I have seen folks roll into the DZ to do a tandem with me driving a new, lifted, diesel, 4X4....six months later, those same people, have been showing up in a 12 year old sedan, working towards their "B" license and jumping good, used gear. Priorities, specialty market (as stated above, mostly ALL hand done), and a commitment to the sport, add to the determination to continue in this great journey.

Not only was Harry a caring and wonderful friend to me, he was also my Coach Course Director at Skydive Ogden in 03'. Not too many folks on this planet like Harry. I, as Coco, have many great stories about this amazing man. Godspeed Harry.

Four years ago, you lost your life while doing your first jump with me. Not a day goes by that I do not think about you, your family, and that dreaded day. Godspeed Julia.

Tandem level II's get altimeters at our DZ.

King Air with two benches (straddle facing tail), standard practice at the DZ I jump at is to attach both lowers, loosened, as soon as passenger is seated in front of us. I have been in Otters where the passenger sits by my side until almost full altitude, then attach all and tighten....same with a SkyVan.

At our DZ, we have several well qualified medical folks (including myself) that are trained to respond to incidents. During our 3/14 Safety Day, The DZO and Manager covered incident response to all that attended, stating that a plan is in place for all such events.

Part time at a KingAir DZ. Been doing tandems since 02' and just went over 1000 this season. Still having a great time and enjoying my fun jumps that much more (sure helps when that cost is offset by the "work" jumps!) Average pay is $30 per.

I 'work' for Skydive Utah in Erda, Utah as a part time/fill in/as needed TI. I believe that the price for heavy ones is $2US a pound over 200lbs with the TI getting the bulk of that. I choose not to take anyone over 200lbs, my discretion.

Broke the ol'rt. clavicle while racing my flattrack motorcycle back in the day. Due to the severity of the break, ("crushed" is more like it, 17 pieces!) I was not able to get back into ANY sport for well over a year. Listen to your body, doctor, and common sense.

I have been doing part time work since April of 02' and just went over 1000 tandems yesterday (out of the sport for two years due to injury). Always have tried to make a point with the DZO/manager that I am the "prn" or "as needed guy", seems to work rather well. I get in the regular rotation on a busy Saturday and fill in on the weekdays when not at my "real" job. This way, I still enjoy doing tandems and keep it fun!
