If you're giving a statement to international press, try not to sound like the CIA Director who said: "This agency does not do torture."

As a handgun owner in Illinois myself, I'd like to add something that none of the other posters have mentioned: If the situation arises where you DO have to use your weapon for home / self defense, you may have to go to court to defend yourself. The reaction you get will be completely different depending on what weapon is being displayed in court. There is a world of difference between a 9mm or .45 caliber plain jane handgun vs. a hair-trigger, laser sight, compensated barrel .44 magnum. Same goes with a shotgun, I'd stick with one that looks like a hunting long gun. The inner-city pistol-grip gansta-thug look will seriously dampen any arugments of self-defense REGARDLESS of the facts in the case.

as a renter, you pay property taxes indirectly.... why do you think your rent goes up every year?
-
ooooh..... i just remembered this one. I knew a teacher who had a student named 'Abcde', pronounced Ab-si-dee. Incidently, the child was black.
-
i used 'killer' as in the punchline

Ever met someone with an odd name and you thought.... what were their parents thinking? In some cases, the names are from a different culture, so there is no way they'd know. But the American parents should know better: 1) Richard Hunter - he never went by Dick 2)I guess Bich is a common Vietnamese name. I knew this guy named Bich, the killer was his last name... he was Bich Bang. 3)Ke Gu. This guy is Chinese, so you say the last name first. The first name can be pronounced "Key" or "Kah" so it sounds like "Gookie" or "Gooka".

the only reason to live in naperville is if you have kids and want them to go to really good schools... otherwise you are paying huge property taxes.

I am also a fan of the earlier King works and you've mentioned some very good stories. However none of them were as good (IMO) as "Eyes of the Dragon" and NONE of them were a huge letdown like the Dark Tower series ended up being. Steve-o... you let me down.

i don't. i think he started off with something great and then threw a whole bunch of shit in there.... kind of like the matrix movies.
-
more afterthought. nonetheless, i seriously dropped my book in frustration when i learned he had written himself into the series. very blatant and tasteless... (granted, some of his characters are King-like. some are authors, live in maine, were/are teachers, worked in laundry.... but this obvious grandiose display just stuck in my craw)

In The Stand, while the travelers are crossing the desert, you'll find the line "like a man named Roland walks through another desert far away". that's MUCH more concrete than your previous post... however it doesn't point out the link between Flagg and the man in black (Marten). That correlation is drawn much later in the Dark Tower series and in real time (years and years)
-
I knew Flagg was the bad guy in: "The Eyes of the Dragon" & "The Stand"... i don't know about any others. later Dark Tower novels refer to him as Flagg, but I recall him either as man in black or Marten in "Gunslinger" and "Drawing of Three". i think just pulled it out of his ass.....
-
I think he tied it in after the fact in later Dark Tower books.

Seeing as how Bush got all his money from oil, this kind of statement would have made him look like a hypocrite: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051115/pl_nm/gulf_clinton_dc

This is an excellent rule of thumb. Also, if you have grandchildren, you're old. pffft. i didn't call her old, you did.
-
how far do you have to stretch to say 48 is young? 48 is younger than 60, but let's face it.... you're looking at the downhill side of life by 48 and that makes you old.
-
Fill me in then... what non-Dark Tower books did either of those characters tie into?

did this turn into a geriatric care board?
