  1. aggie dave for president... i swear man it seems like every thread i go in lately aggie dave has the first reply with a sensible answer to the op's questions.. happy birthday my man... your doing a helluva job...for real.. -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  2. thats awesome man... i tell you i have made some of the best friends of my life thru skydiving and i dont know where i would be right now without it.. i count my blessing everyday and thank all of my good friends for being ..well..my good friends.. skydiving and the people i have met doing it changed the way i live my life.. -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  3. well after i put 15 jumps on the demo from PD i went ahead and bought my own... ive learned that i can put this canopy down where i want it..even when i fuck up and misjudge my landing pattern altitude.. oon one of my first jumps with it i started my downwind too low and by the time i was turning for base i was already at like 500 feet so i gave it a little more turn for final and i was looking right at some power lines that i was headed for at the altitude i was at...i gave her a VERY little front riser dip for half a second and she dropped about 50 feet...i landed it right thru the ranch driveway posts..it was a little scary but at least i know now that i can land it in a not so optimal situation... after that i adjusted my pattern altitudes by about 600 feet and everything fell into place so to say...landing have been quite fast and with the exception of one or 2 sliding in i pretty much landed them all flawlessy.. yesterday i had the fastest landing of my career and man it was fucking exhilarating! slight front riser approach on a slight downwind...what a fucking joy to fly.. i like the fact that it keeps me alert and aware at all times as it demands attention..my safire i was able to just sit back and relax for a little bit but with this beast she needs to be attended to..and that makes the whole of the skydive alot more exciting for me as it does not stop when the canopy comes out.. the openings are LONG and soft...sometimes too long for my taste but im assuming ill get used to them with time and more experience? i had maybe 4 diving turning(90-130)openings out of 15 jumps.. regardless of the openings i really love everything about the canopy although i didnt find that the glide on rears was as flat as some people told me it would be.. i cant wait to fly my own...its off the shelf from PD so i should have it this week..amazingly it perfectly matches the colors of my new rig so that worked out really well.. ill keep yall posted as im getting some coaching from lots of experienced canopy pilots at the ranch..and im gona get jeffro out for a course mid june if anyone is interested in that... -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead

  6. thanks that was an excellent read...i wonder why we havnt adopted a system like this for the uspa? seems like it could help alot of canopy pilots who are just starting to get into HP landings -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  7. co-signed... -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  8. you can always get a baser rig and skydive/base in the same gear www.thebaser.com -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  9. yes let me clarify..when i said the glide is not as flat as i was told i meant in rears up high..forgot to mention that i was not talking about full flight.. i have alot more experimenting to do with this canopy..i cant wait to get back under it -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  10. so i got the katana170 demo today and made a few jumps on it... i fucking loved it!! it wasnt nearly as scary as i expected it..the landings and openings were ultra smooth and the turns were fucking fast...way faster then my safire obviously... i didnt find that the glide was as flat as alot of people told me but maybe i just need to do some more experimenting with it dave i did all of the drills that you posted up in the the first page of this thread...watched my altitude on each manuver. i think this is gonna be a canopy i stick with for a long time to come... -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  11. this show is such a mindfuck...you never know where its headed.. -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  12. i appreciate that dave...hopefully we get some jumpable weather this weekend..it'd be nice to see ya since you missed the PR boogie!! -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  13. dave...thanks for the tips...i planed on opening as soon as i hit terminal from altitude all weekend with this canopy i will try all of those things you have listed on each jump if altitude permits...the big guy has already told me that there will be a serious briefing before getting on the plane and after my first landing...we both know that he will take care of me well.. thanks for the concern! and dragon..thanks for the suggestions..i flew a sabre2 before i had my safire and i liked it but its still not where i want to be this coming season..like i said before..maybe ill make one jump and scare the shit out of myself..and opt for a stiletto or a sabre2 instead.. also..what kind of opening problems do you think i will encounter at this wingloading? im open to all suggestions and comments but i really wanna at least demo this canopy before making any decisions -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  14. hey wassup dave... yeah its who your thinking...we were gonna go for a stiletto and then he suggested the katana 170..so we ordered a demo right there and it should be here for the weekend..i have someone willing to sell me a brand new katana never hooked up still in the bag for $1775..actually the exact same colors i need to match my new rig..so if all goes well this weekend and next weekend on this canopy i will most likely buy it... who knows maybe the first jump will scare the shit out of me and ill never jump it again...or maybe ill fall in love with it..who really knows? i honestly just cant wait to demo it and see what its all about.. and yeah im still up there every weekend..even in the cold! where are you? -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  15. yes i can do all of that on my safire..im really just wanting a new faster canopy for this upcoming season that i can do around 250 jumps with and really learn the flight characteristics before going any further. -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  16. no actually my rigger/ s&ta at my pro shop recommended it for me...im asking here for a second opinion..just wondering what other people may think about it i wasnt going crazy with the safire as it was fairly large and not really a canopy to swoop with as it recovers immediately.. i dont want to get into swooping this season but i would like to lay some framework down with a solid understanding of how this canopy flies and learn on it all season without being overly aggressive with it..maybe get some good canopy coaching with fro or tj over the summer and just figure it out for at least a whole season before i start doing 90's and above.. -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
  17. i weigh about 200 out the door...i am jumping a safire2 189 now...buying a katana 170... actually im demoing one this weekend before i buy..want to learn how to swoop thoughts advice and criticisms? -------------------------------------------- www.facebook.com/agentlead
