  1. Problem is that with OIS something is moving in the camera. Due to the mass of this part it will only work for a certain (low) frequency. Higher level vibration will shake this mass unless this mass is suspended with a stiff frame. remember that we are using these cameras in an environment much more demanding than where they are designed for, temperature, moist and vibration wise Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . 3. That totally depends on how you fly (quite a few backflyers at our DZ) and your workflow (I usually have 15 minutes sometimes less to edit and burn a DVD on my pc/laptop, can´t yet do that with AVCHD, one camera flyer here does jump a CX6 but he only uses the composite so for him it doesn´t matter if it´s tape or AVCHD). For more than half of our local tandem camera flyers a CX6-7-11-12 is no good at all, so don´t see why you´d label it the current best choice for tandems. How do you edit and burn a DVD in 15minutes if you have to firewire the jump to the laptop first. Is the passenger specific footage only a couple of minutes? 4. Thinking to buy a camera from the sony A-series primary for non-skydiving activities, but it would be nice to jump with it to. Someone some freefall experiens with this series of photocameras. I prefer this series, because that allows me to use my minolta lenses and flash, from which I have a couple Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . 5. Most european systems release the droque once you cut-away. This sysem also when you look careful You are right a droque release only might have solved this issue or at least make the change for an entanglement smaller Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . 6. HC5 is already somewhat better (HDV framegrabs) but not very good quality. I mail the passengers a couple of framegraps as bonus when they buy the handcam (You can use the framegrabs very well for silly pictures as you can see here left) Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . 12. No, but be aware that once your shoulder has been dislocated once it is very likely to happen a second time. Especially in freefall which is a very unnatural position for your arms. Please consult a doctor (preferaly a skydiving doctor) before entering a jump plane again. Sorry I have to tell you that 2 of my fellow skydivers were forced to give up the sport because of this. I had a tandempassenger 1 month ago who had his shoulder dislocated in freefall. He already had his shoulder dislocated 2 times this year in other non-skydiving activities and his doctor told him it was ok to do a tandem (doctors in general know very little about skydiving) Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . 18. I do not agree completely, I have a small photobook located at the manifest desk with 4x6inch prints from my HC5 (+waycool lens) On a regular base I get passengers who did not book video, saw the photos and asked to jump with me because they want these photos too. (Not all TM's jump with handcam at my DZ) I always tell them not to print larger than 4x6in as it is a videocamera. I make the photos in pinnacle studio12 direct from the HDV footage. Not by pressing the photo button during playing the video I Agree that the limiting factor is the low quality lens, but I do not want a big lens on my hand. The deal is I sell the video/DVD and throw in a couple of photos for free or a couple of euros. Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . Also in case you jump a sport rig!!!
  19. Hand cam does not get stills, so less value. We also are motivated to do hand cam as opposed to outside. We're a two man operation, jumping a 182. So, 7 jumps a day with hand cam is 14 tandems with video. 7 with outside is 7 tandems. We charge $50 for hand cam, $85 for outside vid/stills. Martin High Definition camera's have 1900x1080pixels for every frame. This can be printed in 4x6inch in a rather good quality Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . 20. Of course it's a safety issue for all involved in the jump, but only the video guy needs to watch out for it. On a sigma, if the drogue fails to collapse when the drogue is released, you'll get a hard opening. It collapses first to avoid that. I don't know why a strong opening would be more comfortable, but I've never jumped one from the front or the back. Dave Off-topic: The opening perhaps, not the rig! 21. When you decide to keep the metal handle because of the reasons above. One advice, stay with the handle because you have a better feeling about it. Personnaly I have a different preference. There is no absolute correct and wrong, no black and white, this issue moer differnt grades of gray (Remark: Pull your reserve with your right hand only also work) Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . 24. I got 2 pillows on a student rig. I used them in wrong order... For a student I can imagine the confusion, and I do not support this for students! For myself I'm not really afraid. Already got some muscle-memmory training for this procedure (I got a couple of break-aways). Some years ago I had a static-line student almost pulling that nice silver handle on my previous rig during climb-out. Not funny!! Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . 25. My (german) DZ requires 300jumps +100videojumps before you are allowed to start learning tandemvideo. We also do handcam, only TM's with 500+ tandems are allowed to do this Tandemvideo might look not complex but a mistake you make might injure a TM or pax. Yes, I've seen some troube from the TM point of view, collisions on exit, flying in my burble or below me, and the best action a screen filling image of a deploying tandemcanopy (using a wideangle lens), to be honest only 3 cellls were required to fill the screen. Only a couple of inches away from a serious collision. Just because it is on youtube does not mean the quality is acceptable! So yes I concur with dragon2/saskia and azureriders Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habid. . . Also in case you jump a sport rig!!!
