Yeah I know how you feel. My first 200 jumps or so was out of an otter. All of the sudden I find my self in Fort Polk LA and jumping at a small dz in texas. My first several exits out of a 182 were just an odd experience. Fun, but a slow climb to alt. and you can't get nearly as many peple in a 182. I was just talking to a buddy of mine about getting an A license. He kept asking me what he has to do to get it. I told him how much it has changed since back in 2000 when I got mine. Ok here is the deal. I am currently in Iraq. I sold my gear before I left with the intent of having new stuff by the time I got back. I just bought a canopy yesterday. I am trying to figure out what colors I should get for my container (I am going to be buying a Mirage G4) I can't download the program I need for their color chart thing on the Mirage website. So I am kind of at a loss. I really want my gear good to go for when I get back. After all, it's been 9 months already. I still have at least 3 1/2 months before I'll be jumping again. Well I would read all the other responses but I only have half an hour at a time on the computer. Not to mention the connection is VERY slow. But about the whole pot thing. I really don't think it effects a persons motor skills. Look at the dude that won the gold medal and then tested positive for the stuff. I don't see how it would be an extreme sport. If you pack carefully every time. Don't go beyond your skill level. Pull at safe altitudes and don't do nothing stoopid while landing I think it isn't so extreme. Now convoying through Iraqi towns while the lead trucks gunner is asleep in the turret...THAT is an extreme sport. (note, I didn't say it was me sleeping on that gun. I had a pc in tow on my 32nd jump. I had spent a few months out due to a snowboarding injury and just wasn't all that fresh in packing. I did have a gear inspection before I jumped but no one caught my mistake. My bridle was misrouted preventing the pin from ever being pulled. I think I had pulled at about 3 thousand. When nothing happend all I could think was "this isn't happening no...this is NOT happening. I figure I must have been in denial for about 5 or 6 seconds because I didn't actually pull my reserve until about 1 thousand. Damn damn damn that was scary. Since then no malfunctions thank god.
