  1. Yep, I even think freefallmama1 is Cary or a SO of his, but I'm bored at work today so I thought I would play, and I will take any chance possible to tell them how much I dislike them. J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  2. This was taken from ASC website. we can accommodate persons weighing as much as 285 LBS. There are hand full of small part time operators in the south east U.S. will impose strict weight limits and will not take persons weighing over 239lbs. Although you may not weigh this much this should be a concern as it is an indication of lack of experience and or the modern equipment necessary I think most of the country imposes a weight limit due to the manufactures recommendation. Doesn't look like much has changed there. (in the ways of deceit) j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  3. But you are owned by the same people! Does skyride show you favoritism over other GA dz's? I would guess not, since that would be money out of the same owners pockets! Its not the DZ's choice to show favoritism- it's skyrides. They are the ones sending TM's across many states to jump at a dz they own. We are not stupid. We know ASC and Skyride are run the same way. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  4. Skyride and ASC are run by the same people. If you would like me to go into the specifics on ASC I will gladly send you a PM, as to not hijack this thread, and I will start with the time they sent us an airplane and insisted on their pilot... j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  5. You haven't answered my question of which DZ you work for? ASC is it? if not where? Are you too ashamed to state it? J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  6. Because I care about the first impression they are giving to potential skydivers. They are criminals!!! They make us look bad. When someone gets ripped off by them (and many have) they now have the impression that all skydivers are criminals like the people at skyride. You wanna work and associate with those types of people go ahead, you will probably lumped into the criminal, untrustworthy, lieing, stealing catorgy that they fall into. J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  7. You just don't get it! Skyride is an operation run by criminals. I don't like criminals. They have been informed many many many many times of their illegal activies and asked to cease. Ben showed up at the BOD in January (were you there?) and did they well that's our employees fault, we didn't know that was going on. Funny thing is, as I'm sure you know because you seem to be all knowing, that Cary did the same song and dance at the meeting before that. THAT IS BS!! You want to support criminals go ahead, if you want to be part of the problem with skydiving's image, go ahead, we just won't support you. J Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  8. Not if we can help it. I would rather pay more as a fun jumper than support a dz that used Skyride. What dropzone do you manage? I only ask because I would assume that Skyride would send ALL their Georgia inquires to ASC, so I assume you work at ASC. They are criminals! That gives new potential skydivers the impression that we are all criminals. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  9. Although you don't state what DZ you are from, and if you are from Georgia, I would have to guess ASC, which you may or may not know share the same owners as Skyride. ASC (or whatever dz name they are going by at the time) is Skyride. Somone can make alot of money working with thieves, but you will also have to pay the consequences when things catch up with them. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  10. If I had a cat I would declaw it. There is talk of cats outgrowing their destructive, harmful behavior. I wish the 7 year old cat that mauled my face when I was babysitting at age 12 had outgrown it. I did nothing to irrate the cat, I heard a noise behind the couch, looked over it and the cat jumped up and clawed my face. If that's overgrown, I would have hate to see what it was like before. 11. You can live a long happy healthly life without ever eating chicken. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  12. Way over diagnosed and way over drugged. I know of a kid where the teacher wanted him on ritalin and mom said NO WAY! The teacher took it upon herself to diagnose this kid. Mom changed the kids diet and no more problems (except that teacher). Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

    Unionize?

I personally wouldn't join, but then again, when I instruct, I am paid well compared to what the rest of you make, but I don't do it for a living and we are only a weekend dz. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  14. Ya know, I have this turkey fryer that I only get to use once a year at Thanksgiving.... I wonder.... We hit one on the way home from the dz Saturday - do you want me to go scrap it off the road for ya? Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  15. The damn wild cats stalk my bird feeders also, but so does the chicken hawk. When I see the cats stalking my bird feeders I shoot bottle rockets at them. I really don't want to shoot to kill cause they do kill some rodents and I really don't want to deal with getting rid of a dead cat. I'm pretty sure the Hawk has taken more birds then the cats though. If I could just get the Hawk to take the cat.... 16. Where did it go? I was only on page 1 when it went away. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  17. The number of registered people on dz.com has NOTHING to do with the wrong doings of Skyride. As Aggiedave said, not all people post to dz.com, they just read it. Some people who want skyride gone aren't even registered on dz.com. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  18. Does Spain allow you to drive and talk on a cell phone? I think that should be banned way before smoking in vehicle, but non of us will have any personal freedoms before too long. j Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  19. When the Kingair is away we jump from a Super Cessna 195 (formerly known as the chuckwagon). From the Cessna its $16.00 to 12,500' in about 15 minutes. Plane holds 5 jumpers, lots of room outside for exits. Welcome!
  20. Sheesh. I haven't had anyone want to check my logbook in many years. But then, maybe I have that "old timer" look now. As long as you've got your USPA license credentials, I don't see what the problem is. Care to say which DZ this was? I really don't want to name the DZ because I don't really think they do it to everyone, and other than dealing with the S&TA and a really rank smelling rigger, we had a pretty nice time. We spoke with some of the locals and they couldn't believe it. I would think an in-date USPA card showing a D license and an Instructor rating would have been good enough too, but I guess we caught them on a bad day. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  21. I came across a situation last summer visiting a dropzone. We were "checking in" and was asked for the usual, fill out the waiver, uspa card, rig check and then the asked to see our logbooks. I handed them my logbook then proceeded to get a rash of crap about them not being signed. I told the S&TA that I was told when I started skydiving (9 years ago) I did not need to have a signature once I got my D license. He said that was wrong and that had changed years ago. Then he explained that anyone could forge a logbook entry and my response was anyone can forge a signature. After calling our Regional Director because he knew all of us, he talked to the S&TA and told them we were legit and we were finally cleared to jump. Just wondering if everyone still logs and has their logbooks signed and if they ever encountered a situation after having your D-license. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  22. First, I stopped having my log booked signed when I got my D License. When I went to Perris the "check in" process included the waiver, gear check at Square 1, watched a video tape and was then I was video'ed stating that I understand I can die and all that other stuff. It was a little more extensive that some other dz's but not bad at all. I have had only 1 problem at a dz I visited last summer because my log book wasn't signed. The whole thing didn't make any sense because their reasoning was anyone can make up a log book entry and my response was anyone can make up a signature. After we called our regional director to have him talk to person checking us in they finally "cleared" us. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  23. Then I suggest halojumper.com or WFFC will offer both Halo (30,000 ft) and high Altitude (23,000 ft). Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  24. Thats not near true. Ask any DZ thats had issues and needed assistance from the USPA lawyers. I hate the GM program in its current for also, but at least put all the facts on the table. Here is a break down of GM benifits: B. Free Advertising: 1. A no-cost fax and phone listing in each issue of Parachutist magazine. 2. A no-cost listing in the USPA DZ Directory. C. USPA-sponsored insurance. D. USPA courtesy inspection and recognition of participation. E. A copy of the USPA Skydiving Aircraft Operations Manual. F. Access to USPA research and case files. G. Support from the Airport, Access and Defense Fund in accordance with SOP 26. H. Legal referrals and expert testimony on a case-by-case basis. I. Government relations support at the state and federal levels on issues affecting state and nationwide skydiving. J. Timely notification of issues relating to DZ operations. K. USPA sport promotional programs. C is a HUGE deal to a lot of DZ's operating out of Municipal airports where they are required to have a 1 Million dollar insurance policy. G has saved a few DZ's from closing due to the USPA being able to hire better lawyers then what the DZO can find in their area. USPA used I to help prevent Nevada from making the BSR's a state law if you remember.... C does not exist - There is no insurance provided to the Group Members. The only insurance is third party insurance for INDIVIDUAL members. The GM program does not even cover the advertising, not to mention all the other administrative head aches they cause. and everything Hooknswoop said. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
  25. I am completely against the Group Member Program in its current form. Let's look at the Tunnel that is a Group Member DZ. They will allow any body to fly there, regardless if they are a USPA member or not. Plus if you look at a GM Program application, there is no Cat for tunnel and how to charge them. I don't believe they should be listed as a GM DZ. If so they need to be charged as if they were flying a jet. The only benefit of the GM Program is the "free" advertising in Parachutist. If they actually charged for that space instead of giving it up to the GM's DZ, that program might come close to paying for itself. Group Member Committee should not be in charge of who can and who cannot have a rating course at their dz and if they should be charged for not being a GM DZ. The rating course are for the members, not the group members and should fall under the Safety and Training Committee and not the Group Membership Committee. I sat through a good portion of the last BOD meeting and well, IMO, some more changes need to be made to the BOD, but it is coming along, slowly. I would still be a member of the USPA regardless if DZ's required it or not. Judy Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
