  1. Sixty one-minute skydives at $18 each is $1080. Sixty coached skydives? I dunno. A LOT. And I couldn't do 60 coached skydives in 3 days. OK,let's look at really cheap$ non Airspeed coached jumps! minimum $18 for his slot $1080, $5 for his pack job $300 so that's another $1380 and you still don't have an Airspeed coach. For any RW flier with the money to spend at one time, It is worth twice the price in experience alone! C
  2. Wow, that is alot of tunnel time. I did 10 minutes and found it pretty tiring...not to mention that I was..umm...injured. A.A.Tunnel camp is done 2 minutes at a time with a coach and is an incredible tool to learn how to truly fly your body. It costs about the same as 60 jumps w/o world class coaching but the learning curve is more like 150 coached skydives! You just can't get the same knowledge outside the tunnel in as short a time because the walls don't lie! In the air you may think you are doing center turns but in the tunnel you know for sure and you can practice in a limited airspace that won't lie to you. It is a very humbling experience the first camp you go to. They basically teach you the correct way to fly. First step; forget what you were taught, the less you know, the less you have to forget! As for the cold, it was 27 degrees in Orlando in January and it was cold as shit in there! I was in for 2 min. out for 6. Coaches were in 2 min. out 2 min. They were all wrapped up just trying to stay warm! The good thing is that cold air is much denser so there was much more lift!
  3. Just a word of new wisdom. A couple of weeks ago, I turned on my cypres and watched it start counting down and set down my rig to dirt dive. After having a couple of weird openings on a new canopy, I had one of the packers pack for me. Gone back to dirt diving another 20way. A friend called me to the pack room but I was too busy DD. When we were done, he came over and told me the packer wanted me to know that my cypres was turned off. I argued that I turned it on first thing before jumping. I went inside to gear-up and found it still off. Thinking why my packer hadn't turned it on for me, I turned it back on only to find out the battery had suddenly gotten too low to activate the unit! A month earlier the indicator was showing plenty of life left. Lesson learned; don't depend on your AAD to save your ass (which I don't unless I'm unconscious or unable to pull), If you have one, don't just assume it is always on just because you turned it on before the first jump. Another thing to add; Know how many feet that your main takes to open so that if you are low you know which handle to go for! My hard deck is 1400' to go to my reserve first because I know my opening distances, snivelly or not Hope you find some useful info here. C
  4. That was a response about your picture! Wish it were clearer
  5. And the picture's alot clearer with the lights on!
  6. Thanks for the thoughts for a new nightmare!arghhhh
  7. Round USPA,SCS logo,1-800-skydive(2)SkydiveSpaceland,100 Club of Houston,I'd Rather be Skydiving plate ring and I can't remember what else since it's in the f**king shop!
  8. this was posted by Lisa. In Reply To Brakes were not released, both handles were in place. There were also reports from witnesses that she was limp under canopy. Don't know if there were hard housings in the risers. We may never know exactly what happened; we hope the autopsy will show something... In Reply To Keep in mind that some sizes/makes of canopies can (and often want to) start spinning if you open in a turn, even if they have no "conventional" mal. Some canopies will also continue to turn until corrective input is given. imho this is another risk you take on if you choose to jump what Kate referred to as a "weight shift" canopy.
  9. Why do we have an incorrect story on Shannon's death on the home page where some WUFFOs don't past? My understanding of the accident was'nt a mal but an unconscious diver in a natural turn, turned spiral. The first articles said main malfunction and unable to deploy the reserve but we know different. Why not post the most correct account of the problems, unconscious diver not a mal? Blue ones forever Shannon
  10. Let me see....Bought my 1st rig (used) on jump 12,good investment, put 80ish jumps on it and sold it to a new jumper for the same money! 80 rental@$25.00,no-brainer. Didn't have to wait around for rental gear. No license, no jumping where and when you want,no-brainer. Get your license! Knee? I had 3 screws in 2 knees before I started jumping! Let it heal, don't screw them up for life. Eloy would'nt be a lot of fun NOT being a WUFFO and having to just sit and watch now would it? Heal, gear, license. Make sense? Good luck!Eloy will be there again!

    Downsizing

Dude your nuts! Downsizing like this is crazy. Get rid of the appartment alltogether! There are plenty of street corners available for you to make some REAL jump money while you're bagin' you're shit under some vacant overpass! I would be much more civil to someone with a sign saying "HOMELESS, NEED JUMP MONEY, THERE'S BEER AT THE D.Z."No cramping up with the walls moving in on ya, the great outdoors, no walls! Just think about 500 more jumps, awsome!

  15. Hey mate, 20way comp this weekend @ SSL! When are you coming back? Weather gone to shit yet? Did my 1000th at the TSL championships in Dallas 2 weeks ago.

  17. I jumped the Crossfire yesterday, and found the performance very similar to my Stileto, only the riser preasure was surprisingly higher. I found it even more sensitive to body position during opening then my Stileto, but had a much more powerful flare in slow flight. _Am I jump a XF1 loaded 1.87/1. The riser pressure on mine is heavy compared to Stileto, but has a much longer recovery arc. The XF2 I demo'd (@2.0/1) had less than 1/3 the riser pressure and a very long recovery arc and deeper flare. I also find the Stileto much more harness happy. I have had some hairy openings on both the Cobalt and the H-mod but have not jumped the the full Comp.
  18. Did I hear this correctly? Not enough people, gave up?[email]

  23. They're called turkeys because they are much more at ease on the ground since they don't fly very well!
  24. "Spaceland Orbit 20way" seems to be complete now. No more "OtterLimits 16".
