    hell

if i was at Ft Polk I would be complaining too.
  2. You should probably take the advice given by the higher jump number guys to heart... They arent just talking out of their ass... the "You dont knnooooowww me" attitude should be banned from this sport.
  3. Sorry bud... Airforce computer guys that sign up for college money do not and should not get the kind of respect the Airborne does... Hell, same goes for most Leg units in the Army... Does it not make more sense getting more respect being in an elite outfit with a battle hardened history?
  4. this statement is the epitome of ignorance. doing 5 static line jumps doesn't make you a man or more manly. all U.S. service members bleed the same color and deserve the same respect regardless of unit affiliation, branch of service, race, religious affiliation or gender. Its not the jumps... and whether you like it or not service members get different levels of respect.
  5. I think most people spend upwards of 3k.. 2.5k minimum. Not counting gas to dz etc....
  6. I'm not really sure but it was a very bad idea... Pregnancies... recruits fornicating in stairwells.. They would focus more on trying to bang the person next to them than learning how the claymore mine works...
  7. I may have misunderstood your use of "fighting position" so I've got to ask...how in the world would anyone (male/female, heterosexual/homosexual) be thinking anything other than saving their asses and not getting shot if they are in a "fighting position"? Personally...I can't see how someone would be having sexual thoughts with bullets whizzing by them. You cannot have the distraction of sexual relationships in a combat arms outfit. It would cause to many problems. Which is why the rules are the way they are. Its pretty much impossible to fully explain why unless you have been in that sort of an environment.
  8. Being a veteran of the 82nd I really do not find this funny. Now whenever someone hears about the 82nd all they will think about is this incident. The Airborne is the epitome of manhood. This retarded situation will change that outlook. I dont care if you were 101, 82 or anywhere in the 18th airborne corps.. Anytime anyone says Airborne you will be associated with these guys... Hopefully they get kicked out before guys from other PIR's conduct an operation to their barracks and break a few limbs. I dont want to see any real Airborne guys get in trouble protecting the reputation of Americas Guard of Honor. k i'm off my soapbox now...
  9. I hope you like the smell of Ben-Gay.
  10. This is directed more towards the guys in the sport that have been around for a while. I have been researching dropzones to decide which dropzone I want to jump at during my "Rookie" season as a licensed skydiver. While researching I found out that the DZ that is run by the USPA's saftey and training director has had no fatalities (that i could find) and the DZ is pretty busy and it has been around for a while. My question is can one DZ be more "Safety oriented" than another? Is there a reason one dz would have 4-5 fatalities in the span of a few years and another have none in many years?
  11. Thats awesome... I'm going to remember this post the next time I have "currency fear"
  12. Hey bro, I started at Delmarva.. Great place to go.. Dave Matchet rocks... After doing my first 3 levels of AFF at delmarva I wasted many many weekends driving there waiting for weather to break. I finally got sick of it and Flew to Eloy. The trip out there (Including all fees to get my license, hotel, food etc) ended up being cheaper than it would have been if I had finished out the Lic in the DC area. Plus I got some tunnel time and got to learn from world champs. Dusty Smith, Jason Peters, TJ Landgren etc.. I guess my point is if you want to Get R Done really quick so you are ready for the season in the DC area fly out to eloy or perris and knock it out. I went from lvl 3 AFF to my A in 4 days. This might not be the best thing to do for everyone but it did save me many months of sitting on cold DZ's waiting on the wind.
  13. $2800 A license $6000 Gear (arriving soon) $700 Tickets to Eloy, hotel $200 Gas driving to weather holds (east coast)
  14. I have had anxiety problems and skydiving has helped with them quite a bit. After jumping there is no tension left in my shoulders and i feel great.
  15. I just noticed that you said you pulled at 3500 upside down. Maybe some time in the tunnel will help. Take a trip up to perris and get a coach. (80 miles from SD) If you are more confident in freefall maybe alot of your fears will disapate. The tunnel helped me get rid of the anxiety of losing stability etc.
  16. I felt the same as you up to jump #20. Not counting 37 military static line (gogo 82nd). Then it clicked. Do everything you need to do. Check your gear, know the emergency procedures etc... and then just "Let Go." For me it was more along the lines of "Fuck it" but you know what i mean. I know it sounds easier than it is. It took me a while and i'm sure on some days i'll still feel it. and quite honestly I hope I always feel some part of the anxiety to keep me sharp. I dont want to get into "auto" mode and get to confident. Thats when you forget to check your hackey and end up riding your reserve in.
  17. Give in... Just kill the bastard...
  18. 288 manta - 260 nav is not a big deal. How long should he have stayed on the manta 288? I havent been around the sport long but every day I jumped I heard about at least 1 person having a hard pull or at least trouble finding the hackey. Because of this I check my handle so much on the way up you might think i have OCD.
