  1. Indeed. And here I thought this was a relatively uncomplicated sport. So much for that. Oh well, more to aim for. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  2. That's insanely weird. I think I can picture what you're saying though, which makes it all the more complex and freaky. I would imagine simple belly-flying would make it impossible to use such rigs? "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  3. This is where the noobs like me start smoking from the ears trying to figure out how exactly that works. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  4. On the topic of students being engaging, how long should it take for a student to overcome the "Oh Shit Factor" and start asking dozens of questions? I ask only because, on my last jump, I barely asked a single question, and managed the jump quite well for it being only my second time in freefall and under canopy. The landing was somewhat ugly, but I blame only myself for not being brushed up on the process of flaring early. I can only assume that I will start asking many more questions on my next jump on the 23rd, but I can't be sure yet if I'm over the "Oh Shit Factor". 5. This will help. I'll probably be living in the DC area within a couple years, and I intend to keep skydiving no matter where I go. Hopefully I'll get the chance to jump at some of the DC area DZs. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  6. My TI said to me on Sunday right before boarding the plane for my T-2, "Make sure your balls are centered between the leg straps, or your canopy ride will be rather nasty." I said to him in a high-pitched voice, "You mean like last time?" He laughed and said, "Right, exactly." I readjusted my nuts, and the jump went very well. 7. Thanks bud. Just a small update. I've got my Tandem-3 on Sunday the 23rd of April. Oddly enough, I've been putting everything and more into this. Just under 2 weeks now from the jump, I've already memorized the dive flow. I've repeated it at least twice everyday while refining my body position on the floor of my bedroom. I've never been more serious about anything. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  8. Long live The Ranch. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  9. So here's a question for you experienced jumpers. What exactly does finishing a tandem progression or AFF course give you? Since A license comes after 25 jumps, what does finishing a course mean exactly? "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  10. Thanks, much appreciated. "If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
  11. Brand new to skydiving myself. Just joined the forums, didn't want to start a brand new thread. Just passed my second of 3 tandem jumps, next jump two weeks from this past Sunday, the 23rd. Any suggestions on how to get started here on the forums? Any places I should look for good advice while I'm in training?
