  1. ASVAB is no big deal...you'll do great. Damn well should, been studying like crazy for it the last month or so. Don't care if it's easy, I wanted to make it easier. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  2. Happy birthday. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  3. Should be taking my military entrance and vocational exam on Tuesday. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  4. Hmmm, not too shabby. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  5. Eh, doesn't give as much away as you think. I'm sure most people suspect what you wrote is true, they just couldn't confirm it. By the way, in case you didn't notice, there aren't all that many people in the thread. Not like we're ruining the show for everyone watching it. 6. I did read your spoiler, and as I said I'm not that surprised, and I think it's a good thing. You can't really keep the whole team on the run for too long, or you risk losing part of your viewership because they're frustrated with all the twists and turns. The advantage of a show like The Unit is that you don't have to really see all previous episodes to understand the next one. This broke from that pattern, so you can't afford to keep it away from the standard for too long. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  7. Good job! I was expecting the inevitable update. If you hadn't posted it by tomorrow morning, I was going to send you an E-mail to make sure you didn't fall in a ditch or something. LOL "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  8. If they decide to throw another curveball, I'll be pissed. This twist was just enough to make it really interesting, and tie the second and third seasons together. The producers did their jobs. Kudos. And in response to "Yallah halan": Yallah halan! "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  9. I've always been pegged as a runner by professors, new friends, friends of friends, etc. Everyone knows I work out. As for my goal for enlistment, I want to show up in better shape than 99% of candidates going through Basic. I just want to show my instructors, and eventually my first CO, that I'm the best, and that I'm worth their recommendation to AST A School. I WILL make it. As for numbers, just keep shooting for X number, and always make that number a little higher than you think you can really do. Works for me. 10. Right, very obvious. I mean come on, shouldn't it be obvious? It is the CIA after all.... "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  11. Short addendum to what I wrote. Yesterday I ran 2 miles in 15:25, more like the pace I should be setting, and I didn't come out of it sweating balls or totally winded and sore, which is good. Then I did a few sets of suicides, and that directional drill to build my ankles for fin swimming again this Thursday once the indoor pool reopens. Then I went back home, and while I was watching a little news, did another 200 situps. I'm still feeling a little bit of the burn from the pushups and pullups Friday night, so it seems I worked out hard enough, and my ankles are certainly burning from yesterday. Coast Guard drill instructors are gonna have nothin' on me. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  12. That doesn't surprise me. But thanks for the info. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  13. It was a pretty good episode. Can't wait to see part 2 next week! Agreed. Just caught that first episode last night after 300 pushups and 50 pullups. Grabbed a beer from downstairs, jumped on the family computer, and sat back to enjoy that first ep. And damn was it good. Tuesday is my new favorite day of the week again. 14. Definitely gotta see it. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  15. Great movie. That's a classic. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  16. Been working out everyday this week, but the last few days have been the toughest. Wednesday I did 2 miles running in 16 minutes, then some suicides to 20 yds in 5 yd increments, then a change-of-direction exercise sprinting forward along the sideline of the football field 10 yds, then side shuffle to midfield, sprint forward, karaoke to the sideline, sprint forward, etc, to the other endzone. That was a fun one. Then I came home and did 25 pullups in sets of 5. Yesterday I did 300 situps in sets of 25, 200 side crunches per side in sets of 25, 150 reverse crunches, and 200 arm haulers in sets of 25. Today I did 300 pushups in sets of 25, and 50 pullups in sets of 5. Fun little workouts. Not feeling the burn the day after though, which means I'm not working out hard enough. I gotta bump it up a notch. Cutting down on fat and building muscle for sure, gained 5 lbs of muscle in the last few weeks, but that means nothing if I'm not feeling the burn. Still got a ways to go before I'm in shape to become a Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  17. That sounds like fun! "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  18. Blazing Saddles. "One move and the nigger gets it!" "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  19. Cute kid! Congrats! "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  20. Yeah, my initial routine was really unhealthy, but after a couple years of working out seriously, I really started to learn many things about how to work out properly, safely, and I've recently thought about getting my personal trainer certification. Though right now, I'm really focused on getting into the Coast Guard, which means the trainer cert will have to wait just a little bit. 21. Cute kittens. My cat's on the way out, brain tumor. If only I had the say on this, I'd ask if you were willing to part with one of 'em. But it's a family decision if we get another cat, so for now enjoy them. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  22. Yeah, I have the same tendency. When I first started really working out a number of years ago, shortly after starting college, I couldn't run half a mile without being winded. So what did I do? The last thing anyone should do, I ran every single day for almost a month. At 3 weeks, I caused myself a minor injury, lost a few days of usefulness, and was right back at it the following week, running twice as hard. 23. OK, so just a small update. Yesterday I did 300 situps, 150 pushups, and and 200 side crunches per side. I'm feeling it today, which is what I was really aiming for. If I feel it the next day, then I've worked out the way I'm supposed to. Going to do a short 2 mile run this afternoon or tomorrow evening. 24. Precisely! If you're trying to change someone in any major way, your expectations are way too high. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  25. OK, so I promised myself I'd push it harder, and so far I am. No running today, doing that tomorrow so I don't burn out right away. 220 situps, 150 pushups, 100 side crunches per side, and it's just approaching 12:30 pm here, still got another 10 hours or more of awake time. Could still double those numbers, and I'll probably try. Coast Guard Basic is gonna have nothing on me. Time to make it as a Rescue Swimmer.
