  1. Thanks guys, this has been an enlightening discussion. We have all evaluated our procedures and the reasoning behind them and hopefully we will all be safer skydivers because of it. You all are wonderful!!! BTW....nothing stupid here except the question not asked.
  2. Now my answer. I would go for silver because my reserve is packed to open in a short time span, on heading and smoothly. I would not take the extra time to deploy or cut away my main and risk a Spectre snivel. If I am wrong someone please correct me. Now what if that shirt had gotten wrapped around your reserve handle in your haste to exit the aircraft and you couldn't pull it? If you jump in a shirt and shorts you run the risk of it getting tangled in any of your handles and then where would you be? I know lots of experienced jumpers who do grab their rig and run for the plane without a jumpsuit; however, I personally want to make sure I can get to every handle without a shirt or anything else getting in the way. I have even gone so far as to put velcro inside my freefly pants and on the shirt I wear with them to keep my shirt where it belongs.
  3. Situation: you are sitting in the plane on the way up. Everyone is happy to finally be free of the constraints of the Earth if for just a few moments. You pass through 1800 feet and life is good. The plane begins to sputter, rocking wildly. The pilot yells, "GET OUT!" What would you pull and why?
  4. Hey Sangrio....does those extra long posts count for 2 or 3 maybe? Unfortunately I write like I talk which is well, you know. Congrats Zennie.
  5. JT says it is just a Georgia thing about being slow, but I look up at lots of formations and JT was gone before I could get a hand on him. I swear the boy has bricks in his shoes. When is everyone getting together in Deland....I may try and crash the party as well if that is ok!!??

    "A" Exam Advice

I am glad to hear you all saying your pro track is a little off. Mine said I was open by 500 feet the other day and I really have a problem with that since my cypres would have/should have blown me away if I was that low. I always look at my altimeter (the old wrist mount) when I get my slider down and I am never anywhere near that. Do you think it could have had something to do with my changing the breakoff altitude on the ride up? I pulled a blonde moment and forgot to do it on the ground. As fot the original question. The A exam was easy. No medical stuff there. Know fall rate/sec, cloud distance and seatbelt stuff. The rest of just common sense stuff you know. Read over the sections and relax. Now the D test is a different story....I can't get above a 70 so I'm back at it next weekend.
  7. I agree with Geek....SCOTCH is good. Give me Johnnie Walker anytime.
  8. You all are such lightweights. I used to be one of those flight attendants. I would stand up and walt through most rough spots, but then I knew what to do if it got bad, too. Personally I really didn't mind turbulance at all it was the passengers who kept saying, "Honey, can't you do something?" "Darling, is it always like this?" Then there are those intelligent people who insist that the seatbelt sign is for others. Of course, they wind up with their hard heads plastered to the ceiling, and whine all the way down. Now I really minded them! It is so funny now to look back and realize we used to bet what type of pilot we had based on a landing. Slam and stick was always Navy, no bounce and easy approach was Army or Air Force, and bounce to the terminal was civilian. I've only ridden down once with our jump pilot and I have no desire to do it again. Something about it was unnatural to say the least. I do think I need to have our pilot do a seatbelt check sometimes just for good measure...sounds FUN.
  9. Well...why do you feel like that about jumping in Atlanta? I can think of tons of things much higher in the torture department than jumping at Skydive Atlanta. We have a great group of people, covered packing, and a Super Otter.

    Bad News

I feel for the victim and his family. Imagine how they felt reading that. The article would never have passed one of my 4th grade English classes much less been printed. I do hope someone from the DZ actually spoke directly to the family and explained what happened. I think we all look on fellow skydivers as family, so when one of our family dies we need to continue doing what they loved doing....skydiving. I know we all jumped after Michele died. The plane was extremely quiet and many tears were shed, but we jumped because that is what she would have wanted us to do. The Memorial Dive brought in large numbers of jumpers just to honor her. That is how we show our love and respect for a fallen jumper. It is also how I finally found my peace. The gm is getting a note from me too. Maybe these people just need a little (ok, a lot) of education about our sport.

    im in texas

Glad you made it ok. I enjoyed watching you fall..... See ya soon.
  12. OOPS...you can't have bottom as we've already done that on the last exit!!!!!
  13. OK...I'm asking. What do you want this time?? Top or bottom?
  14. TreeTop...glad someone here is from my generation and has NO CLUE as to what they are saying!!! Actually JT is just a little older but not much. :-)
  15. Thank God we have a FEW GOOD MEN who realize that we like to look and help us out at times!!
  16. As long as my eyes work...I probably do!!
  17. Skydiving generally will not kill you....it's the ground that will hurt you!
  18. Nothing like a one track mind....chicks can have one too ya know!! Why is you ya'll always wear shirts??? I like the scenery too ya know!
  19. I know what you mean about the ladder compared to the door. I flew for 4 years comercially and the only part I hated was the landings because you could see the ground coming up at you really fast and had no control. At least in skydiving you have some control. Now that I've started jumping I really used to be scared that I would fall off or out of the plane but a JM looked at me and laughed and said, "SO, you are supposed to get off anyway." Granted falling off could screw up a formation dive but big deal. If you make a habit of checking your $hit and not trash packing then all you have to do is enjoy the ride, PULL and FLARE. Now...if you fall off the roof all you need to do is scream as there is no ride, no time to pull and nothing to flare....man you are SOL. Blue Skies and Happy Landings, Lisa
  20. Yes, I'm afraid to say there is a difference...especially when there is an "X" in the picture. I have no desire to loose custody of my two to that jerk, but neither do I desire to inform him of ANY of my plans and doings so I have to go about thing carefully....thus SCHEME. Planning for me is ...."You want to?" "OK, let's rock" See the difference
  21. Glad you appreciate the scenery. We aim to please....Now if I could get you guys to realize that...hummmmmm
  22. Hey guys I know a GREAT camera flyer I can hook you up with. He lives out there and was jumping at SanMarcos when Michele was killed. He is a SUPER GREAT guy. Remind me JT and I'll give you his info when I see you SAT...you best be there as I want to push you out at 13,500 again.
  23. I would say I'm shocked but "X"'s are all the same...that is why they are no longer with us. I have been there, done that...keep the damn shirt. Play it cool and maybe it will work out...good luck.
  24. Part of the reason I sold the suit was it had no booties. You have started quite a stir with these guys and the boobies. I think it is just envy on their part because we have them and they don't. What do you think??
