacation package where people could qualify for their BASE # in a weekend... What would that do to the quantity of BASE #'s being issued? It might even leave the student with slightly more appreciation for the sport. At least they would have a few different glimpses...
  12. So I told the guy at the bar "I was playing softball and the goalie got pissed and hit me in the leg with his raquet." He says "Yeah right." I said "OK, I jumped off a 250 foot bridge and ran out of altitude before I ran out of speed. Is that any easier to believe?"
  13. I've videod several exits in Moab of people with Blackjacks and tuned right it appears they were pretty much dead stop on opening until the brakes were popped. My Flik out distanced them all from the same object, however, there are still many variables including delay, heading, and intentions. The Flik tends to out distance most canopies on any given jump. I did have a rather bone breaking landing flying in rears recently though. So as Yuri mentioned it may be trimmed near the limit. However, I don't have a problem with it stalling unexpectedly using rears or toggles.

    170' freefall

I've seen a guy do it multiple times. He posts on here so maybe he'll chime in. He would stand on the exit point and throw his PC upward as he left the object. He did it about 12 times if I remember and had one off-heading. The canopy ride was about 5sec. I've got video and if I hear from him I'll post it somewhere. Tony

  17. What doesn't kill you makes stronger, right? My family and friends, hell pretty much everyone, have been asking me if I'm going to stop now. I tell them if I stepped on a roller skate getting out of my car should I stop driving, stop getting out of my car, what??? If I lost my leg to this incident, which is highly unlikely but still possible if I get the wrong type of infection, I'd be that much more motivated to jump again. It has caused some problems in my life, but it has also caused me to think about everything in a different light. It pulls you out of what you think and know and gets you into an area of investigation. Ity presents you with an opportunity to look at what it is you do and whether or not it fits your life. Not speaking to anyone specifically, but if you're drowning in sorrow over the consequences of what happened, take this opportunity to review the possibility of your life and make choices appropriate to where you feel you should be.
  18. Man what a spoiled little rich kid!
  19. My 3rd alarm went off on me the other day from a 300 footer and my body position went to hell when I started tumbling looking for my cutaway, but then I realized I sooo threw my PC as I left the rock and my body position didn't matter because I was already under my canopy. But I bet it looked pretty freakin' coool me twisting around under my canopy lookin for that stinken' handle, checkin my alti every few seconds, trying to pull my goggles off so I could see better, which I didn't even have on. What a jump that was, eh?
  20. Probably what you saw is the point at which they popped their brakes. Most canopies with a well tuned DBS seem to hang motionless until the brakes are popped. This has nothing to do with vented vs. non-vented. The inflation time you saw is due to the venting. A vented canopy tends to pop into shape almost instantly. A non-vented canopy actually looks like you say where it is taking a breath. I would expect this to be more so when the DBS is well tuned, because it wouldn't have the forward movement to help keep the wing pressurized. The vented canopy has two inlets for air so the forward movement isn't as necessary to keep the wing inflated.
  21. It's kind of funny. I don't intentionally reach for my risers, as a matter of fact I've been told I'm not quite quick enough to my risers, but every picture I have show my hands near my shoulders prior to opening. I've got to wonder if there is something else happening...
