  1. Not that it's on a person's body, but almost all bikers have a bell on their bikes called a guardian bell. DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.

  4. Don't look at me...I didn't vote for him Dude and what are we to do for the weekend. Every damn time I get a weekend off the weather blows. Fuck it lets go swim the river! DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  5. Or you just go the speed limit and not end up a burden to society. I work for the VA now so not a lot of ER work but when I worked at BAMC at Ft Sam Houston, TX most of the motorist involved in accidents were either speeding themselves or hit by a speeder. It’s basic physics. Force = Mass X Acceleration. Cars are fucking massive. It doesn't take much acceleration to get a ridiculous amount of force. 7. I have been testing out a navigational oriented laptop for HALO operations for a little over a year now. Initially the test units had HDs in them but as was expected, the altitude and the G loading caused an eventual HD failure and or problems. Once the SSDs were installed the problems went away. SSDs are expensive and not all that large in capacity but if you have a need for a HD that is durable and can survive harsh environments(other than a sealed and pressurized unit, which is too big anyways) the SSD is the current ticket. Like all tech, I expect that it will eventually get cheaper and capacity will increase as time goes on. Until then, for most people, there probably isn't a need for a SSD to justify the associated cost. Yeah but the HD in my laptop handled the Iraqi elements pretty well and I was pretty rough with it. So in the end this is the laptop I ended up with. Dell Studio 15 * Studio 1537, Intel Core 2 Duo P8400, 2.2GHz, 1066Mhz, 3M L2 Cache * 4GB, DDR2, 800MHz 2 Dimm * Back-lit Keyboard * Hi Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch display (1920x1200) * 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 * 500G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive * 8X Slot Load CD / DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive) * Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced HD Software Edition * Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11AGNHalf Mini Card * 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery * Windows Vista Premium System * Integrated Finger Print Reader * Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module (2.0) I'm not into gaming so this should work for me. All said and done I paid 1,300 for it and got a backpack added to it for me. DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  8. Yeah I could but I figure she's had a good run. The new Dell is a pretty good deal and I've always been happy with their quality. Plus the new one has a bunch of options that the old one doesn't. DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  9. Oh shit... I did, screw that. I'll stick with the 500 gig. Thanks. Nope not a Sony it's a Dell. My desktop crapped out on me and my 5 year old laptop doesn't like the new battery i bought for it so I figured I'd sell everything off and just go with a laptop with a larger hard drive. I'm also getting a usb modem through my cell phone service. My dad just did this and has a router it plugs into for the house, but takes it everywhere with him. Finally I can surf the net at the DZ!!!! Look out porn sites here I come! ps. forgot to add but I think the whole thing about laptops being fragile is bs. The laptop I have is a 5 year old Dell that spent a year in Iraq with me. I've dropped it tons of times. I've opened it a couple of times to upgrade the ram and the inside was very clean, no sand. In fact my laptop is proabably the only thing that I came back with that wasn't loaded with sand. It still runs great. The only problem with it is the battery issue which is fixable. I'm just getting rid of it because if I'm getting rid of my desktop I'll need something that can hold more. It's only 30 gig and since I have over 60 gig on the old iPod... Well lets just say I think we're gonna need a bigger boat. DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  10. So I ordered a new laptop and I noticed after I ordered that some of the laptops come with a solid state hard drive. I must admit that I am usually behind the times when it comes to this stuff. The laptop I ordered came with a 500 GB (normal) Hard Drive. There was an option for a 640 GB solid state hard drive. My question is, does anyone have experience with these? What do you think of them? Note I am not talking about external hard drives but internal ones. DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  11. ^^^^ That's it Hobie! You’re on my next bar fight jump and I am taking you out buddy! Seriously though That's what I was thinking too. Reaching up as opposed to reaching out. Not that I know anything but its just what struck a cord with me. I think there was a little confusion about it, good post Doc. To the OP: Some people just get it faster than others. Relax this is fun right? Take some time and from working on technical jumps and just have some fun. DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  12. I'm trying to find a photo of the funny sticker that comes on the back of the sky system helmets. I'm trying to show a buddy one but I lost the picture of mine and it's no longer on my helmet. If you have one post it please. Thanks! DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  13. I'll see you and your bike at the toy run this weekend. DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  14. 1/2:7:2 first night jump and first multi plane rw jump Not the largest i've been on (only an 8-way) but everyone got the first point and had to break on our way to the second. All Cessna KS boogie was all good! (but what happened to all the naked jumps we talked about???) DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.

  16. Yeah I saw your thread on opening doors. I always turn away from the door when I open it. Hell I do the same if anyone opens it. DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  17. I hate take off and I hate jump run. We are a 182 DZ so it's small and I want to get the hell out of that plane. The door opening still bugs me. Not really sure why on that. I hate, hate, hate final adjustments on jump run. I could care less I just want to get outside. Once I'm in the door, v, or on the strut I am completly cool and calm. It was kinda the same way when I did my snow/naked jump. When we opend the door I was freezing. Once out on the strut I didn't notice the cold. It was just another skydive. 18. I'd still like to know what caused it. This will probably never be solved though. The other TI was watching when this drogue was packed. I don't remember the s folds being too long but who knows... DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.

  20. Well there is the reason it may have worked better than the DCU. Typically, the woodland BDU is what is the most effective in the Northern parts. Thats more of knowing your operational environment and adjusting accordingly. Pockets , ass blow outs, you name it, the ACU has all those issues. That picture of the guy on the couch is about the only place the ACU pattern blends into. Yeah I know I laughed at that too. Actually the ACU was perfect for where I was. We were a mix of desert and grass although the winters were far more green. The pockets will always suck. There are other things too though. Anytime you walk near anything Velcro you have to watch all your patches because you will more than likely loose one and IMO the zipper is far more uncomfortable than buttons under armor. I digress though. I could really go on all day with what I think sucks on them. I do like the new 7 piece jacket system though. I haven't been issued a set but I have seen them in use and I think it's a much better system, seeing as people can tailor their level of warmth and still appear to stay uniform. 21. Where's your rig? Put a little more weight in the milk crate, and you could ride a wheelie the whole way! Martin Rig? Who needs a rig? I got someone taking that for me. DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  22. What have the complaints been? Design, durability? I agree with Matt, above - the multicam pattern DOES seem to be a LOT better at blending in. Wow, that was a quick decision...wasn't it just a couple years ago that the Army decided to go to the ACU? I disagree a little with Lou on this one. To me it wasn’t so much that the camo didn’t work. In fact I thought that ACUs worked better than our DCUs. That being said I was up in the Northern portion of Iraq; Mosul to be exact. Our main problem (like most of Lou’s post) was durability. About half way during my deployment I was issued 2 sets of the ACU uniforms and neither of them lasted 2 months. Both had ass to crotch blow outs. I just went back to wearing ACUs. Now that I am back state side it is mandatory that everyone wears the ACU uniform. All the pockets (except the ass ones) are Velcro and they suck big time. I spent 2 weeks in Salt Lake City (up in the mountains) in the middle of the winter and ended up destroying my Velcro. Now I can’t put a damn thing in my pockets because my pockets won’t stay shut. It doesn’t matter when I’m in garrison because I have no need for pockets but the field sucks because anything I put in there will fall out. ~El Josh AKA Ruby or SGT Seery DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  23. Um and who do you think Chuck would fight for? I'm guessing you haven't seen Invasion U.S.A. or M.I.A. 1-3. On top of that I serve in our armed forces so we'll win hands down. ~El Josh AKA Ruby DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
  24. Yeah but then all the loser sucky kids will know that they suck and in the world of everyone is a winner we just can't have this. So instead of telling the kids that they suck punish this kid for being "Too Good" It’s all the modern movement of our country to strive toward mediocrity. ~El Josh AKA Ruby DS #149 Yes I only have 3 jumps...it's the magic number dude.
