"I thought we reduced this risk in the late 1970s with Velcro risers keeper straps. Then Velcro riser covers were introduced in the early 1980s. Finally, tuck tab riser covers were introduced in the late 1980s" If the reserve is open or opening the reserve risers will also open the tuck tab riser covers. Most likely the set in the three rings will keep them from coming lose, but I'm also considering relative workshops recommendation for tandem masters to not cut if the release has not been made. Just because of the risk for the main risers entangling. And as someone else posted, if you cant reach the entangling main it could be an even bigger problem than if they are both still attached.
-
What would you do if you have a pilot chute in tow? The normal procedure I believe is to cut away first, but the risk of having the main risers or coming loose and interfering with the reserve could be potentially very dangerous. If the main is released from the three rings, chances are you will not be able to reach it. What would you do and why? This poll was made after reading the post main/reserve entanglement in the Incident forum.

That vectran lines become black and look pretty worn quickly is normal. You can still use them as long as not a lot of fibers are broken. The black would be mostly oxide from the grommets.

Sounds like a big job to get that fixed. How many jumps does the canopy have? Might not be worth it to have someone change the entire top of the cell/s.
-
I'm pretty sure they are referring to a bungy collapsible pc. They work well when they are correctly calibrated but after hundreds of jumps both the bungy cord changes elasticity and if the fabric also changes drag it might not work properly. Usually you would be able to fix it but that requires someone knowlegable(sp?) to do correctly.
-
They are frequently available, think you might have confused it with F-111 bungee pc's.

The bag with the bridle are traveling away from the canopy. Think about the snatch force when the canopy is at line stretch, the canopy is pulled away from the bag. There is a line connecting the bag to the canopy that stops the bag from going even further towards the pc. René

Cool, I live in Sweden, if I go to Portugal I will contact you, Thanks René

Does anyone know how the H-mod for the Cobalt canopy is done. I understand that it can be done by a senior rigger. Either a description or a contact to a rigger who has done it would be appreciated. René

I would change them to hard housing. It's easy to do on a Javelin, not too expensive either. Maybe US$ 35-45. René

Best money spent, Basic Camp with Gary and Solly (among others) Tandem and rigging pay back and are fun. Training in Deland and the tunnel was great fun. What was not so good was making hundreds of jumps without weights arching so hard I could barely fly. Years ago. René

There is a new Talon FS in the Paragear catalog. Has anyone seen it live, what is it like? I found no info on their website. René
-
I have had mine attached with a soft link on my Javelin. And have had so for the last couple of hundred jumps. Seems to be working without any problems. René

Don't know about allergic reactions but you can ask a rigger to spray your rubber bands with silicone. Makes them less dry and they last longer also.

Look almost in the end of the catalog, there is a canopy comparison chart. In my catalog it's page 234. They also thank Sandy Reid (from Rigging Innovations) I figure he provided some information.
-
But the PD reserves are actually bigger than what their name indicates. According to the chart in the paragear catalog the PD126R is 137. Their information is from PIA and some of it from the manufacturers, so they can't all be compared but it's an indication.

Thanks for the answer, With the shared solution do you mean that both front and back piece know the nonrepeating parts of the blocks? In that case it will be really time consuming to get there. What I also wonder is why your team for example have the slot switch in blocks 13 and 16 in the rear piece instead of having them all in the front piece. Then if another nonrepeating block comes up in the dive it will switch back. Otherwise all 4 will be in their B slots, more confusing. I do like the idea of sharing the brainwork, that's why I am considering having a new plan. For a new team. I'm just not sure if it is worth changing from having all the nonrepeating blocks in the front to some other solution. René

What are the pros and cons of the different continuity plans that the top teams use? I have been using basically the same as Majik does with all the memory in the front piece. I understand the logic of having a slot switch switch back if there are two slotswitching blocks in the dive. What are the advantages of doing it the french way? Or the airspeed or the Golden Knights way? Anyone with any insight? René

If you like being around people who speak swedish, you could also see if Niklas Hemlin (swede)or Thorstein (norwegian) are available. René
-
I wouldn't jump the rig if there was the slightest risk of that happening again. Not to long ago a jumper in Sweden was hanging lifeless under canopy and from what I heard the probable cause of death was what happened to you. His neck had suffered severe trauma.(from underneath the chin) René

Glad you didn't break anything. My reflection is that, even if it has nothing to do with this incident, close to the ground I would prefer smooth input. That is I'd rather let the risers up gradually but start earlier. René

Try wearing a T-shirt or a sweater on top of your jumpsuit. If others are having problems also, ask the base people to fall faster. René
-
You can have a rigger change it, I use a 22" on my Javelin with a Stilletto 120. ZP pilot chute with large hole mesh, works fine. René
-
Permeability is supposed to be tested on PD reserves (by PD) after 25 jumps or 40 repacks. Or if the canopy has been completely submerged in water. René

Has anyone seen or jumped the new G4? What do you think about it? It seems like an improvement on an already good rigg as far as I can tell, Is there anything that isn't good? René
