  1. Went swimming this morning, did 1500m, some kick development, some fins and snorkel, some fins and goggles, and my shoulders are both hurting a little bit now. It's kind of strange, I've never had shoulder pain when working out, but I guess that means I'm in the conditioning phase. I think I just have to put a little more emphasis on building my shoulders, because this is the same thing that happened with my ankles when I started swimming with fins, and now they're fine after directional drills. 2. This morning was an abs day. 400 situps, 200 reverse crunches, and 150 side crunches per side. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  3. Today was a day off, and happy about that too, because a few hours ago my left shoulder started hurting, which is strange, because my right collar bone was the one I broke in first grade, and that's the one that usually hurts. Could be that my left is my pulling arm when I'm swimming without a snorkel. Been stretching it all day, hopefully it'll be all stretched out and loose again for Tuesday morning when I swim again. 5. Landings like that would suck. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  6. Brings back memories of my first encounter with moisture. Not necessarily precip, but still fun. It was among my first jumps on a solo rig on student status, and I had finally gotten my body to behave like it was supposed to, and I was no longer flopping through the sky like a big chunky potato chip. I spotted, saw a cloud that I wanted to avoid, jumped, and screwed up, couldn't miss the cloud. I knew it when I suddenly couldn't see the ground, my face nearly froze off, and I came out of the cloud shivering less than 1,000 ft above pull altitude. My fingers were so cold I had trouble gripping the ball and throwing the pilot chute. Lesson learned, and as my instructor would have said, "Don't do dat!" 7. Didn't get to see it, but swimming this morning was more important anyway. As for the new episode last night, it still reeked of cheating and cutting corners, and all the shit that took the show off the air last season in the first place. I'll give him one more episode to pull it together and make it look a little less full of shit, but then I'm sticking to Survivorman, as annoying as his constant bitching is. 8. I'm not impressed until you get into the 1,000's for sit ups. I'll be there soon enough, don't you worry about that. As for this morning, I swam a total of 2500m. First 500 was sidestroke flutterkick development, second was backstroke flutterkick development, third was anaerobic lengths in 100m increments with 4 strokes/breath as my start and finish, upping it 2 strokes/breath every 100m. Fourth was simply a fins and goggles swim, and fifth was goggles only as a cool-down. Will definitely be doing more ab exercises later in the day, because my abs still aren't showing enough progress. Happy Saturday. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  9. Gonna post the update from today on here since it's the new thread. 300 situps, 150 reverse crunches, 150 side crunches per side, and 200 arm/leg lifts. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  10. I'll be sure to post whatever I can! "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  11. Another fun little workout this morning. Had to reserve some for my backpacking trip this weekend, so couldn't do my best numbers, but managed 300 situps in sets of 50 with a first set of 100 in 1 min 50 seconds. Then I did 150 reverse crunches, 150 side crunches per side, and 200 arm/leg lifts. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  12. That's excellent. Mind if I steal that? As for mental toughness, I've done plenty of growing up in the last few years. I've reached a point in my life where I know that I have to do what I have to do, and nothing can stop me if I want it bad enough. And quite frankly, I want it bad enough. I put up a poster in on my wall of a rescue swimmer jumping from an HH-65, and every morning before I leave for my swim or go down for an ab workout, and every night before I go to bed, I look at the poster and think, "Are you serious enough, do you want it enough?" And the answer is always, "You bet your ass." And I always beat my old records everytime I swim, every workout I do, so progress is only in a forward direction. 13. I'd go without thinking too. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  14. At least one person gets it. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  15. That's an awesome animation. It is exciting, but the problem is we currently do not have a replacement for the Orbiter, and it is already past its recommended service life. If we have another tragedy like Columbia or Challenger with Atlantis or Discovery, we'll be more than a little screwed. We can't just say, "Oh, well the Russians will save us, or the Chinese, or the Japanese, etc." We must rely on our own technology, but we're too busy blowing shit up. 16. Added another 250 pushups to my 150 from before, so 1000m of swimming and 400 pushups on the day so far, and that was done by noon. Still got more than half the day to do more, gotta think of something. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  17. Did a short swim today, had to keep it a little short so I could drive my brother into the city this morning. Only found out at 5:10 this morning as I was about to walk out the door. Thanks dad. Anyway, I did some swim/pushup sets. 5 sets of 100m sprint followed by 30 pushups, so 500m and 150 pushups total, probably going to do a couple hundred more pushups later. Also did another 500m of kick development. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  18. Yeah, it's pretty badass, right? Oh, and don't forget Mack's been captured in Damascus, and is a POW. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  19. Guess he needed to touch the stove before he realized it was hot. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  20. I was about to say the same thing. Thanks for saying the necessary. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  21. How true. By the way, like your avatar and sig quote. Sikorsky was a friggin' genius. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  22. That is well and truly fucked up. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  23. That just pissed me off. And there were several other possibilities in my mind. First was Grey, because it seemed there was counter-development of his character in the last episode, and he seemed to be giving up toward the end of this episode. And when Cool Breeze said Mack hadn't come back, I figured he bought it. So then everyone makes it to extraction, and a friggin' sniper???? That's really disappointing, especially to lose a character that dynamic and enjoyable. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  24. That's why I do my swims in the early morning before the sun rises. Always have a lane to myself. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  25. Added another 100 flutterkicks just now to the 300 I did early this morning. Will probably tack on some reverse crunches or something, push it over the top. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
