by luck landed an awesome job in 98 and started skydiving in 2000. Lost the job and couldn't find anything good enough to pay the rent with only a high school education so I went into the army in 04. Never went airborn or anything like that but jumped almost every weekend while on active duty. I may not agree with what you have to say but i'll defend to the death your right to say it.

This reminded me of a funny story I heard a few years ago. This guy gets a ticket at an intersection with a camera. They send him the ticket in the mail along with a picture of him running the light. He sends back a picture of the money. They sent him a picture of handcuffs. The ticket was paid I may not agree with what you have to say but i'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Thats where the military really paid off. Getting my flight school paid for fully with an extra 1300 a month on top of that. Saying its a lot of work doesn't even scratch the surface. As for me, I just got my private last month and come next month will be working on my multi engine and IFR in a seminole. On top of that I'll be taking aerophysics and a airplane systems class. I've loved airplanes and anything that flys since I was a baby. That love hasn't changed. Sometimes I have to remind myself of that when I'm studying for the next test (they NEVER end). I know IF I succeed I won't be making much money for a long time. Without the gi bill I would have never done it. And there have been many mornings I have wanted to just give up. I Haven't mainly because I don't want to have to tell my family I quit. I may not agree with what you have to say but i'll defend to the death your right to say it.

I got to see this shower from Iraq 4 years ago. Was quite impressive. I saw a "earth grazer" too. Had no clue what it was. Had to look it up. Was pretty damn cool I may not agree with what you have to say but i'll defend to the death your right to say it.

As long as the plane is not on fire I'm landing it for sure. Engine out landings are something you do many MANY times before you ever get to your check ride. On my check ride the examiner pulled the engine on me in the downwind leg of the landing pattern and it was kept off all the way down. I slightly over shot the base leg but was able to keep my glide speed, make the correction and touched down just past the numbers. well I should specifiy ONLY the flair. But during the flair it felt a lot like flairng a parachute. Obviously with the approach you have to manage power and airspeed as well. And yeah. Who woulda thought just flying straight and level is difficult? That was a big suprise to me. Good luck with your flight training. Anyone else skydive first then get into flying? I remember the first time I landed a plane it was almost like the yoke turned into risers. Only major difference is that I couldn't see the gear about to touch down like I could see my feet. Other than that it felt very similar. I'm too lazy to read through all the responses so maybe this was already touched on. But just to lose weight stick with mainly cardio. I'm sure you know muscle will make you put on weight. I'd agree. I started learning how to fly a little over a year ago. It was amazing when I first started landing the plane one my own (a piper warrior iii). The yoke in my mind, were just like the toggles on my parachute. It's really similar except no rudder control and you can't go around on a skydive! Since the polling data is nearly useless, and it's just a WAG anyway, why not take the last 10 years of tandem jumps and divide into the population. If you don't do it in 10 years, your stated interest wasn't that real. 300k / year x 10 into 300M gives you 1%. That's a great idea. Why didn't I think of that. And I was thinking as I was drivng home just a few minutes ago. As of now if I ever quit skydiving it will be because of packing. I freakin HATE it. So I am writing a "how to" essay for school. I figured as a good refresher for me (since I haven't jumped in several months) would be to write a how to essay on packing. Now, I need to show why people would be interested in this subject. I figured I could look for a percent of people that say they want to skydive. well the past 2 day really weren't that bad. Maybe had something to do with the fact that all the dust/sand in the air pretty much blocked out the sun for those two days. Cleared up today and once again it is kinda hot. Last I remember seeing a thermometer on a hot day (maybe a week ago) it was 120. well, as much as I begged and pleaded they refuse to let me jump from a helicopter. I did buy a lifetime membership to uspa though. I guess I could say my goal for this year is to save up 4000 ONLY for jump tickets. That would leave me 10 short of 500 jumps. Oh that and buy some new gear.
