  1. I have made several and unfortunately I have used them as well. I have done a total of 4 ashes jumps and all with my bags and all successfully. The basic construction is very simple, I made it from 2 seperate peices of cordura approx 12 inches by 12 inches squared With the bottom and 2/3 of the sides sewed together. The other 1/3 of the sides and top of the bag is velcro (2 inch) for security I then put 3 handles on the bag one on the bottom and 1 on either side on the top of the bag. One is for me and the other is for the other person releasing the ashes. The trick is to fold the bag in 1/2 and have the bottom handle and the top at the same time with your hand you plan on presenting, once the other person flies up and docks on you he then uses his out side hand to grab his handle which you present to him. Whenever you are ready with a firm dock, use your outside hand to secure your top handle which you release with your presentation hand, use the outside hands in the loops to pull apart and fooom! It is an amazing site which can easily be seen from the ground even from 10,000 ft. On a calm day the ashes can be seen for up to 10 minutes after as a soft cloud.

  6. Yeah, it was for the show, I don't know when it is going to air but when it does I will post the info. He was wearing an altimeter it is on his left wrist. We have 5 or 6 student rigs for our internal AFF courses we run for the team or celebrities. We have administrative personnel and aircraft crewchiefs that are not jumpers so we try and run an AFF course about two times a year to get them qualified. It is kind of a reward type tool since they are all so good at their jobs and it also helps us. When you work with and deal with skydiving every day it helps if the administrative personnel have an idea about what it is we do and what better way than to walk the walk. We produce some pretty amazing students. The last female we graduated on her level 7 she did a L-360, R-360, backloop, L-360, R-360, frontloop, tracked for 6 seconds and then still had time to get together and do two way w/ 360's "Dropzone.com, where uneducated people measuring penises, has become an art form"
  7. Sounds good to me, I will be looking forward to it! We did have him in the tunnel for a few minutes, but he is just the kind of guy you tell to do something once and he does it perfectly, he is a natural at everything......wait a minute I hate people like that (just kidding) "Dropzone.com, where uneducated people measuring penises, has become an art form"

  10. Flowers delivered to her work is definately a cool idea. Breakfast in bed is also cool if you can manage not to wake her. But most importantly if you manage to stay up past midnight or if you are the first to wake up give her a kiss and tell her Happy anniversary first thing in the morning. Congrats! 11. Hunter Ellis from the History channels Tactical to Practical television show did his first AFF jump today with members of the Golden Knights. The jump, originally planned for yesterday, was interrupted due to bad weather. Hunter gladly changed his flight plans and waited out the high winds until today. The jump went so smoothly the instructors gave no hand and arm signals whatsoever. Immediately after the jump since time and weather were on their side the instructors offered Hunter the opportunity to jump again and without hesitation he lept at the chance. (no pun intended) The second dive went as effortless as the first for the instructors and both jumps were finished off with perfect landings. Hunter, A retired F-18 pilot and adventurist, said that it was without a doubt the most exhilarating thing he had ever done. His instructors were SFC Ken (KB) Brown and SFC Kurt Isenbarger. SGT Dave Wherley, SSG Bryan Schnell and SFC Greg Windmiller were the videographers. The next AFF student on the agenda for the Golden Knights Tandem team is former President George Bush at his library in College Station, TX on the 13th of June. This will be his 3rd AFF jump and it is in celebration of his 80th birthday. I am attempting to attach some photos, but the conspirators who invented the computers are working with the the trolls against me! Stupid technology! 12. 2 pukers - both on the ground after landing thank god! 2 side spins - Got out of both without having to throw the drogue. 2 people pass out - One woke up at about 1,500 ft. and one I made intentionally pass out. ...for safety reasons. He acted completely fine, then after exiting, he completely freaked out and began working me like a $2 hooker on pay day. I decided that he and I both had enough and at 7,000ft. I opened the main. After opening he began screaming to get him down and demanded that it be "right f**king now" He continiously kept grabbing over his shoulders and trying to grab me cursing me the entire time, and in the process he kept grabbing towards the cutaway and reserve handles only to have me block him with my fore arms. I then made the decision to grab his chest strap and crank it down. I then began spiriling like a fiend until he finally went limp. After a less than stellar landing where we both slid in on my arse, He woke up to ask what had happened. I told him he was kicking and screaming with joy and that he loved every minute of it and that blacking out was due to all the excitement he was experiencing. The video went hand in hand with the story so he went away another satisfied customer, stating, "I don't think I will ever do it again though". 14. Don't tell anyone, but I concur with Skymonkey One! I believe it is the best technique to use with the Sigma mains as well as the EZ series. It also allows the ability to set up an accuracy type approach and gaurantee that you will be able to land in a specific area. The 90 degree or more turn in doesn't always allow this and with the sigma mains there is the possibility of oscellation. With this approach it basicly takes out several factors that may come up unexpected such as wind gusts, turbulence or thermals. They still affect the landing but not to the extent that a turning in approach would have. The turning in technique (some people call it hook turn) also puts some considerable centrifical force on the passengers legs that makes it harder for them to lift their legs that the accuracy approach technique doesn't. as long as it is under 500 lbs. and the conditions aren't too bad there is no reason an instructor can't stand up "almost" all tandems. Murphy of course is always out there. The % of standups are around +90% with this technique. "Dropzone.com, where uneducated people measuring penises, has become an art form"
  15. What up Aggie Dave, Unfortunately they are both at fault. First the student for lying on the legal binding document and the instructor for not verifying this. Like I started out...."Unfortunately", we also must verify that they are not lying about their age by checking some form of ID, With that same token we should verify the weight by weighing them on a scale if they even appear close. If you have a large group then the politically correct way to do it is weigh everyone as to not single out one individual. We check every student by weighing them prior to the class being given this way you will not get the students hopes up only to dash them at the last second. It may sound cruel to some, but we tell them that we need specific weights for certain reasons: #1 To pair them up with an instructor that is simular in build. #2 So that we may keep detailed records of information for tracking the wear and tear on the system. #3 For legal reasons as to not violate the weight limitations of the system. It has saved us on numerous occasions from violating the limits, If explained tactfully then the student will not only understand, but will also agree with you when you tell them "I'm sorry". Sure they will be disappointed but it will also encourage them some of the time to loose weight and try again another time. I have had students return stating "remember me? I was here before and now that I have lost weight I am back to do my tandem". AD We will see you guys soon and when the time comes ...........Its party on! I still owe Beer! Shiner Bok if I remember correctly? "Dropzone.com, where uneducated people measuring penises, has become an art form"
  16. Not bad, I liked it! (if you are open to constructive criticism the here goes) The beginning Name and Phone # went by pretty quick, think about giving them time to read it, but I liked what you did by putting it at the end again. Thats good business sense to constantly promote the DZ. If you have more footage of tandems to add onto it that would make it a little longer, but not make it too long, you don't want the leader to be longer than the actual jump or the student feels ripped off. I like a leader to be between 3 and 4 minutes. Does your DZ do AFF's and do you video them too, if so then maybe a quick clip of one. Another suggestion would be at the end have something like "and now your jump or your skydive". and then a fade to black or to the jump. All in all good job on it, I liked it and good luck. 17. I can honestly say "yes" I am over the recommended limit on my personal reserve, however I accept responsibility for this fact, only because I don't have an individual strapped on the front of me. It would be the same as if putting a first time AFF student out with a reserve too small for them in his or her container. The tandem student (the quote so many people abuse is) did in fact sign the waiver, however not only is it a max limit but violating it also violates the manufacturers recommendations and standards. The RWS spends somewhere around $150,000.00 every year just defending the waiver. If you knowingly violate their guidlines and standards then how willing do you think they will be in helping defend a TM using their gear. Remember, The student signed the waiver to enjoy the thrill of skydiving not the opporitunity for someone to be negligent or even grossly negligent! Soapbox complete
  18. My personal limit is legally 250. Not to exceed 500lbs. (reserve max suspended weight) Heaviest person was 270 The tallest was 7'2" "Dropzone.com, where uneducated people measuring penises, has become an art form"
  19. I recently bought a Epson stylus Photo R300. I have used alot of photo printers and it is without a doubt the best printer for every job it even comes with a CD attachment to burn photos onto CD's.It also has 3 different card reader slots so you can take almost any memory card and print the pictures without having a computer. (It has a seperate mini monitor to view the pictures if you want) Smart buy and excellent printer! "Dropzone.com, where uneducated people measuring penises, has become an art form"
  20. If anyone ever again asks me again, what was my most memorable jump, I now know what to say! Jumping the American flag to be given to Pauls daughter was not only an honor that I feel so unworthy of, but also one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. If I knew that I would have 1/100th of the friends that Paul had to celebrate my life when I pass then I could go tomorrow a happy man and satisfied with my life. "Dropzone.com, where uneducated people measuring penises, has become an art form"
  21. Good job Gimp, I could only dream of having as many friends celebrate my life as there were for paul! It was done in true fashion and the way he would have wanted it. "Dropzone.com, where uneducated people measuring penises, has become an art form"
  22. The single most important part of the of the tandem is the students safety and to ensure this a good exit with a good drogue throw is important. I hear far too often the phrase "exit, gain stability, and throw the drogue". Some Tandem instructors are loosing sight. It should be exit with stability and deploy the drogue. I believe flips are a part of the excitement for a passenger but only if the passenger is going for his or her second or more tandem. 1/10th of the time a passenger doesn't have a clue if they did a flip on exit anyway. I also believe that hanging on to the outside of the A/C back flips in which the instructors container is exposed to the relative wind for more than 2-3 seconds or longer should be outlawed, there is just too much of a chance that the drogue will come out prematurely, if you don't think so then believe it! It has happened. Flips are fine, but remember, when you add another degree of difficulty to the tandem you are also asking for another problem to arise. It is simple cause and effect. You had better be ready to accept the effect when you choose the cause. Just because your student watched the video and signed the waiver doesn't mean you can be "negligent or even grossly negligent" Soap box complete....Sorry!
