  1. i'm flattered that I am so popular here. I'm quite content with being hated here. That way I dont go ignored. My simple little post spawned so many replies. pennywise said it best "a body in the street is free publicity" Theonlyski might be new but he is living proof that jump numbers dont make you intelligent. Him and a couple others are the only ones that have made any sense here. Cspence I hope I never see you face to face. For I fear the anger of your irrational misplaced thought process might over pressurize your skull. Thus resulting in one cataclysmic synapsial malfunction which would then explode your head. I would hate to get any on me. how about instead of saying something to your face about your mom. I will just say something about your face to your mom the next time I spend the night with her. OUTLAW FIELD 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  2. yes you are mistaking about the chicken jump. As usual your statements are built on rumors and half truths. I simply wanted people in the north tn and nashville area to know we are open. I wasnt implying that every DZ in the world was closed for the winter. As usual my words were twisted and taking way out of context. But the DZ's closest to nashville are closed. I was under the impression that Tullahoma is closed for winter and i know for a fact that russellville is. Tn is a long state if you want to drive to the end of it to jump then fine. If you want to drive to indiana fine. if you want to drive to canada fine. But for the Nashville area we are the closet open DZ and we are flying a turbine. I certainly didnt stick my foot in my mouth. It was removed from my ankle by force and then shoved in my mouth by some peoples blatant misinterpretation and manipulation of my post. I never said we were the only DZ north of alabama that was open. I would actually like to revise my post. Here is the new version. anyone in the Nashville area that is looking for close and open DZ WITH A TURBINE! should check out Outlaw field in Clarksville, Tn. If your username is Cspencefly, billyvance, lauraliscious, Iago, chaoskitty, Mklady, jumpdude, or bolas then please ignore this post we are closed and it doesnt apply to you. and.........suck it! ...............and your momma! I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  3. old? and DB Cooper? or maybe moses? I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  4. hmmm????????? its also the places to jump forum in case your reading comprehension skills are lacking. Since most DZ's are closed in the area and since they originally announced they would be closed I felt it relevant to this forum. Why would it bother you anyway? ignore it if it doesnt apply to you. what are you 12 yrs old? Also your reply has nothing to do with events or places to jump so I believe yours is much less applicable and relevant than mine. YOur reply was not neccessary I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  5. well I dont control that. I was just letting it be known because most DZ's in that area are closed for the winter. If you dont want to come thats fine. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  6. wel I pick skydiving over rapping any day. Of course you could potentially make way more money rapping but only if you are good. I dont have any musical talent so I chose AFF. Also most rap music is pretty stupid. well I have to peace out now cause im going to go kick it at my homeboys hizzy. We are just going to chill and maybe mack some shawties and drank some fawties. Stay krunk! I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  7. after the parachute opens i typically land it. Unless it malfunctions then I land a different one. So basically what you want to do is land the parachute after it opens. I know its complicated but you guys will figure it out. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  8. The dropzone in Clarksville Tn., Which is just north of Nashville, is open weekends throughout the winter. It was 33 degrees on the ground this weekend and they were flying caravan loads. These guys are dedicated and honestly I dont think the staff really has anything else to do and possibly no other marketable skills. So i guess they might as well be jumping. Anyway if you are looking to stay current or need a fix and you are in the Tn/Ky area. Check out Outlaw field in Clarksville, Tn. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  9. airplane accidents are a normal part of this sport. No one is caling them out on having a accident. The fact that the plane wasnt even close to being maintained by federal standards is a issue. No annual since 2003? NO 100 hr? Come on! those issues werent just overlooked. That is blatant disregard for the lives of your customers. If that engine loss would have happened at a different time, under other circumstances, resulting in the loss of life, it would be nothing short of manslaughter. By the sound of your post I guess you think its acceptable? Ok I think that someone driving a couple of hours farther to get on a better maintained aircraft is acceptable. Not to mention the fact that it speaks volumes for thier safety concerns. I mean if they didnt maintain something like a airplane which is governed by FEDERAL LAW. God knows how they maintained thier gear. Funny that they are so worried with the law now concerning advertising but werent concerned with the laws governing aviation. Seems an odd order of priorities. Sick burn on them I guess. If they had been they would still be in business. And lets not forget that the number is for a dropzone near Nashville...so whats the fraud again? I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  10. I jump 330's al the time. Of course I weigh 145 lbs. I find it the best performing size for the average load. think about it......with a little girl on front I might only load that at .9. Are you telling me that I need to be on a 360 because my 330 is too small? I strongly disagree. Also when I jumped 400's I experienced alot of tension knots when lightly loaded. Since Ive been on smaller canopies not a single tension knot. long story short 5 cutaways on 400's.......0 cutaways on 330's about the same amount of jumps on both sizes. Maybe its just random but it sure is a scewed number. Last time I checked malfunctions are more dangerous than no malfunctions. So I believe for me the smaller 330 canopy might be safer than the 400. Regardless, I think you need to worry about what is best for you and not try to force your opinion on the rest of the community. Technology improves and skil levels improve. Thats how progession in the sport takes place. I personally like freedom. Freedom to fly whatever canopy I think is best for me and my student. Regulation is not the answer. Education is the answer. If you like regulations so much move to a communist country. So sick of people trying hold skydiving back or regulate it under the facade of safety. I can take responsibility for my own actions I dont need you or the USPA to do it for me. If you wont skydiving to be butterflies, daisies, marshmallows, and perfectly safe.......then find a new sport. Try putting on football pads and spend your time in the wind tunnel, cause thats the only safe way to be anywhere close to skydiving. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  11. hAHA we have so much fun! Can't wait till I get out to UTAH one day. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  12. wow I had trouble following that. Carving on front riser? Or do You mean you carve on rear risers too long and fear you will stall it? What would a bad wind be for this habit? And when is the right time to stall a canopy? At what altitude are you doing this? on landing? i'm confused because if you are on your fronts you are obviously doing this with some altitude. that would be called a hook turn though not carving on fronts. And it certainly in no way would be used to give "breathing room". How exactly do you mean carving on risers gives you breathing room? In what sense? Obviously this is something that has to be seen to understand properly so dont bother trying to explain it in text. Also I really dont care anymore. Not to mention its off topic sick burn I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  13. actually quite funny...my profound ignorance is exactly why I asked if and what lisence a DJ needs to play the music. I wasnt trying to be a smart ass or make a point. It was a serious question. secondly, like I said I'm not trying to argue the law. I know the law is the law. And i'm not trying to say "fuck you" in anyway. I'm simply trying to find out if anything is being done about it, what propositions have been put out there (if any), and start a heated debate with DSE because its fun. There are lots of things about the law that dont make sense, yet its still the law. In the laws eyes it might be different but we alll know that kids blaring music in a parking lot makes no more difference than a low quality version of a incomplete song on youtube. The only difference is one is very annoying. I guess it really comes down to the definition of a "copy". I personally dont think that a incomplete low quality youtube version qualifies as a true "copy". Its not like anyone is going to steal the song from a youtube video when you can buy the real thing for a buck from Itunes. Basically I dont see how it really takes away an artists right to control copies. It might be the law right now but that is a stupid argument. Who records music from youtube videos? Like i said all it really does is give the song more exposure. Its a far cry from bootlegging copies and selling them on the corner. Once again it seems a really petty way to use copyright laws. I'm glad you agree they need to change and think they will. Thats pretty much the only point I was trying to make. I'm not arguing what the law is I'm simply debating as to why anyone would want to use the law to go after some average joe with a 1 minute video on youtube. The scope of this issue has outgrown the parameters and reasonableness of the existing laws. good point about the wedding video. Another knit picky insignificant case of "copy" right. WHat about this? If they crack down on all these youtube "pirates" How will it apply to pirate type animals like parrots? example: say a parrot sings a bon jovi song, and someone records it and puts it on youtube. Is the parrot at fault for knowingly singing the song on video? Or is the person that videoed it at fault? then what if someone stole the footage and put it on youtube. Are you still at fault because you recorded it, even though you didnt post it on youtube? In the end will bon jovi or the label sue you and take ownership of the parrot? real question here HOw about if say a TV show has a guest on with a singing parrot. Do they have to get permission from the artist to sing that song like a person would? What would happen if the parrot changed its mind and sang another song instead? Would the parrot be put down? What about the guy that post the youtube email here? No one answered that. Is he illegal for making a copy and reposting it? I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  14. turn the sound off on a skydiving video and watch it. Then turn the video off and only listen to the sound. Then tell me which one was more important. Still think audio is %70 of the piece? I cant believe anyone would think so for a skydiving video. If yo want to listen to a minute of wind noise then be my guest. Or would you rather quietly watch the skydive? secondly, your comparison to using my rig and wearing it out is nowhere near the same thing as using someones music on a video. That comparison is more absurd then my disneyland comparison. I wont even waste my time explaining why. I'm not arguing what the law is. THE law is the law. But your explanations and defenses of it sound asinine and snobish. Now you are saying that record lables and artist dont wont thier songs on youtube because "overplay" will devalue thier song? WOW! Something else that devalues a song is NO ONE BUYING IT! I cant believe you would say that youtube videos are devaluing the music by giving it too much exposure. So what can we do as individuals to make sure that the cry babies in this industry stay perfectly happy. Should we buy the songs or not? Or should we buy them but not listen to them? Or should we buy them but only listen to them when no one else can hear it then advertise for the artist and label by word of mouth by telling people how good a song is, but you have to buy it to hear it...sorry its the law. Is this really the direction we want it to go? I dont think these statements are neccessarily off topic. Just because I disagree with a moderators opinion and justifications, doesnt mean i'm off topic. The title of this thread is about ethics, honesty, and legality. These statements are based off my opinions not the law. However, the law is based off opinions. Unfortuneatly its based off the opinions of the people with the biggest lobby force and the most money. No matter how ridiculous it might be. SOmeone mentioned to me this weekend that as times change that copyright laws need to adapt and change with them. I couldnt agree more. I think its stubborn and childish for the music industry to try to hold out on these laws while communication and technolgy evolve so rapidly. Maybe they should be willing to change thier opinion to suit the needs of the masses. Whats wrong with the idea of a affordable limited use liscense for popular music? Or better yet a alteration of the public domain laws. I just dont see whats wrong or damgaing about using a song on a personal video that is making no money. Then for tandem videos a limited use license. Here is a question for someone who knows. What kind of license does a DJ have for playing music at parties? Are the nazi music police going to start busting kids in a parking lot for playing thier music so that other kids can hear it. Afterall they only purchased a license to listen to the music, not to let others hear it. God forbid we dont want those songs devalued by playing them too much in public. I will tell you what will devalue music........answers and attitudes like this. "You are free to make your own music " Maybe everyone will, then there wont be a need for labels or anyone that makes a living in the music industry. Then how important will these people think they are? Was this post off the topic of "copyrighted music- staying ethical, honest, and legal" I dont think so....I would call it a honest opinion of the ethics that drive copyright legalities. Now i'm off to download some crappy expensive royalty free junk and make some killer loops on my keyboard. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  15. I have to say audio is a huge part of most video, but I'm not sure I would say that music is %70 of the video. Second It sounds like everything on Youtube is illegal. As a matter of fact am I illegal right now for mentioning youtube without written permission. What about the guy that reposted the message he got from youtube? Is he illegal for posting their literary work without permission or compensation? Afterall, this is a public forum just as youtube is. What about the people that put videos on youtube from the family vacation at disneyland? Could disneyland sue them for illegally distributing images of thier structures? What about the video that has LCD display info on it? Could the camera maker sue you for distributing its icons without compensation? Its part of the video right? Sounds to me like the music industry has sand in its vagina over some stupid stuff. Now dont get me wrong. I understand if someone is making money on their work. Then maybe they should have a hand out asking for a cut. But come on....some kid puts a song on a dumb little skit or short movie, puts it on youtube and the record labels want compensation? thats just retarded! They should be glad the kid bought the song and even more happy that he is advertising the song on youtube. the more that song is heard by the public the more people that will buy it. If anything, the music industry should love all this music on youtube. Its just more exposure for them. Wow the world is becoming more and more difficult. with more and more laws and more and more greedy cry babies. Land of the free? As long as you by a ridiculously overpriced liscense and sign a bunch of paperwork it is. Finally, What solution does the recording industry suggest? Where is the Liscense for us to purchase that is relative to our use of the music? what is the USPA doing to contact the recording industry to arrange an affordable solution? In my opinion the recording industry shouldnt get its panties in a wad until they have offered a realistic solution. And dont tell me royalty free is the solution. Thats like saying eat mud instead of drinking water. That stuff is expensive and mostly crap for what we do. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  16. If you had a still camera with a lcd that acted as a viewfinder and had some kind of output port then it would work with stills. (would be really cool) Some of the higher end cameras in the near future might have that capability. Right now i just use it with my video. You cant control anything from it but it shows rec/stby, battery life, tape, exposures, framing brackets, etc. Whatever you woud see on the cameras LCD. drawbacks are these. -polarized glasses or goggles make it hard to see -direct sunlight on the screen makes it hard to see. Built a removeable sun shade for it but its kind of a hassle. Can usually see it well enough without the shade. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  17. Its a fold away LCD. Opens alot of doors for creativity. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  18. little fun with some newly A-liscense guys I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  19. good call! Matt That will definately help legitimize the spy story. And the jar of olives....nice touch. Nothing says classy spy like being prepared for a martini. When your buddies from the DZ come looking for you it will help your story. tell the girls that they are KGB and you need them to be patriotic and save your life by allowing you to hide in their bikinis. Hope this answers your question about getting back from a long spot. If you need any other advice feel free to ask............I pretty much know it all I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  20. If you get out on a long spot you should skydive as normal. Then once you open you should search for a house with pool and a nice landing area. Thats where you should land and hope for hot chicks that are sunbathing. Then tell them you are a spy and after a long day of barely espcaping death and saving the world from evil assholes that you would enjoy a nice cold beer and some friendly company. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  21. Well damn! If it was so violent that your feet hit your lines then I dont doubt that force alone destroyed those cameras. You are lucky that the cameras are all that was destroyed. I'm sure you have, but i would recomend a good gear check on all stress points after that kind of opening. I wonder how many G's a media card camera can stand?.......I guess alot! I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  22. How bad was the damage to the video cameras lens? just stripped threads on the adapter or did it damage the actual camera any? What video camera was it? side mount or top mount? Are you %100 that it wasnt a riser strike of some sort? I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  23. yeah, what johnny said Find new ways to challenge yourself on tandems. Sometimes just Having a accuracy competition with the other TM's is a fun way to keep the day exciting. I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
  24. Yea, you know Nraines..........................Skyride dropzones are really just a mix of sophisticated interactive holograms and chemically tainted drinking water that combine to confuse you into thinking those are real skydives you are making. there really should be a law against deceptive holograms in the state of Tn. JUMPDUDE!!! where are you? Quick turn into captain synapse and save us with your cell deadening wit! I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll burn your fucking packing tent down.
