Jose Padilla may be a piece of crap who may or may not have trained to be a terrorist, but he is still an American citizen and entitled to all the legal protection that entails. If you've been under a rock for the past three years, Padilla was arrested coming back into the U.S. after (allegedly) training to be a terrorist and planning to detonate a dirty bomb. I'm not posting to debate the facts or merits of the charge, but rather the fact the he has been held as an "enemy combatant" in military custody and denied all the civilian legal proceedings normally expected of a U.S. citizen. I'm very sorry to hear about your father's condition. My grandfather had severe emphysema as well. It was really rough watching the guy that used to throw me around in the pool as a child get winded shuffling 25 feet to the bathroom. As morbid and crappy as this sounds, make the most of the time with him now because it will only get worse from here.
