  1. Eh. What is in the manual? Do not roll the nose. Place the nose in the middle, place the slider over the nose. Roll the tail. I had more than 300 jumps on a Pilot 150. I got about less than 10 line twist altogether due to my poor position. I agree 100%. There is absolutely no reason to do anything at all to the nose of a pilot. I leave mine right where it hangs once I let go of it. Perfect reason to start packing for yourself, what are you waiting for? Advice

Listen to your instructor is the best one. Also take the time to listen, not talk to, some of the older jumpers at your drop zone who have been around the block a few times. Oh and have a freaking blast!!! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  3. I thought the half brakes was in response to the collapse, not a preventative measure. You fly in full flight as long as all is well, but if you lose the wing you respond by going to half brakes which is the best setting for the wing to redeploy. 4. I had a pretty crazy one this morning. I landed on the tarmac on a very high wind day, only it wasn't the air port any more, it was a huge patio with snow and ice. The landing was stand up but it started to drag me. In the dream the damage wasn't to my rig or me, it was to the canopy. In the dream I was thinking, crap my canopy I hope I can patch it, until I saw it. The center cells were worn right away, it looked like I glue the canopy to a board and took a belt sander to it. 5. It sure does!!!!!!!!!! I experienced my first really really bad turbulence at around
  6. It is too bad that you decided to skip your freshman English classes. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  7. I said that, so it must be true. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  8. My club is a USPA member and hook knife is a requirement. That is cool I didn't know that there were many USPA group members out of the US.
  9. I like to think that I got my job. I got the job offer from my internship, but it was extremely competitive to get the internship. Out of my whole class only half of the applicants were even considered for interviews, and way way less were offered positions. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  10. What do jump numbers have to do with the conversation.
  11. There is no hook knife requirement @ USPA group member drop zones. Besides even if it was a requirement I would rather have a real tool, then a cheap one worn as a prop!!! So is it a hook knife or costume jewelry? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  12. Can't an open door negatively effect flight in the event of an engine failure during take off? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  13. I thought not THROWING your rig around was common sense, but I guess not. I don't do anything to my rig that I wouldn't do to my girlfriend. -I don't leave it in the car... it is either too hot or too cold in there, and some one might steal her. -I don't kick, throw, slam, or hit it. -I don't leave it in the sun, if the packing area has partial shade I put the canopy in the dark part and put my jump suit over my rig. -I try not to let her get rained on. -I don't lend her to other people. 14. The best thing for the two of you is to probably have a sit down heart to heart talk about the risks with each other and his instructors. I don't think it would be fair to claim anything else, I am not experienced enough to attempt to argue that the sport is either dangerous or safe. I don't think the statistics are going to provide what you are looking for either. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  15. What are you jumping? Is it an appropriate canopy and wing loading for your experience and ability? "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  16. They fly differently as far as I am concerned. I have a pilot 168 and a hornet 170, I have about 100 jumps on my pilot, and 35 jumps on the hornet. The hornet has a glide in full flight that is little less flat than the pilot. I think the pilot flies better in deep brakes. The hornet loses more altitude with toggle turns. It has a stronger flare. Or I could be on crack. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  17. Low passes are 17 at the T. Otter dz I go to. 12 at the C206 I go to. The price difference seems fair to me. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  18. Lots and lots of trees, we should give out arborist numbers for people landing in them. Small numbers of outs depending on wind directions so you have to make the conclusion that your not getting back rather fast. A security fence topped with barbed wire. A down hill field. Powerlines. Neighborhoods with power lines. And a river. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  19. I am glad I could bring a smile to some ones life. For the record I would just chop it, especially with my 300 dollar main. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  20. No they don't. My dz is almost a hop and pop drop zone... I think half the jumps I do there are hop and pops, and the dzo is usually on the load. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  21. On a high hop and pop if you chop it is most likely gone right? And if you try to ride it down it might open like a ton of bricks possibly causing you to be seriously injured. This is a stupid thought as a disclaimer I am just playing the what if game... but what if you didn't have an RSL and you pulled the cutaway cables enough to chop only one riser, or you held one of the three rings closed so only one side would release. Then if the canopy opened viloently it would streamer instead of whacking you. Edit: seems way too complicated now that I think about it! "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  22. I don't think he is "picking on". Would you give the same anwser to a student with 23 jumps, as you would a jumper with five years in the sport and 1200 jumps? It is pretty reasonable to want to know who your audience is, maybe a webjumper who hasn't even had a tandem yet, some one just out of AFF, a hundred jump wonder like myself, or an old salt. I want to see if I can find this video that was posted recently for the OP. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  23. I have to second that. I was very happy with Nylon City when I went to ZHill this New Years!! The thing that chapped my ass was that their openings were about 5x better than my packjobs. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  24. It depends on the coverage area I guess... my friends cingular phone is *almost* as reliable as string and tin cans. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
  25. I still have to get that lesson you were offering, but maybe after that I will give some thought to it. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
